bmw rolls twice that was my point. both of these cars, in line with merc w124, saab 9000 and audi 100 are among safest of that production date. they should have crashed old toyota with an old mazda if they wanted to show people to buy new cars.
everyone's dead so does not matter what car you have here. You could be driving a geo metro and save yourself a couple seconds of suffering because you would die instantly.
The Volvo model featured in this clip is an older construction than the BMW is.
The new Volvo V70/S80 is, without a doubt, a safer vehicle than any car of comparable size presently being manufactured in Germany (or any other European country) - even though many Audi's, BMW's and MB's come close to the safety standards of the new Volvo V70.
BMW can compete with Volvo in many areas, but Volvo is more of a world leader in the area of safety and reliability.
the test was amazing!!, wish I had that much money to waste. I would have kept both cars in my garage.
who won?, who fu...ing cares!!!, they both ended trashed.
Both brands are prestigious
I have had volvo station wagons and currently a bmw; I prefer BMW.
the effects of the impact on the subsequent rolling or turning up side down, depends on the place of impact; the crash was not simmetrical for both cars
the volvos, or even both of them put together. The important thing in a head-on between a bmw and a volvo is that the volvo has a transversely mounted engine, whereas the BMWs engine is mounted longitudinally. transverse is safer because there;s less chance of engine intrusion into the passenger compartment, but you lose power [and fun]. :P
i have both of the makes' flagship performance cars -- and i have to say they dont even compare -- two completely different cars, with two purposes,
i've rolled a volvo at freeway speeds before, an '02 S40, and im here to tell about it. just got some scarred hands and some lacerations in my head, but no broken bones, bruises or death [obviously]. Volvos didnt become synonymous with safety for nothing. they invested the three-point seatbelt, and some other breakthroughs in car safety. Since the S40 held up so well, i ended up getting an S60R to replace it. I also have an M3 which is obviously way more fun than either of
Volvo got fucked bad! BMW won, look again at the movie and see how the volvo is getting desintegrated by the BMW. It's like BMW is the knife and volvo the butter...
Look at the fucking passanger compartment. The volvo's is fucked up extremly bad compared to the bmw. It doesn't matter how many times it rolled over, that's why the fucking seatbelt is made for, to keep you in your place so when the car rolls over you won't smash your head in the top. IDIOTS, you know nothing about accidents or safety devices.
@paky66 no.. look againg, if it was filmed from another angle it would seem bmw is desintegrated..
volvo actually was better. it rolled once coz it managed to absorbe more of the impact energy than the bmw. and there was more driver space then in bmw ( although not wnought for survival anyways)
overall, i'd take a volvo. although driver has faint odds for survival, other occupant of a volvo would survive if they had seatbelts on.
ok lets thy that to a british junk car

You must be blind. The Volvo turned upside down, the BMW rolled several times - that says it all.
