its strange that you cant kill children in F3 (not that my character would do it), these are just non real kids a bunch of data.. so murdering entire villages of men and women is acceptable but killing kids not? or is there some risk that some of the players would become real kid killers? The times are worse and worse, not only you could kill kids in F1,2 but even in the movies changed this compared to times 20 years ago.. "you can do anything in our game except killing kids"

I think Fallout 3 did a better job than New Vegas of letting you play as a bad guy. Oh sure you could kill people and steal things in Vegas but this game had more quests with multiple outcomes and having a path that was clearly there for the evil PC to choose.

The motives for the moral choices in Fallout 3 are completely retarded; as can be seen in this video, the designers have no idea what the fuck they are doing. "Blow up megaton because some rich guy doesnt like the view." Really, thats the best you could come up with? Couldnt the motive have been theres a shortage of resources in the area? Off the top of my head and thats would have been way more believable.

The original idea beind Fallout was the moral choices you have to take to survive in a post apocalyptic wasteland. It was the foundation the game was based on!

In Fallout 3 its just gore and monsters...they didnt even try to write a story. They didnt even try to make a shooter with tactical decisions, just aim for the head over and over.

Its a pretty poor game when you think about it.

@Psquit An RPG isn't about story telling primarily. It's about playing out your role. Things like Final Fantasy aren't even proper role playing games. You play the role much the same as you do with John Marston in Red Dead. Hell, RDR even has some "RPG" mechanics, but it's certainly not a role playing game because, in the narrative, John is a specific character and not the one you play.

An WRPGs have it right. There are few JRPGs that I'd consider REAL RPGs. They're mostly just adventure games.

@Protagonist If you make the alternate reasons for something like Megaton less black and white, the developers themselves would not be able to category your action as good or bad. At that point, they'd have to scrap the karma system they'd already created, and considering most of the decisions are very obviously black and white, that'd be something really stupid to get rid of. I always found the moral system to be pretty entertaining; I just don't think it should be taken too seriously.

@killingkai i actually think its harder to play bad. Just because you level up faster because you're just killing everyone. And because you level up a lot more, you happen to run into more deathclaws and even overlords earlier in the game. Plus all your followers die easier even on easy. Thats just my experience. when i was good, fawkes and dogmeat could get shot in the face with a fatman and still be 100 percent OK lmao!
