I really love David Gray's work , His lyrics are really so layered and original. But comparing him with Damian Rice doesn't make sense , they are very different artists. Rice is a softer more romantic style , where Grey is more "telling it like it is" and sometimes even harsh in ways. I believe you can like both and for different reasons. I do favor Gray , but I can see the attraction of Rice as well. To me there is no controversy.
