They should have said that you need to wear some kind of gi with a fish emblazoned on it to eat at a sushi bar, and make sure to vomit after the meal.
This is hilarious, but I have this bad feeling that weaboos will fail to notice that this is a spoof. Spoof, means "A gentle satirical imitation; a light parody."
It's weird that woman has to pour a drink for man. In my country old traditions say that woman should never pour herself or anyone else a alcoholic drink, only men pour alcoholic drinks.
my sensei showed us this in class as a humorous way to start learning japanese. best video ever! i love being able to use parts of the video to make life funnier! my sister took the same class and we use this as a lame but funny inside joke!! haha good times in jpn 101...
my japanese professor showed this to the class today... its was so funny... she made sure she pointed out the jokes and what not to take seriously... i like it... its a humorous way to learn.
As I check out more and more culture spoofs, it becomes far more common for me to fall out of my chair laughing. This is not natural. JAPAN!!!! You and you're "fall out of the chair (literally) laughing" ways :P.
This is all fake Japanese people don't do this and a salter beside the door WHAT THE FUCK. I've been to a sushi bar before and I can definitely say this is all bullshit
People who've never been to Japan would believe that all Japanese practice etiquette 27/4 of their lives. The really is normal people don't do it and etiquette is only used in formal occasions and for show to tourists!
Good thing you probably haven't met sushi nazi's...I went to a Jap formal dinner and lucky I was told beforehand the soy sauce is never supposed to touch the rice, but to favor the fish...I'd get reprimanded embarassingly if I dip the rice part into the soy sauce.
This is full of the most subtle bad advice ever... except for the salt saucer, that was so ridiculous that it should be obvious to anyone it's a spoof.
Please, all you gaijin out there (foreigners), do NOT follow this advice... If you can't ask advice from someone you can trust, just be polite... the Japanese are very forgiving for gaijin mistakes...
I remember being introduced to a japanese girl as (i thought) nikko (i assumes it was a nick name and meant cat) 8 month later after calling her this everytime i saw her (and no one correcting me i was introduce to her again by someone that didn't know i knew her as "neakyo" (very different)
why i embarasedly ask why she never corrected me she said "you are gaijin - you tryed, it was close, I didn't want to strain you"

''Sushi is served on 'geta', a popular footware. The geta is sterilised so it is safe to eat from. Some people then wear them home. This is why many Japanese people's feet smell of vinegar''.
t have to ask beacuse its a v patriarchal society - can women eat with their hands too? is this polite/proper manners? can anyone answer me definitively on what do japanese women do?
This has to be a joke I mean would the chef seriously clean his knife with the towel he just cleaned the fish smelling plate and then his face with :/
Ummm... I know this is "spoofy," but how accurate is this video? Some of the things it said seemed very unlikely, like wearing the geta home. Is there really a dish of salt outside sushi-ya? Also, it seems more likely that contemporary sushi-ya would just give you a receipt, instead of you having to ask for a "ryoshusho."
Well, Geta are worn, but not home from the sushi-ya... besides, the wood trays that LOOK like geta are cut differently from geta and (obviously) have no straps. I imagine some places might try it as a novelty... but this is far from a "standard."
