  • New York's Longest running News Team Chuck Scarbourgh, and Sue Simmons and they have been at the anchor desk at WNBC for 30 years now. Just like Jim Gardner in Philadelphia at WPVI.

  • if we were truly multicultural we'd have a newsanchor with a mohawk

  • WNBC had very cool blue graphics back in 2008.

  • I agree!! NBC continues to use these two and they have almost NEVER held the #1 spot.

  • WNBC Neds to rebrand their newscasts as NewsChannel 4, get a new set and most importanly GET RID OF LXTV and bring back the 5 o'clock news!!!

  • What a horrible opening along with horrible anchors! The woman seems to be struggling to even talk. No wonder WABC dominates New York!

  • the graphics are kinda....well not that special, to be perfectly honest, so i don't know what to say about it. *shrugs*

though i would agree that the music kinda meh and that i'd prefer the old one.

  • I think I like the music. Its NBC so you have the chimes. Its like a staple.

  • also, i'm glad they brought back the chime sounds

  • the opening graphics are definitely an upgrade because they are as simple as the last, but brighter and HD quality. WTVJ NBC6 in Miami uses the same music (they try so hard to mimic WNBC), and after hearing it a million times during the news cast, it definitely gets old. Of all the themes in Gari's collection why that one? seriously. . .

  • I don't think NBC 6 tries to copy WNBC at all.. and I mean even if they DO have the same graphics/music, it's because they're both O&O stations... so they're not really "competing"...

  • Actually, that was pretty much an NBC order to use this music in Miami, WTVJ now seems to have little creative control

  • @grahambrunk WRC4 in Washington DC now uses this music. Byebye to the old WRC signature sound.

  • Also, remember it was WTVJ NBC 6 that came up with the local Nightly News option that both WNBC and NBC San Diego copied.

  • this opening is sure beter than the last one! although they should've kept the NYC background

  • Does anybody know what is the industry's standard software to make the "opening" graphics for these news casts?

  • well their previous graphics set (and seems like this as well) uses Avid Deko 3000.

  • wnbc still uses this software, Avid Deko 3000. on occasion, you'll see their old graphics pop up. now i know they use this software for "live" coverage but I'm not sure if the opening and other animations were done with it.

  • hi, i'm wondering if you know, how they made their promos. Like, when they have the 4 new york appear in the new york background. It usaully happens at the end of the promo. Just wondering, if you knew/know how they did that.

  • they still use avid. the mac behind where sue sits, you sometimes see someone working avid on there.

  • I also noticed that Chuck and Sue switched sides of the desk. Wonder what the purpose of that was. Usually anchors are very adament that they always anchor on a certain side of the desk.

  • Hm...the music gives WNBC more of a mysterious feeling rather than that grand New York feeling.

  • i missed the old openinig it was better then this. but its pretty good.also i love the widescreen player.

  • it's the death star! (look at the blue lights in the news room, i mean content center) lol

  • they should add the beautiful manhattan skyline into their new open...

  • Lookie with the YT Widescreen player!

  • yes! looks great

  • This new package is kinda strange, because it's so close to the opens that most of the other NBC O&Os are now using...but it's not.

"New studio and Content Center". Content Center?!? I mean, really?

  • the only thing missing in this package are the random clouds. lol

  • I believe this might be Hothaus, giving the font on the city and town names, as well as the simplicity of the shapes.

  • It's not...it's NBC Artworks.

  • Oh, right. I forgot about them. Thanks.

  • Open looks good, kind of a throwback to the old News 4 New York opens with all those city names. As far as the music goes, WNBC commissioned another update to Gari's NBC Collection...I mean, it's okay, not the best, but it's okay. I think they could have done better as far as that goes.

  • Love the graphics and studio, hate the music.

  • i just realized that chuck and sue swapped seats... cuz of all the clips i saw of chuck and sue anchoring the news... sue always sit on the right side, and chuck on the left...

  • aw man they screws the graphics up i like the old ones better. with the newschannel 4 logo with the rainbow colors. and the wnbc music was alot better. :( man this opening is cool but not the best they have.

  • back when chuck and sue started anchoring, the desks were made out of stone and they had to use candles for the lighting! lol. just kidding. but, yes, bring back the cursive "New York."

  • I think the graphics could be a bit sharper, but they're not too bad. Overall, I think the set is fantastic, but they really should go back to WNBC 2003. It sounds so much better than this Gari crap.

  • Love the new graphics, though I'll miss the cursive "New York" over the bottom of the 4.

  • so will i

  • the music is weird and ill also miss the cursive ny
