Like you say, we are in an abusive relationship with the system, and the occupiers are asking the abuser to relax, and realize the harm. That never works, and the abuser doesn't want you to get away. Either kill the abuser, or get as far away from the abuser as possible. You can try to reform abusers, but good luck with that.

I think the abusive relationship analogy is a very good one. The question is, how do people usually deal with or rectify the abusive situation?

I realized the government can't solve my problems, and being ever more dependent on the system is going to make the (life) situation worse. What I'm doing is learning some trade skills, learning how to grow my food, trading with neighbors, helping friends/family/neighbors out, and preparing for the worst (food/guns).
