@xtrmsprts As opposed to all of the British accents used in this scene? Why is a British accent an acceptable alternative to a German one, but not an American accent?
4:05 Albert Speer, the sorta good Nazi. He was the only man in Hitlers inner circle to challenge Hitler intellectually, the rest of his inner circle were henchmen. He was also the only man to flat out disobey the scorched earth policy Hitler enacted.
He used forced labor, but it was a necessity by the time he took command over the war effort. He wanted to have had Germany enact a total war policy similar to the Allies, where they would utilize women in the factories instead but it was ignored.
You know, its a terrible thing what the Nazi's did to the Jews. Their approach to the whole Holocaust thing was something that a Psycho would think up and tackle. However, it is because of the Treaty of Versalies that this happened. Hilter faught for the freedomof German and her people. I DO NOT stand by what he did to Jews and anyone who suffered the similar fait althoug, I do think it was not the wrong answer. Fighting for his country thats all it was, only with a sick plot to it as well.
Thank god valkyire didn't succeed.Otherwise germans are goin to maintain that their army was never defeated in the field and they were stabbed in the back.It would be back to square 1 all over again. If stafenberg was a real so called humanitarian he should have killed hitler when germany was rearming,he should have killed him when hitler defeated poland,he should have killed him when france was defeated,he should have killed him when half russia was engulfed. He is a full blooded traitor:)fact
@Rhyas9 Yes, many were born into the Reich, other's were Nazis, but realized it was wrong in the end, others hated Hitler, then there was ones that supported Hitler, and then there's the ones who were just as sick as Hitler (Himmler and all those guys)
RIP staffuffenberg and those involved in the assasination plot, sophie, her brother hans scholl and the white rose movement, for fighting the good fight. they died honorable deaths and we should keep them alive with homage and rememberance.
This scene perfectly recreates the Berghof, except the Great Hall had white walls and was not so dark and gloomy as shown here. Also, Hitler stopped wearing civilian clothes after the war started. Otherwise the details are amazingly accurate and Hitler's real personality, detached and aloof, is depicted truthfully for the first time. Amazing film.
germany had legitimate claimsafter the versailles treaty. nationalisism is reasonable. unfortuntely germany's prussian militarism made it the perfect
patsy for an occult hypnotist financed by the west to launch an insane world war that made stalin look heroic and usa the lone superpower by 1990 to the everlasting shame of the german people who jumped at the chance to rule the world. because unlike japan germany was the most cultured nation--if germany could sink so low then any nation can....
There is an error in the fabula. Stauffenberg visited Hitler in Berghof and had a explosive in his biefcase. He wanted to assasin Hitler at that ocassion but resigned because Goebbels, Himmler and Göring were absent!
@Lach1234 @1:35 that is supposed to Joseph Goebbels. @1:38 that is supposed to be Albert Speer (note 'TODT' on his armband above the swastika, the actor also resembles him quite well).
Oh come on, for everybody saying "why do the Nazis have English accents" Its a fucking hollywood movie starring Tom Cruise! Watch a documentary on the History channel if u want Nazi accents and "true" portrayals of these characters you dumb fucks. ANYWAYS...back to the movie, I thought Cruise did a great job and they really showed how much these brave men sacrificed for the greater good of there country abd familys. Two thumbs up!
Yes he did but he also wore a glass eye you do see him near the end of the film wearing his eye patch tho and its funny how most of the actors in the film are English playing nazis.
I think this Hitler actor is visually 2nd best to Bruno Ganz. Regarding his inner circle, everyone except Keitel looked right. I like how they played up the sort of unwillingness of the camera to look straight at Hitler for the longest time until needing to see him up close.
There's always gonna be blind minded people who think that all Germans were Nazis. It's like saying that every Japanese was evil as well. I have to admit though, Nazi uniforms were quite elegant despite their history within the regime of the Third Reich.
I`m a german. I hate it when people see only a nazi in you because you are from germany. I have nothing to do with things that happend over 60 years ago. I HATE everything that has to do with nazi´s. Stauffenberg was a real men, even when he first was a nazi, he fought at last for the right thing. Nazis is for me only another Word for a stupid Burglar that can´t think. Respect to all the People who fought against the 3th Reich in a time full of Hate, racism and lies. R.I.P. S. and H. Scholl
@Simonius900 Well said. I'm German as well, or at least part of me, and I should not be made to feel any shame of my heritage because of something that happened long before I was even alive.
@Simonius900 People who thinks German = Nazi usually can't locate Germany on a map with "Germany" label on it. I used to admire Stauffenberg until Tom Cruise played the character. Now I only see a expressionless gay with nazi uniform :(.
@Simonius900 I'm part German. Us Germans are not what they are depicted. For instance, my family grew up in a gottscheer (and I forgot one other German faction) neighborhood. Us Germans have a good time. We laugh we drink we joke. I feel very strongly about my ancestral identity. In fact i have an chance for a job as a busboy in a German restaurant. Oh and spaetzle, I absolutely love that scheiße
@Trashcansam123 Nobody say that you are a Nazi. That is a nonsense. Only the idiots think that nowadays Germans are like the Germans those days. And when we are in this converstaion, I don´t even believe that majority of German population actually did like Hitler. I bet that if they knew what Stauffenberg is preparing, they would wholeheartedly support him in his case. Hitler put Germany many years back and everybody knew it.With the exception of the devoted Nazis, of course. So, don´t be afraid.
@Simonius900 I get you, but do remember to not take things out of context. Not everybody inside the 3rd Reich, regardless of their fondness or resistance to it was 'evil' par se. During Hitler's ascension your country was in really though times, you can't blame them all for being brainwashed in a fragile state.
@Simonius900 Sorry man... People who are prejudiced against you or your people just because of historical human error are simply uneducated. If it makes you feel any better, I am part Jewish, and part German. People are always mocking the "contradiction" as if being German is completely incompatible with being Jewish. Damn that Hitler for leading people to jump to false and rude conclusions...
@Simonius900 I'm quarter German from my father's side. Many forget that Germany is not ruled by Nazis any longer - and indeed, their evil has long been extinguished.
From what I've seen and heard - the German people are some of the bravest, most humble people in our world today.
As an American boy myself - I respect the German people as friends and equals.
This scene is the entire explanation of what National Socialism was .. and very crude, indeed, when Stauffenberg stares at Himmler as Hitler is talking about "who will live and who will die" ... masterful piece of film !
They got this all wrong... The table was on the right side of the room, not the left side. And there was no fireplace behind the table, but a tapestry. And Goebbels was in Berlin on June 7, 1944. And the chandeliers were north to south, not east to west. However the window looks good. They got that right.
Ehh, you know that several of the conspirators were war criminals and one for example lead the Einsatzgruppen B? Just because they wanted to kill an horrible person didnt mean they werent aswell.
when he enter's the room, it gives me strange feeling...like a verry evil guy approach....anyvone feel the same?

It just shows their ignorance.
The Nazis were terrible people, and the Germans of today are in no way responsible for any of the atrocities committed by the monster Hitler.
