On top of that, we came up with the ideas of the League of Nations and UN, as well as having the UN HQ located in our country. We also helped other countries recover from WWII, such as Germany, and I believe Japan. It's just that in recent years, our government's been a little shitty, and disorganized.

@saintjst7 I was referring to when we went to war with Spain over the Philippines, not many people know about that, only [people who have read a history book on their own country] would know that we went to war with them, and it wasn't even a really justifiable war, all we wanted was the Philippines resources, and so we colonized them, which is what imperialistic countries do. I know that was before world war II, but we still have the "Unjustifiable war" is "ok" attitude.

@TheArchon1 I think in the scope of history the U.S. is not nearly as bad as many other imperialist countires (U.K. France, Portugal, ect.), but the Phillipines, along with our treatment of the Native Americans and the occupation of Hawaii, was not a very good example of what I beleive this country has come to represent. Im also an american think that WWII was our last important war where we did any good. Im no patriot by all means, the power is corrupt and i hate the government. But, I do support our troops and what they do (what they do as in defending our nation even if they are put in a place where we question why they are there) and most of all i respect them being willing to give their lives for us to be "free". But i fear that everyone else sees us as egocentric gloryhogs, which sucks.

@AngryGunOwner I have always respected the enlisted men and women of our nation, as the son of a family who has had a family member fight in every major U.S. war(both sides of the civil war had someone from my family[different last names though]) I know who deserves respect and who doesn't. I wish we didn't have to fight, but It's not up to us, as an all volunteer military, we chose this life, but we don't really have a say in what happens, we just go where we're told.
