The "doohickey" is called a locking plug, it comes with the Motorsport package and I believe the surfing package...maybe all of them. But the manual states it's purpose is to lock the attachment buckles fingers in place, helping to prevent accidental housing release from mounts. I'm not sure if it kills the vibration or "clicking" like the guy said in the video, but hey, if it does there is 2 birds with 1 stone. Just don't want everyone to think this is the solution to the clicking and have the

i get that rattle sound even when i use the suction cup, and there is no place at the suction cup to put that dohickey thing... another theory is that the status led is rattling.

Ok, I was wondering what that did. Why doesn't GoPro tell their customers about what this part does? They did a great job on designing the camera, but a HORRIBLE job with the documentation. Thank God some of the users have stepped up to fill this gap. Thanks for posting.

I go my go pro and the first video I did was terrible with the "clicking". Im going to put this on on the way home and see if its any better.

Hi Ben,

Let us know how it turns out. Another source of clicking sounds could be loose backpack straps, jacket zippers or anything that could be possibly hitting the camera case.
