I've always kind of wondered about the concept of "scripted reality," because of the way a lot of information in the media, despite the so-called obligation to the truth, is distorted in order to benefit certain individuals. I hadn't honestly heard any of the things about Palin before, although I knew she was a backwards hillbilly who somehow became the figurehead for a seemingly racist, definitely homophobic grassroots movement. It's a really good essay, thanks for sharing it.
