@festiveintoxications Yeah! the new thing can b called as: Billy just fucking around. Now need to called him an asshole. Its just Billy fucking around!!
Some of Billy's best lyrics ever, in a fucking amazing song. You can feel him wearing his heart on his sleeve when you listen to this, in a way he rarely does anymore.
I don't know why people still compare Kurt to Billy, or Billy to Kurt, it's 2 differents styles, however both of them are great ( Kurt was great), and Nirvana was arguably the most important band of the 90s....but SP was one of the most important ones....
Corgan doesn't get the credit he deseves! excellent guitarist and masterful lyrics! More pure talent than Cobain and just as much raw emotion. Those 2 are the Lennon and McCartney of my generation IMO.
try listening to "Muzzle" back to back after "To Forgive"...it takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride from the brink of despair to a sea of hope.
Billy must have a diesel live vocal compressor workin here...hes nice and even regardless of his prox to the mic...you don't see that as much as you should...and james, jimmy and darcy are the absolute shit
i miss this band too...and goddamnit d'arcy wretzky is so fucking beautiful here...a thousand scarlet sunsets bleeding into the pacific ocean are no match for her beauty. i wish there were more shots of her in this video
i think the gish-mellon collie era for the pumpkins was excellent, since then i have become less of a fan but this is what true pumpkins sounds like. Billy needs to renew his friendship with James, D'arcy, and Jimmy, and they need to start making good music again. By the way, that didn't look like jimmy, i could be wrong but i think that mightve been theyre replacement drummer after Jimmy ODed.
omfg i remember this whole concert being aired on some german tv channel i had to just erase one of ma fav movies since i couldnt find an empty vhs lmao was worth it tho
I reall love this album!! The great thing about it is that every song always seems to get higher and better, but it doesn't... And this unsatisfaction really leaves you with something... incredible...imo it's a great sensation.. and billy reaches its best.. Love it and this song best..
that shit was ill. everything ive ever said and everything ive ever done is gooone and dead. who says that? that is the deepest shit ever put into a song. ever. and great loves...will one day have to part. that shit hits at home. this song is a musical masterpiece. and that is an understatement.
I would have killed a man to see them on the Mellon Collie tour, seriously. Zeitgeist was ok, but until Billy gives me a good reason to get into new Pumpkins, I'll keep listening to Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie and hope for the best.
Agreed, I saw them on their Zeitgeist tour, the highlight of the show, undoubtedly, was the band playing Muzzle and Soma during a second encore. I must say that getting rid of D'arcy was for the best...she couldn't play a note. It's actually Billy playing bass on all of Siamese Dream and most of Melancholy, I'm not sure about Gish, Adore, or Machina
where did you hear that? i just went to the SP site, and it makes no mention of it... if it's true, then cool... sort of. i guess i worry about corgan firing the secret weapon of the pumpkins , and then re-hiring him within a couple days. sounds like more of the same ridiculous ego. he's got talent for miles, but sometimes being a dick is just that.... dickish. i've witnessed firsthand some mean moments from BC, and it always bummed me that my hero was like that. oh well...
Really? Jimmy has been playing with the Pumpkins again since 2000. I just saw again them at the Palms in Vegas in Nov, 08. Jimmy on drums. I think Billy knew Jimmy's talents and you can't just desert friends. As for Billy being a dick he was very cool to me when I met him in 2000 in Minneapolis. The band signed my copy of MCIS on vinyl and were nice. He stood up and shook my hand. Being from Minneapolis I know people that knew him from the beginning, but every that really knows him says he cool.
It's more being a dick in the sense that he was a Nazi with the band, i.e. he re-recorded all of James Iha's tracks on Siamese Dream...and straight up erased some original solos to put his own in. To be fair, he is ten times the guitarist that James Iha is, but...you just don't do that to a band mate. He micromanaged the Pumpkins to death...and we all lost, because they'll never be the same.
well, maybe that was a little low of corgan to do that but just think of it this way: if he hadn't altered the crap that james iha did, it wouldn't sound as good as the final product. james iha sucks on his own. i would never even buy his solo album
I'm lucky to have grow up with their music since 1992 and seen them back then. And I'm really sorry that the Smashing Pumpkins legacy is tarnished. I still think that the new line up was good when I saw them last year even if Zeitgeist wasn't the best album of their (his) career. I wish he would have just stayed solo because I think there is still potential in Billy. He just need to put that political shit in his music down and write the kind of songs that got me into them. At least lyrically.
Yep, that is the age I first saw them. Some of the best concerts I've been to were in the 90s. Corporate music has really ruined things since then. Well, there is some new stuff coming out that is good, but there was a dry spell for new good music from 1999 to 2005 with a couple of exceptions.
Ur right he CANT do it anymore, I went see him at osheaga montreal off course he screams, but he cant do that little voice your talking about, he puts tremolo in his voice which I think doesnt fit with the pumpkins songs..and he doesnt extend his notes like he used to do, he just talks and scream here and there...definately not the same pumpkins from the early 90's
Hmm, what the fuck have you been listening to? It doesnt mean he cant if he didnt scream like that in montreal. That being said, i do agree with the rest of your text. Peace!
(cont'd) I started getting the latter albums (after the earlier ones) and it was almost like I experienced their career, just later on in their career because I never listened or knew about the new stuff when it came out. *shrugs*
