you know there are people who are incapable of feeling pain in the world, right? do you think those people use dental anesthetic? no, because they don't need to, but that doesn't mean the vast majority of people pretty much need anesthetic for it not to hurt majorly. anyway you're lucky you don't need it. I got two deep fillings done today with anesthetic, didn't feel anything which was strange cos usually it hurts me no matter what

i started cryin when i found out i needed 4 fillings and my dentist gave me no choice did them all at once i was shaking and crying and making a big deal out of the anistetic coz i have the biggest needle phobia ever and i hate the feeling after, so she did all 4 without anistetic after i asked, worst pain iv ever been in! i remember feeling like i was gonna faint my eyes where slowly blacking and my muscles where limp. Now i am shit scared of the dentist and cant go without having panic attacts

Ive had 5 with no Anesthetic, It hurts like fuck when they hit your nerve. It feels annoying when it vibrates through aswel.

What the fuck are you mad? Either that or you're full of crap!! I had a filling with no anesthetic and I was twitching from the nerve pain and sweating like hell and crying, I didn't even mean to cry, in fact I wasn't crying the tears just poured down my face. It was horrendous, I would liken it to torture, never again. What are you on about you believe in the dentists etc, so do I they do a great job but man, stop talking about them like they're freaking god or something. I think it did hurt...

Tomorrow i've got to have a small filling in one of my front teeth and im soo scared! Because im scared of needles my dentist said shes going to try it woithout novacaine first but if the pain is too much too bear she'll stop an give me it, i have a really low pain threshold and im even taking my teddy with me!

I don't know how you did it. I went to the dentist about a month ago and i wasn't nervous at all because i was like well they'll numb it and it wont' hurt. so i was in the room they gave me novacaine and they started drilling. i still wasnt nervous but it ended up hurting so badly that the dentist gave me 6 more shots of novacaine and i still couldnt handle it and had to go home without him finishing the fillings. I have to go back in a week and i haven't stopped thinking about it everyday.

I had two fillings without numbing it. They were deep cavities too. It hurt like shit. I was soaked in sweat. But when it's over, it's over and you're ready to roll.

You can feel it touch the sensitive area arround the nerve, but it's not the same as pain.

Im a dental assitant and see lots of patients who opt for no Local anaesthetic , 95% of people do not feel any pain because the cavity is small and not into the pulp chamber (where the nerves & blood vesels are) if the decay was at this, or passed this point pain would probably be felt, Having a filling without LA is not such a big deal and is pretty painless.

I don't think you are doing anything with your mind, nor that it's a "big deal". Everyone's nerves are different- mine extend far into my teeth and are super sensitive so when I get fillings, I can feel pain from the the drilling even with novocaine. Other people, such as yourself, have short nerve endings that don't penetrate far into the teeth, thus you will not feel anything but the vibrating.

I've been lead to believe that sensitive teeth are due to decalcifaction of the body, whcih includes the teeth.

I used to have VERY sensitive teeth. But, when I began taking high doses of coral calcium that went away in 1/2 a year. And, I never had to use Sensidine ever again. Also, my teeth are harder now.

@Catfishrah Hit the nail on the head. I have very sensitive teeth. Even just getting them cleaned properly by the Dentist produces a mild discomfort. I went through so much pain getting fillings done when I was a kid that now these memories haunt my dreams. No I didn't have an anesthetic, but given the choice now, I wouldn't get a filling without an anesthetic because my teeth are more sensitive than others
