How much coke ya think Arlo did before this tune?--he has the "coke voice" and nervous laughter.Still tells the BEST stories!--- "he was growed right"!!!! Love ya Arlo!!
This version kills his own song. The woodstock performance is a million times more profound than this quircky thing. The intro on this, is brilliant though.
@dpvis things change. even Del Shannon 'reworked' his song "Runaway" with the passage of the years, although to me the original is the only one worth listening to. however, it's still Arlo, so i give him the benefit of the doubt myself.
there are some cool cops. some are power hungry bastards and some are very decent guys. my car was illegally searched a few years ago and charged with felony posession of a controlled substance. The charges were dismissed. I bet the cops were extremely pissed when they found out i was getting to walk. Felt good to get one over on those bastards. its a shame that many of the illegal searches go over as legit.
you don't even no. I just went through my battle having to prove I was not a drug dealer or a terroist 2 years I fought my war. I drive a 1974 VW Bug searched and impounded 5x before someone figured out I am not a drug dealer supporting the War on Terroism. Profiled all the way I was As I see it the only War is the war my gov started with it's own people. So to all who have survived our nations great war I say Keep on Rockin in the Free World until you can't rock no more. Peace to All
Also I'd swear Arlo is the only artist I know of with whom the introduction to the song can be twice the length of the actual song, and I'll love every second of it..
@sirstrongbad I whole heartedly agree. His concerts are so great due to his connection to the audience. He loves to tell stories. I was at one concert that he claimed Hoyt Axton as his uncle. Well, I can just see him and Hoyt trading tall tales on a porch. There were actually people in front of me at a concert and they said loudly, I sure hope he doesn't talk all the time. It was all I could do to restrain myself and let them know they were missing much of the concert with that attitude!
@MyMoppet52 Funny you should say that, I've seen Arlo live but never heard him claim that, I hope it's true though, my daughter's father claims the same thing...(my daughter's last name is Axton,) so I hope it's true. I would love for her to be somehow related to Arlo!:)
I've watched this over and over, never get's old. I watched it with my 26 year old son who feels the same . Thank you from someone who watched Arlo and the others when we were all young
There's nothing like a Church show. Arlo plays several shows at the church every year, as a fund raiser for the Guthrie Center. If you become a contributing member, you get first dibs on seats. He's got shows coming up in May and in October. You should check it out.
am sooo happy to have found this... used to have it on one of my dads old tapes... i used to listen to it all the time, sadly the tape was lost... but yay!!! now i have it again many kisses and thankyous xxxxx!!!!!!
