Like the video with Kaplan's bluff, Dwan takes a very long time to lay down bottom pair. But this has strategic value...if people think you can't be bluffed, they stop playing as aggressive against you, and allow you to take control of more hands. If they think you're capable of a great laydown, you'll start to get bluffed a lot more hands than usual. A great call has far more value in the long run than a great laydown.

Hellmuth is so clever when Dwan goes to make the call and Phil goes to flip his hand up. He also checks his two cards when the 3rd diamond hits which makes him look like he has a flush. Dwan on the other hand also displays amazing skills. Two great players from different eras showing a different set of skills.

Lol Dwan made a more than half million dollar bluff against phil ivey and he never said shit. Hellmuth is so proud of himself by bluffing tom when dwan had very little experiencea in live games at this point.

I think that the crucial moment was wen Dwan pretend to call 30.000 and Helmuth rushed to reveal his hole cards, suggesting that he want to revel the nuts, or top pair etc, Dwan is looking for such a body language, and then he says''This is Weird'' and he folds. i am totally with Dwan on this one but than again great play by Hellmuth!!

I personally think the river is what won it for Hellmuth. Great bet don't get me wrong....but lets say the 3 of hearts peeled off on the river...Dwan most definitely would have made the call. The queen of diamonds was an excellent bluffing card for Phil.

this is a really cool hand. it's not cool bc PH gets away w a bad bluff that Dwan somehow interprets as a tricky nit line instead of a spazzy nit line, but bc of the tricks shown. PH reacts rather fast to Dwan's "fake call", then manages to talk him out of the pot on the river. PH really stepped up his game there and showed why he is one hell of a good live player. Dwan woulda won that pot online.
