THe fact of the matter is that all of Ireland Including "Northern Ireland" was converted to Catholicism by St. Patrick about 700-750 years before British Protestants controlled N Ireland. Thus being so the British bullied the Irish and took the majority away from them. Most loyalists would say that the "protestants" have a legitimate claim to N Ireland because their ancestry goes back 800 yrs ago. However it is fact that Irish catholics had been their longer than british. Give us the North Back!
St. Patrick was born in what is now called cumbria around 390 AD or so. This being stated Patrick was more likely of Celtic background rather than anglo saxon background. THe word cumbria is thought to come from the old Welsh word Cymru which means compatriots in old welsh. People back then did not identify themselves as "British" in that time. This was also a time before British colonialism in Ireland
Cymru is just welsh for Wales. Anyone born in Wales is a British citizen. They are considered British, just like an English born person os British. The word Britain goes milleniums back. Britain goes all the way back to Roman times. Just because his background MIGHT have been of a non anglo-saxon background, he was still British.

What makes you think that the North would want to unite with Brussels run Southern Ireland. The South is bankrupt, controlled by middle age Canon Law, and corrupted by papal influence. The North is looking onwards and upwards, not backwards like their southern neighbours. You cannot rewrite history no more than you can stop the tide from coming in. THe fact of the matter is that all of Ireland Including "Northern Ireland" was converted to Catholicism by St. Patrick about 700-750 years before British Protestants controlled N Ireland. Thus being so the British bullied the Irish and took the majority away from them. Most loyalists would say that the "protestants" have a legitimate claim to N Ireland because their ancestry goes back 800 yrs ago. However it is fact that Irish catholics had been their longer than british. Give us the North Back!

St. Patrick was born in what is now called cumbria around 390 AD or so. This being stated Patrick was more likely of Celtic background rather than anglo saxon background. THe word cumbria is thought to come from the old Welsh word Cymru which means compatriots in old welsh. People back then did not identify themselves as "British" in that time. This was also a time before British colonialism in Ireland

Cymru is just welsh for Wales. Anyone born in Wales is a British citizen. They are considered British, just like an English born person os British. The word Britain goes milleniums back.
