  • Comment removed

  • @RyanMatthias Hegel is pretty sweet.

  • I too fear that I am ordinary. Good thing I'm totally not.

  • I'm seeing them tonight. You best be fucking playing that song Billy!

  • Is Mellon collie and the Infinite Sadness worth buying? I just want some people's opinion on if it's great or not

  • @CrazyFedora definitly get it

  • @CrazyFedora It's a must, 2 CD's with great alternative rock, no song is like the previous or next one... genius record!

  • @CrazyFedora absolutely

  • Say what you want but THIS IS THE SMASHING PUMPKINS. James Darcy Jimmy and Billy The real deal.

  • @festiveintoxications Yeah! the new thing can b called as: Billy just fucking around. Now need to called him an asshole. Its just Billy fucking around!!

  • i just realized this guy's name is billy corgan and decided i should watch highlander again one of these days.

  • wish i was there

  • EVERYTIME I HEAR THIS SONG, IT MAKES ME WANT TO CRY.....EPIC SONG WITH WONDERFUL LYRICS......

  • Some of Billy's best lyrics ever, in a fucking amazing song. You can feel him wearing his heart on his sleeve when you listen to this, in a way he rarely does anymore.

  • @headofwords

well i'm sure you must be happy about the new stuff, which is building up to be awesome

  • woo! smash those pumpkins!

  • this is awesome its the time where he was bald but still looked like old billy

  • The Smashing Pumpkins music made the hardest years of high school possible for me. Far as I'm concerned, they're legendary.

  • LO MAXIMO!!!!!!

  • Best live version of this song i've heard on youtube. Thank you for uploading this. One of my favorites from MCIS.

  • One of the best rock songs of all time.

  • Billy's voice sounds just like the studio version

  • I miss the 90's.

  • 2 more days to bid on that ZERO shirt on ebay.

  • wow this has the same bittersweet tone as hummer.

  • kurt is god, billy is jesus

  • one of the best sounding sp live videos on youtube

  • i wanna go back in 90's.now.

  • for Lora RIP

  • I don't know why people still compare Kurt to Billy, or Billy to Kurt, it's 2 differents styles, however both of them are great ( Kurt was great), and Nirvana was arguably the most important band of the 90s....but SP was one of the most important ones....

  • @MrGvl321 Best rock band ever from Chicago. That's for sure.

  • @whpriol1 you mean seattle

  • @wyattriatt SP is from Chicago.

  • @wyattriatt no chicago

  • Oh no way. I remember coping this bootleg tape and always chuckling at the banter. "We would like to thank the naked man!"

  • Corgan doesn't get the credit he deseves! excellent guitarist and masterful lyrics! More pure talent than Cobain and just as much raw emotion. Those 2 are the Lennon and McCartney of my generation IMO.

  • @dpeab11370 agreed

  • I am back to say it again...WOW

  • Could you post the lyrics? They are as good as the music.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Absoulutely Billy.

  • JIMMY CHAMBERLIN IS THE BEST EFFIN DRUMMER AROUND.

  • @ronsworld250 give john bonham some credit

  • @ronsworld250 As much as I love the Pumpkins. Matt Helders>Jimmy Chamberlin

  • i forget how much i love this band.

  • try listening to "Muzzle" back to back after "To Forgive"...it takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride from the brink of despair to a sea of hope.

  • One of my fave Pumpkins tunes.

    Thanks for posting!

  • CAN A TASTE OF LOVE BE SO WRONG ?

  • Perú..............................Someday

  • Billy must have a diesel live vocal compressor workin here...hes nice and even regardless of his prox to the mic...you don't see that as much as you should...and james, jimmy and darcy are the absolute shit

  • i miss this band too...and goddamnit d'arcy wretzky is so fucking beautiful here...a thousand scarlet sunsets bleeding into the pacific ocean are no match for her beauty. i wish there were more shots of her in this video

  • D arcy sooooooooo hot

  • I miss this band. :(

I know, Billy reformed it, but it's just not the same band as The Smashing Pumpkins then.

  • not sure if it's been commented on or not, but the guitar tone in this is beyond amazing!!!!

  • Billy flubbed the lyrics. xD

  • my life has been extraordinary blessed and cursed and won !!!!!

    Muzzle

    Porcelina of the Vast Oceans

    33

    MY Favorite Mellon Collie Songs

i love the entire album such a great Masterpiece!!!!!!

  • jimmy didn'y od, his mate od'd when shooting with him, that's where the contro comes from. Jimmy's still a genius, billy needs him...

  • Ooooh, this song is just dripping with teen angst.

  • o aight. ive always seen him with long hair thats all.

  • i think the gish-mellon collie era for the pumpkins was excellent, since then i have become less of a fan but this is what true pumpkins sounds like. Billy needs to renew his friendship with James, D'arcy, and Jimmy, and they need to start making good music again. By the way, that didn't look like jimmy, i could be wrong but i think that mightve been theyre replacement drummer after Jimmy ODed.

  • nop.. he is Jimmy.. trust me

  • This song describes Me.

  • Really? Maybe Billy wrote it about you.

  • hahaha that "i'll" at the beginning sounded so strange

  • they need to show more of jimmy, his drummin was always amazing but this song is somthin else

  • omfg i remember this whole concert being aired on some german tv channel i had to just erase one of ma fav movies since i couldnt find an empty vhs lmao was worth it tho

  • BigBoss you are RIGHT the pumkins play from the heart and life learned lessons......Rock On...............

  • I am a Rap and Hip Hop fans and the reason i listen to rock is because the smashing pumpkins make awesome music

    Go 90's music!

  • I fear, that Im ordinary listening Rap and Hip Hooooooop

  • Chabface85 I agree

  • I can't believe no one's posted my favorite lyrics of this song on here yet:

"My life has been extraordinary. Blessed and cursed and won. Time heals but I'm forever broken, by and by the way."

Lyrics like that reach inside you, grip your soul, and never let go.

  • Misterdanger I agree

  • amor

  • I reall love this album!! The great thing about it is that every song always seems to get higher and better, but it doesn't... And this unsatisfaction really leaves you with something... incredible...imo it's a great sensation.. and billy reaches its best.. Love it and this song best..

  • Is everyone having fun?

    Reasonably fun? (Or something =/)

  • lol idc how much d'arcy might have sucked playing bass, she was still an original pumpkin and added to the pumpkin taste :)

  • I love this song and band--long live the 90s'

  • im so pissed i never got to see them live with all of the origanal band members

  • yarp.

  • that shit was ill. everything ive ever said and everything ive ever done is gooone and dead. who says that? that is the deepest shit ever put into a song. ever. and great loves...will one day have to part. that shit hits at home. this song is a musical masterpiece. and that is an understatement.

  • This is so great.

  • I saw them on the Mellon Collie tour in May 96, Filter opened - one of my first gigs, amazing night.

  • Great!! MY GREAT GREAT GREAT LOVE!!"

    FOR EVER!!! JEEEP!!!!!

  • I would have killed a man to see them on the Mellon Collie tour, seriously. Zeitgeist was ok, but until Billy gives me a good reason to get into new Pumpkins, I'll keep listening to Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie and hope for the best.

  • Agreed, I saw them on their Zeitgeist tour, the highlight of the show, undoubtedly, was the band playing Muzzle and Soma during a second encore. I must say that getting rid of D'arcy was for the best...she couldn't play a note. It's actually Billy playing bass on all of Siamese Dream and most of Melancholy, I'm not sure about Gish, Adore, or Machina

  • ANI OHEV!!!!

  • Smashing Pumpkins simpre mi banda favorita..

  • dude. you're seriously out of the present tense. this weekend, jimmy "left" the pumpkins. again.

  • jimmy is gone... so are the better days of the Smashing Pumpkins.

  • Jimmy Chamberlin is still in the band. He got fired and rehired.

  • where did you hear that? i just went to the SP site, and it makes no mention of it... if it's true, then cool... sort of. i guess i worry about corgan firing the secret weapon of the pumpkins , and then re-hiring him within a couple days. sounds like more of the same ridiculous ego. he's got talent for miles, but sometimes being a dick is just that.... dickish. i've witnessed firsthand some mean moments from BC, and it always bummed me that my hero was like that. oh well...

  • Really? Jimmy has been playing with the Pumpkins again since 2000. I just saw again them at the Palms in Vegas in Nov, 08. Jimmy on drums. I think Billy knew Jimmy's talents and you can't just desert friends. As for Billy being a dick he was very cool to me when I met him in 2000 in Minneapolis. The band signed my copy of MCIS on vinyl and were nice. He stood up and shook my hand. Being from Minneapolis I know people that knew him from the beginning, but every that really knows him says he cool.

  • It's more being a dick in the sense that he was a Nazi with the band, i.e. he re-recorded all of James Iha's tracks on Siamese Dream...and straight up erased some original solos to put his own in. To be fair, he is ten times the guitarist that James Iha is, but...you just don't do that to a band mate. He micromanaged the Pumpkins to death...and we all lost, because they'll never be the same.

  • i agree. I went to go see them in san diego a while back...and it was kool and all...but the air wasnt the same......

  • well, maybe that was a little low of corgan to do that but just think of it this way: if he hadn't altered the crap that james iha did, it wouldn't sound as good as the final product. james iha sucks on his own. i would never even buy his solo album

  • There was a press release saying the new drummer is 19 or something Absurd like that. I've not touched down on anything past zeitgeist since.

Its not my pumpkins anymore =0[

  • I'm lucky to have grow up with their music since 1992 and seen them back then. And I'm really sorry that the Smashing Pumpkins legacy is tarnished. I still think that the new line up was good when I saw them last year even if Zeitgeist wasn't the best album of their (his) career. I wish he would have just stayed solo because I think there is still potential in Billy. He just need to put that political shit in his music down and write the kind of songs that got me into them. At least lyrically.

  • I loved Zeitgeist and i would argue down everybody who was trashing them about it.

But then the whole no album thing, Jimmy leaving, replacing him with a 19 year old... Its just a circus. =0[

But i'll always remember them for this =0]

  • it never was

  • Jimmy was fired in 96 and rejoined in 99

He chose to leave a couple of weeks ago to pursue his own projects. SIMPLE

  • toda la melancolia que vomita esta cancion, cuantos recuerdos...

  • Jimmy Chamberlin owns the drums now and forever!

  • 2:05...becca una stecca clamorosa anche se rimane un grande!

  • this song makes me feel alive

  • @jim267 me too

  • que tiempos aquellos! que recuerdos!

  • this is the our life's theme song

  • I think Tales of a Scorched Earth will soon become our life's theme song... unfortunately..

  • /sigh ahh to be 17 again. this takes me back. smashing pumpkins my all time favorite band forever. simply amazing!

  • Yep, that is the age I first saw them. Some of the best concerts I've been to were in the 90s. Corporate music has really ruined things since then. Well, there is some new stuff coming out that is good, but there was a dry spell for new good music from 1999 to 2005 with a couple of exceptions.

  • This my life's theme song.

  • from mellon collie album BUT DARCY SO PRETTY FOR ME HEHEHE LONG LIVE DARCY

  • the lyrics are so powerful in this song. great drumming also Jimmy

  • powerful!

  • The distance to the sun is 1 astronomical unit. And 1 AU = 149597870.691 kilometers.

  • How much is that in meters?

  • move the decimal point so its infront of the 1 :)

  • Just remove the decimal pt and u got meters. Ignore my other comment my brother was being a fag

  • thanks did not know thanks

  • Rock the fuck on!

  • my favorite ...

    perfection no more,no less

i know the distance to the sun

  • best pumpkins song.....ever

  • I fear

    that I'm

    ORDINARY

    just like every1.

    wow

  • one of the best pumpkins song!!

  • Tried to sneak in to the show from the rear entrance. Unsuccessful. Drank beer outside instead.

  • gish rhymes with fish

  • yeah dude!

  • Props.

  • yeah baby!!!!! YEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

  • i dont think billy can do that little dirty sounding yelling anymore. That voice that gets deep in your throat. billy just lost it

  • He can. Saw live this month and he did scream like an animal.

  • interesting. I thought he lost it. He can do everything else he used to be able to do except that anymore

  • He screamed only in two of the new songs. Can't remember which ones though.

  • Ur right he CANT do it anymore, I went see him at osheaga montreal off course he screams, but he cant do that little voice your talking about, he puts tremolo in his voice which I think doesnt fit with the pumpkins songs..and he doesnt extend his notes like he used to do, he just talks and scream here and there...definately not the same pumpkins from the early 90's

  • Hmm, what the fuck have you been listening to? It doesnt mean he cant if he didnt scream like that in montreal. That being said, i do agree with the rest of your text. Peace!

  • (cont'd) I started getting the latter albums (after the earlier ones) and it was almost like I experienced their career, just later on in their career because I never listened or knew about the new stuff when it came out. *shrugs*

  • What's extremely weird, is even though I never really was into the pumpkins during this era (too young, I was like 8 or 9), I still feel as if I lived through them, because - the first album I bought was MCIS and I began trading shows and the MCIS shows were the ones I kept getting in trades. Then as time went on (even though they were on their last album and Machina II by now),

  • i was there!

  • I fear that I'm ordinary, just like everyone

To lie here and die among the sorrows

    Adrift among the days

    For everything I ever said

And everything I've ever done is dead and gone

    Outstanding lyrics

    thanks for upload it!!

  • amazing lyrics. amazing song. amazing band.

  • I saw them in concert back in 1993, they're nothing compared to what they were back then. The concert was amazing.

  • 5 and six years old when Mellon Collie came out??? That's okay, by 3 year old was rocking out to Bullet With Butterfly Wings at that time (hey, I was only 22 when it came out!) She always wanted to hear the butterfly song. I have a 6 year old daughter now I named STARLA. Awesome they started playing that for the 2007 tour.

  • i was 16 when mcis came out , best band ever.. i really miss the 90s..

  • You miss the 90's,

    but pumpkins are forever

    xxSPxx

  • FUUUUCKING AMAZING!!!!! too bad i was only 5 years old :) they're still around though i can still go see them!!!

  • i know right, i was only 6 years old, but i remember hearing 1979 on the radio, because i used to think billys voice was funny, lol

  • yeah man exactly. the pumpkins have been a part of my childhood but for some reason i ignored them a long time and only now actually really got into them. I always liked it though, i remember when i was little i still thought it was at least interesting.

  • there's no way back.

today's rock is nothing compared to this.

  • Wow! I miss the 90's. This was amazing stuff.

  • the lyrics to this are overwhelming!

    "I FEAR that I'm ORDINARY

    just like EVERYONE" Wow

  • i love billys voice in this vid, he sings awesome live i think, he is kinda lacking as in the new album zeitgeist, but its all good

  • woohooo!

  • 1996 song....being a teenager...being happy..such memories :)

  • best live vid of muzzle i've seen so far. BRAVO!

  • d'arcy is sexy in this

  • yeah show love for muzzle ppl!

  • good tune.
