@MrMrt777 The singer is Max Bacon. He wasn't with Asia but he did do a song with John Wetton, who was (and still is) with the band. Check out "Did It All For Love" by Phenomena.
This project wasn't supposed to be a band. It was just the Steves making an album. Well, the suits got involved and were pushing for a band. That's why they only had one album. It was never meant to be more than a project of the Steves--Hackett and Howe.
Beautifully crafted. The guitars, the synths, the hooks, the refrain; the brief, gorgeous airy vocal bridge; Hackett's solo-bridge to Howe's acoustic backing of the singer. Simply brilliant. To those dismissing this as a sell-out, listen closely one more time. Back then I was happy for Howe and Hackett who could chart big and still maintain integrity. A creative and deserved break from their engagement in long, prog compositions.
Alexandre Dumas pere wrote over 400 historical novels exposing world tyranny(Roman Catholic Empire). Alexandre Dumas pere was born near Paris in 1802 and 'coincidentally' in 1902 The Society of Gesu(Jesuits) were expelled from France for the 3rd and last time. The Society of Jesu(Jesuits) have been expelled from 83 countries and their pope is ARAMIS AND HE IS ALSO KNOWN AS THE COUNT OF MONTE CHRISTO(GENERAL OF THE JESUITS).
This band is the cream of the crop if someones putting them down they have no taste in music Steve Howe Steve Hackett an incredible guitar duo i loved this band when they came out its been years since Ive heard this song
Thought to be be a swan song for two incredible guitarists, GTR instead was a complete band that delivered a musical dream. Pitty is was so short lived,
I think it's sad that this band couldn't stay together (wasn't a second album, or some of one, recorded?) and really sad Max Bacon didn't reach more stardom, his vocals here and on the other single The Hunter are phenomenal.
The sad thing was this group showed what was "wrong" with the 80's "supergroup". Egos running amok, and the band didn't sound good live. Most of their sound on their only LP came from specially-made midi pick ups on the guitars that would sound great recorded, but terrible live.
I find it absolutely hilarious to see Steve Hackett dancing like that! I've seen him live, and he barely moves on stage! He's such a cool, reserved man......it's like the director said, "Steve! Jump around! Look like you're having a good time!"
@TheSeptemberRose you know.. they all did it.. lot of em did anyway in the 80's, I saw Robert Plant & he had the Mario Tricocci 80's styled up hair & members only jacket look goin,Mick Jagger ..the same..

Hackett contributed to six Genesis studio albums, three live albums and seven singles.
I have a problem with the following: this is a great song, and in the 80's it was played quite a bit on the radio. Always a favorite tune of mine. I cannot understand how this has only gotten 13,699 views and the talent-less pseudo-artists of today get millions. There is something really wrong here: is it this generation???
@80srule4ever, totally agree!!! I don't understand why people are so "caught-up" in these no talent singers like Taylor Swift and Kayne West and these no talent rappers that think they are "kick-ass".... BTW- I'm 40 and reliving my teenage days watching 80's music videos!!
@barthunt1 Exactly! I did not want to mention names but you read my mind. I honestly think that young people today (save for a few exceptions who actually say they love 70's and 80's music), have no idea at all about what good music really is. They get fed a good dose of talent-less rubbish and they think is the greatest! The more I listen to the music of past decades (even of those decades in which I was not even born), the more I realize that today's music is HORRIBLE.
Some idiotic comments in this thread, calling this band "homogenous," "pop drivel," "awful," etc. I was in my early 20s when this album came out and the prog rock fans (like me) & guitar magazine writers back then thought it was great. There's nothing "homogenous" about this music at all -- on the contrary, it was totally fresh and new sounding at the time, with intelligent lyrics and excellent musicianship. Just 'cuz there aren't any 18-minute songs on the album doesn't make it "pop drivel."

To destroy this invisible government, to befoul this unholy alliance between corrupt business and corrupt politics is the first task of the statesmanship of today." PRESIDENT THEODORE ROOSEVELT, 1906
@Ken5244 'I do not like the reappearance of The Jesuits ... If ever there was a body of men who merited damnation on earth and in hell, it is this society of Loyola's. Nevertheless, we are compelled by our system of religous toleration to offer them an asylum.' John Adams, 2nd President of the U.S.A
@Ken5244 "The high office of the President has been used to foment a plot to destroy the American's freedom and before I leave office, I must inform the citizen of this plight."
The only really good successful "prog rock" band still going very strong is Rush. All others may have had a good tune here and there in the past, but Rush still lives on putting out new material and successful big tours.
@Rockywaves73 I have to agree with you there. Rush have outlived and outplayed everyone in the progworld. Though I still love the other 70s proggers as well
They didn't do more 'cuz the two Steves couldn't get along. I dunno whether it was egos or what, but Jonathan Mover said, after they broke up, that some real animosity had developed between Hackett & Howe & they couldn't carry on like that. Such a shame, 'cuz this was a GREAT album from start to finish.
I've always wondered if the animosity developed on tour, 'cuz the Steves were guest VJs on MTV in the beginning and seemed to get along fine. Who knows ....
this guy has a voice like Dennis DeYoung, This tune has a great sound and the more you listen to it the better it sounds, there is nothing bad about it... Amazing how the 80's had such a leveling effect, reducing so many bands to this homogeneous brew of synth washes and lyrics that make Hallmark cards sound like Shakespeare.
Kirklott nailed it, prog music was mostly watered down in the 80s (GTR, Kansas, Genesis...). The only thing good about this song is that riff at 3:22.... it totally doesn't fit the song, but is a cool riff nonetheless.
