  • this video is really, REALLY outdated

  • Adverts, thumbs down, didnt watch

  • can i setup a decent nas with a itx motherboard and have atleast 10tb

  • Sound is hard to hear on this video.

  • lockergnome, This video rocks.

  • Your man has NO CLUE about ZFS. Zfs is a copy on write transactional filesystem. Using ZFS on the back end enables you Windows users to avail of iSCSI to create zpool volumes to "dish out" disks to your PC/server(s) based on filesystems created on the pool. It is trivial to administrator.

Snapshots/clones as well as the send & recieve feature make ZFS the most advanced filesystem on the palent.

Transactions use a ZIL and it boasts "data is always consistent on disk" which is nice :-)

  • Wow,

I seen this video before?? haha.

The main point to think about here is that zfs uses POOLED storage. All writes within any filesystems within the pool stripe across all the disks within the pool. It is REALLY cool stuff. The projects I have implemented since that last post with zfs is unreal.. It has opened Pandoras Box to me... You MUST use zfs.. It is the future.

Also, you can create pools from empty files if you want. How cool is that ?

  • hey chris i bought a 1tb external drive but i want to to format it into a 1 tb fat32 so i can use it on my ps3

  • why would want to do that?

  • to transfer my save data onto the hard drive

  • audio sucks on this video

  • Hello, I purchased a drobo & can't figure out how to put my itunes & iphoto in there. Can you make a video explaining how to do this on a mac? I don't want to use drobo as back up just external hard drive to free up my internal drive which is filling up very quickly. Thanks...

  • To date Mac OS X 10.5 will include read only support for the ZFS file system. Apple seems to be heading in the direction of having the ZFS succeed the current HFS+, which shows that you are future proofing yourself buy adopting mac's

  • You done blowing Apple? Gotta love a company that takes BSD code and doesn't give back.

  • you post alot of stuff very fast lol
