No cover can ever be as great as the original, but that's the whole point; covers are never supposed to be better, they're supposed to be a tribute to the original artist & not everyone is going to like it. Anyone ever heard of the word 'creativity'. It was something that played a huge part in the development of music over time. People like David Bowie had it, that's why people were drawn to them back in the day. Problem today is that your Simon Cowells and your Glees wouldn't understand creativity in a million years. Image, technical proficiency, photogenecy and spectactular production are ultimately nothing without a creative spark.
What you guys don't understand is that Glee needs permission to cover songs. Meaning, Bowe and his agents gave permission to do it. So don't hate on Glee....besides no one said their version is superior to the original. It's just a different era, and I think glee opens it for younger people to enjoy classics (Journey, queen, etc)

I'm not sure it's as much of a problem that Glee covered it, sure it will lead others on to this original which is great. I think it's more of a problem that because people heard it on Glee first, they're gonna totally think it's better than the original.

@mchelo18 I guess we will have to agree on desagree since in fact I took the time to listening the song you mention and I still stand by my opinion if you think it change my opinion it didn´t I still think he is a very original and good musician and maybe the mediocre term was a bit hard but there is no way he is one of the best VOCALIST you do know what that includes right (picth , range, color of voice, breathing control etc) , heck even his school school choir thought he was ¨adequate¨

@TheGMAT16 Sorry but I'm afraid you haven't listened to many Bowie songs (perhaps just the hit singles) if you think he's a mediocre vocalist. Pitch, range, color of voice & breathing control he does indeed have. He uses his voice to convey emotion and uses it like an instrument. Wild Is The Wind, Young Americans, Golden years, Heroes, Look Back in Anger, Life On Mars, the whole BAAL ep, Sorrow, Loving The Alien, Teenage Wildlife, Sweet Thing/Candidate... so many. Listen to those then rethink.

@seppderoover1 Glee does not sing it better, they just sing it in a different way. David Bowie is a legend, his style is a legend and it's better than any remake that can ever be made. And David Bowie is a sexy beast, the grew from Glee are pretty fugly if you ask me. The only person I think is hot from there is probably the singing teacher guy.
