Twist and Shout by the Beatles is the quintessential rock & roll song and should be #1. "Like a Rolling Stone" is an amazing song, but it is something other than rock. And some would argue for the ancient Bill Haley & the Comets tune "Rock Around the Clock." Good effort though.
