Me and my friend were at uni and we helped an old man in the park who had a heart attack. I did the CPR and she talked to the mans grandson. We found out 2 days later the man didn't make it, and cried together over the phone. At the end she was the first person ever to say to me 'I love you', and I said it back and it felt right. We're friends and don't have sex together, sometimes friends just need to say important stuff to each other when it feels right.
Really random, but is anybody else reminded of the X-Files episode Triangle? The ending of that ep. was very similar. Very similar, except for the romantic connotations.
There is a reason Wilson did not act shocked, and House put forth no real emotion (and why you shouldn't have, either :P)... House simply said he 'loved' Wilson because he was getting him pain meds, which we know that he's addicted to. He's a drug addict. If you walk down the street and give a crack head some crack, he's going to tell you he loves you. Or steal your wallet, but that's probably a sign of affection, too.

Wilson has given House pain medication ten thousand times before. This situation is only different because House nearly died. In fact, he's been in much worse pain, if you know anything about House at all. Him telling Wilson "I love you" is obviously not based on getting the pain meds; House would use it as an excuse to lessen the tension, but he meant it. Whether it's platonic or not is a debate, but... I believe there is something "more" to their relationship. Especially in season 6.

I think House was saying that because he had just had a near-death experience. Wilson was already prescribing he the meds, so there would be no reason for House to say it to get meds. Also, I believe you can see that House is being sincere, even if that love is not sexual, it's still love! But I agree, House's timing could have been better!

For the record, "House, M.D" is based upon Sherlock Holmes. Holmes and Watson, House and Wilson. Get the picture? Drug-induced insanity and loyal friendship and all. Well, Holmes was only impressed by one woman in his whole life, and nothing truly came of it. ...Cuddy. It was hinted and suspected that Holmes and Watson were gay.

Yeah, Sherlock Holmes and House are great characters, and great stories to go with them. I do think House is a little more interesting, at least to me: he's just a bit more acerbic and edgy.

This is quite a matter in English. In Spanish, we have ways to say that someone loves another one in not a romantic form, but caring. We say "Te quiero" which does not mean "Te amo"

Anyway, yeah, Spanish, French, Italian, Latin, they all have different variations of "Love". English, however, failed to take those and make them stick in our language. Kinda sucks. But I do have a term for it. One I stole from Scrubs: Guy Love. There's nothing gay about it in my eyes. It's just Guy Love. Between two guys.
