There has been some really good movies... Blindness, he Day After Tomorrow... They do have their far-fetchiness, but never the less, we need people like him to continue making eye-opening movies like this one.

Hollywood is a buisness where money comes to mind first. Just because it's Hollywood though does not mean there won't be thoughtful films... It only means that the films being made, or rather through the eyes of the producer, simply have money in mind first and then other elements after.
