I want to try bikram yoga, very badly but I'm worried that I might not be able to take the heat. I've never been in a hot place for too long like, so would it be okay for me? I'm 14. Any tips?
@Japansepuppy2481 You should be fine, just take a few shavasna breaks (on your back, relaxing) during your first few Bikram Yoga sessions. All good instructors will let you go at your own pace.
Y'all were skipping hella poses. You skipped the last 3 of the standing series, and then the next two after wind removing; but whatever makes you happy.
That was a pretty good camel by ol girl for the first time. I believe she's done that one before even if not in a bikram class.
I went to Bikram Yoga for the first time today. I literally thought I was going to die in there. It was one of the hardest things I have done in my life! I spent the first half of the class attempting the poses and the last half on my back having a lie down thinking I was going to pass out.
I will be going back for sure though. No doubt. At the end of the class I felt so energised (probably cos of my nap) and felt like I had accomplished a huge achievement. Next time: less rest!
she would benefit a lot from bikram - her middle upper back is stiff and could use more flexion. my back was the same and is now getting more flexible from bikram. this is good for the lungs and heart...
missing a LOT of poses... triganasana, tree pose, balance stick, a few laying down on the front, other floor ones like rabbit, final twist, and rapid fire breath in the end...
@xoblackout Everyone who goes to do things like this are just about the nicest people you will find... You'll be hard pressed to see a face without a smile or someone who isn't willing to help... I say go for it.
@jaemin100 you will burn about 900 calories a class, so I actually have to make sure I eat a lot or I'll lose too much weight. It can be extremely difficult but you should definitely give it a try. But the losing weight isn't be best part. What's really interesting is how different the world looks when you're done class. All the best
So you're gonna hit the shower after having just done your first 90 minute non-stop Bikram yoga class and you still have full make up on, no signs of having perspired at all and your hair's in place?
good video. I like how you demonstrate the postures with a beginner and advanced yogi side by side. The guy provides excellent examples of what the postures should look like eventually while the girl gives you an idea of what you might expect your first several classes. She looks like she's got some potential!
@L00kng - 36 degrees Centigrade is equal to 97 degrees Farenheit, however, the Bikram Yoga class I go to is heated to 40 degrees C which is equal to 104 degrees F.
Bikram is the best thing i have ever done for my body. I have given up training in a gym. Bikram has transformed by aching body to a much more toned and pain free body, the heat is a major factor... a bit daunting at first but doesnt take long to get used to. Its something that everybody should try. i have been having physio for the last 6 weeks and today i was told by him that my body is knot free and in great condition..the whole treatment was painless which proves that bikram rocks!!!
@fizywig I suppose it depends on how each individual approaches the practice. I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "subtle body" but I don't see how you can practice yoga without bringing some level of awareness to your body
In another video they said kids should not do hot (bikram) yoga because their sweat glands are not developed enough yet. Can be dangerous for them. Should wait til after puberty.
This is great! I am a new Bikram practioner at 50 years old, and can say (1) any issues you have with your body totally disappear in the first class: 105 degrees and challenging positions - no energy left to worry about your body. Love it because every one is truly deeply involved in their practice - no judgements!! (2) I felt an acceleration of increased body strength and health. I run, cycle and practice other yoga styles.. nothing does it like Bikram! I LOVE IT!! :)
I agree. I did 'Bikram' when living in White Rock (alas there is no studio near me here in N.S.); I would leave a 90 minute yoga class and go home and clean my house! I had sooo much energy after the classes... it was bizarre!!! I've a friend whose teen daughter started doing bikram with her: within a month the daughter was winning all her swimming heats on her team for the first time in her life: attributed it all to Bikram.
Yoga is the best way to reconnect with your body. Once I did Bikram, my thoughts were clearer, my body was stronger, my job got easier, and I moved through life with much more ease.
CHRISITIANITY IS DEMONIC IN IT's OWN RIGHT!! CHRISTIANITY worships FALSE Gods...like the Sun God Amen-Ra or Amen Re.. After each prayer in Christianity..you always end each prayer with the chant of this EGYPTIAN SUN GOD..AMEN RA. Thats just one example..should i go on?? THERE R MANY MORE EXAMPLES THAT EXPOSE how Christianity is DEMONIC....
Errrm... You have no position to bash people's religion. People will believe whatever they want to believe, stop what you're trying to do. Learn some Yoga.
Yoga = dangerous. Demonic energy crawling up the spine. India is the source of much evil in the world. yoga is connected to hinduism, which is the religion of satan...

Bikram Yoga studios are actually heated between 40 and 45 degrees Celsius. That's like, 105 to 110 Fahrenheit. Not 36/ 37 degrees Celsius.

this is reducing the profundity of yoga to sophisticated calinesthetics, it completely ignores the subtle body.
