  • WHY WAS THIS SONG NOT ON MY VERSION OF THE ALBUM?! Heri + Ensiferum = HELL YES!!!

  • Now this, is awesome

  • Kudos to Tyr's singer for this one, his voice is good (and he's faroese!)

    Also - Nordman + Ensiferum? life_is_complete.jpg

  • Nordmans vandrare är bättre :<

  • my favorit band and the singer of my other favorit band make a song together

    i came buckets

  • These guys are awesome. =]

  • Vid Odens barm ge oss makt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Definitely moving to Finland when im older!

  • @ThrashMetal290 bring a crate of beer with you then

  • @Corrosive1 Ill be sure of it haha

  • Comment removed

  • Who does the vocals on this?

  • @AmgNoWai the singer from the band "Tyr"

  • @Trolldyr Thanks a lot. :)

  • im from finland . Ensiferum is my favourite band . i still think that original is better but this rocks too

  • Why are all the best songs so damn short...?

  • I happen to love Finnish metal. (Im Swedish) I also love Swedish metal. So lets agree on that. Blame the politicans that you have to learn Swedish. Dont blame the Swedish people. We love you, and we would die for you if the russians will come back.

  • @Octavice

That means a lot for me. And I love Swedes and Swedish and I love learning it. SKÅL!

  • So fucking beautiful! The finish accent is wonderful!

  • I like the original by Nordman, but I do have to say this is a good cover Ensiferum did :)

  • espero q vengan a chilee

  • Much worse than the original.

But that's mostly due to the music- the original was marvelous, while this one wrecks that.

The singer is good, but he gets drowned out by the music.

For an improvement on the original, seek for Loa Falkman- Vandraren, or just press him in the scroll list.

  • @RWBn00b each to his own I guess, I like this version a lot because I grew up with metal

  • Scandinavia! - from Sweden.

  • Comment removed

  • I most definitely like this better than the original. Heri's voice is amazing. It's magically beautiful, and unlike those whiney bitches that front most of the progressive or power bands (clearly, Tyr surpasses the ranks of those shit bands anyway).

  • Excelent!!!!

  • ultima thule vers. is better

  • Yep listening to Ensiferum while playing skyrim as a nord... doesn't get much better thumb if you agree :D

  • Thumbs up even if you're not from Finland !

    PERKELE !!

  • @LFJfromGDR

perkele to you too, good sir!

  • @LFJfromGDR haha perkele vittu, from sweden. all words i know =D

  • @blaxterR

Haha yeah dude, but you MUST know about "Kippis" too! I think it's the magic word in Finland... just like "putain" in mine.

I met many Finnish people overseas and even an arrogant French bastard like me has to admit that those guys are just fucking awesome! /,,/_

(Now excuse me, but i have to drink a shot of Leijona ! Bye)

  • Ensiferum owned up this song. =)

    Hail Finland! ;)

  • Ensiferum site:

    "Vandraren"

    Vandraren *

    (Written by M. Wester / P. Bäckman & H. Bäckman, *Nordman cover)

(bonus track for the From Afar album digibook version. Vocals by Heri Joensen)

    So it's TYR's singer, yes.

  • I wonder how would an Amon Amarth cover of this song sound like.

  • Is it just me or does that sound like TYR's singer?

  • @DeeZiner I was thinking the exact same thing

  • @DeeZiner He is actually!guess it is because Heri can speak (or at least pronounce Swedish, similar to danish) while finnish ensiferum can not XD

  • I wonder does foreing people think our finland is like magical fairy land where everything is fun? So many wish to be from here :d

  • @Nefegoth Maybe not a magical fairy tale land, but a nation (along with Scandinavia) where, to some people, the cultural environment feels more appealing. I do not deny or feel ashamed of my roots, much to the contrary, but I've also learned to appreciate other cultures, especially the ones I feel closely related and subsequently quite fond to. Ones such as finnish culture, or scandinavian, for that matter.

  • Thumb up if you are from Finland :)

  • @Rowwwaan i'm not from Finland but this is much better then the original i hate Nordman

  • @Metalwilly1 You suck, Nordman owns, gtfo.

  • Comment removed

  • @Rowwwaan Heavy metal greetings from Finland, Siivikkala!!

  • @CyberStyle88 Amazing!

  • Comment removed

  • I wish I would come up with a good comment and deserve lot of thumb ups :/

  • Love how the chose a faroese to sing the song. Makes it so much better in my opinion.

  • Just got back from Nordman's version o3o........... I much prefer this epicness cover x3

  • A finnish band does a Swedish cover haha Nice

  • Scandinavia>Finnland

  • @skjaldulfr And yet you call yourself an Islamophobe? Meh.

Fennoscandia is all around pretty much the best area of the world.

  • Heri Joensen is a god! :)

  • oh come on... where ever i go there is an argument about sweden and finland... fuck u all , both countrys are awesome... now lets enjoy the music! (:

  • @AddeXtreme Swedes have Amon Amarth, and Fins have Ensiferum xD I love both bands <3 and this is coming from an american o3o I haves no bias x)

  • welcome to finland? what. finnish band with a faroese guest-singer covering a swedish song.

  • Finland wants say welcome to all of u^_^

  • WTF : Welcome to Finland

  • Yay you owns :D

Sounds so cool when you sing in swedish :D

  • "ENSITYR" TANTA ROOOOOOOOOOOOBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA :) \m/

  • This is just so damn great song! What else i can say ?

  • @BigSteveJohnson

ensiferum and elder scrolls games make a perfect combination.

  • who is singing, the normal vocalist, whats his name?... didnt know he could speak swedish..

Fun fact for those who don't know: Sweden as a world power can still be felt in countries like Finland, who has to learn Swedish in school... still! :P

  • as a nationalist I belive, that every nation should have their own coutry, so I must disagree with you. Hope that day will never came, 'cause in that case I must start a riot

  • I just wish that all the nordic countries would unite under one flag! And one Language!! Old Norse...

  • I don`t hate Swedes. no way. They are we Finns true brothers,

and i hope at we neighbours will be seme old state.

    Heja nordic!

  • I like to think about how powerful the vikings would have been if they had always been united. They dominated Northern Europe for a long time even though they were splintered into factions themselves! That's really impressive. Maybe they could have helped thwart Christianity? I can always dream! lol

  • @ViktorByron

hmm I'd say Old Norse-> East Norse & West Norse

    East Norse-> Swedish & Danish

West Norse-> Norwegian, Faeroese & Icelandic ( with Norwegian being very much modified, Faereose less so and in a different direction and Icelandic with the least change, very little grammatical change, but considerable vowel changes).

    And Týr are awesome btw.

  • @dickeybarret Yes, you're right. Faroese comes from the western old norwegian, which is itself a variant of the western old norse, mixed with a danish. Faroese's modifications are due to gaelic and norsk influences, that pretty much differentiated it from icelandic. Týr's an awesome band, I know them since Pól was the singer. Hold the heathen hammer high!

  • @ViktorByron This is sung by Heri Joensen from Týr, who is faeroese, so his accent may be further different. I speak neither so i couldn't say.

  • @dickeybarret I was percieving the voice sounded a bit different from Markus's but if so, the faroese descend from the norwegian, so it's maybe it sounds more like them. I listened to the original and it sounds a bit different. Thanks for the information by the way.

  • this sounds exactly like TYR. has there been some mistake? Either way this song is awsome!

  • @Inngrown lol you were totally right actually, the vocals of this song are performed by the Heri Joensen of Tyr, but the instrumental part by Ensiferum

  • I'm starting to study swedish, and i'd like to know how far Markus's accent on this song sounds from the actual swedish accent.

  • @ViktorByron The dialect are east-swedish or what some would say finnish-swedish (finnlands-svenska), I think it is a quite cool dialect. My own dialect is that of Stockholm. There are a lot of dialects in Sweden and some I have hard to understand.

  • @KungFrolic That's cool! So the original song was written in svenska-svenska and Markus sings the same thing in finnlands-svenska? Thank you very much for responding, helps a lot. Tack så mycket!

  • I fucking love this song

  • hate to be an a**hole but this cover is bad...

they tried making a metal cover of a folk song wich itself is not a bad thing.

however i don't hear anything special like a guitar that's crying. only thing i hear is the basic drum rythm of metal and basic guitar rythm... and ofc a basic guitar solo... i wish they brought abit more flavour in

so judging from that it's a bad cover.

however i do not dislike metal or something.

just saying this cover is bad...

  • @MrSuddenstriker This cover's bad, but only in your opinion. The original song does not offer them a lot to explore, on the other hand, sometimes the simpler the better. I think it's a fairly good cover, they don't need to get a simple, four chord folk song and make it a rhapsody.

  • I wish I was from Finland.

  • @BloatedBLARG

when listening to ensiferum, it crosses all bariers, making where you are from irrelevant.

  • @BloatedBLARG its not finnish, its a swedish song !! LONG LIVE SWEDEN VIKINGS!

  • @BFchara But the band is from Finland...

  • @BloatedBLARG Only... It's in Swedish

  • @Abhraxxas Only... It's from Finland

  • @samusuomi96 are you stupid? it's swedish

  • @TesWalkthroughs Wow are you fucking retarded? They sing in Swedish but it's a Finnish band you fucking cock sucking cunt

  • @samusuomi96 if there is a retard here, it's you. i never said the band was from finland, but YOU said that the song was from finland, wich proves what an ignorant kid you are. It clearly says Vandraren (Nordman COVER).

  • @TesWalkthroughs Ensiferum = Finnish band = From Finland.. One song doesn't make them Swedish What the fuck are you trying to prove you fat cunt?

  • @samusuomi96 the band is from finland, the song is from sweden, just get that and go back to sucking your mum's dick, midget fucker, reply if you are a ugly fucktard

  • @TesWalkthroughs I never said Song is not from Sweden you stupid shitface asshole.

  • @samusuomi96 first of all, i now know that you are a ugly fucktard, "Only... It's from Finland"- that is your statement, wich leads to that you actually said that the song was from finland, i have proven that you are wrong, so please grow up and stop posting pathetic replies that just proves what a kid you are. peace

  • @TesWalkthroughs Wow, you're actually taking this argument seriously? Get a life you fucking piece of shit?

Song is from Sweden why the fuck would it be from Finland? You're stupid as fuck

  • @samusuomi96 you are the one saying that the song was from finland, that means that you are a fucktard, go shove your nolife thoughts up your vagina, fag. go suck dick again because thats the only way your famlily makes money, oh and i blocked you :) have a nice day fag

  • @TesWalkthroughs First you said that the band is Swedish, then I said it's from Finland, now you're saying That I said the song is from Sweden? Are you fucking stupid?

  • @samusuomi96 The song is Swedish. The singer(Heri Joensen) is Faroese(from a band called Tyr) and he is making a guest appearance. The band Ensiferum is Finnish though

  • @TheEmpireofEagles

SOME ONE FINALLY GOT IT RIGHT!!! THANK YOU!!!

  • @TheEmpireofEagles I know?

  • @TesWalkthroughs Blocking = Surrender

  • @TesWalkthroughs You're the one making pathetic replies.

  • @Abhraxxas Gosh, I would take it if you thought that any other band was from Sweden, but to think Ensiferum is from Sweden.. You should be ashamed young warrior

  • @Haarissssssssss I know the band is from Finland dude. I mean the lyrics are in Swedish.. If this band would come from Sweden and to have that Swedish accent.. i would be ashamed. So, I know that this band is from Finland.

  • @Abhraxxas my bad

  • I LOVE the original and this one :P

  • i wish i was from scandinavia :/

  • @SuperFunkyRaccoon1 you are inside =D

  • I am swedish and i am proud to have finland as neighbour! Finland, makes the best fucking metal ever. I hail you, and ensiferum for this.

  • Awesome band

  • what is this song about?

  • @MaReekaka a lonely tramp

  • @Waz65klms It's Færøyene ;)

  • Metal 4 ever !!!!. see you Wacken !!!

  • @collieweed agreed!

  • @collieweed Du har så rätt!

  • im a finish american i dont care much for hockey but i know good metal when i here it and this is great

  • i like sweden and finland and im german hey its not hard to love swe or fin whats the problem why did finland hate swe and swe fin ? i dont understand it its the same with germany and france?^^ we germans accept or try to accept frenchys but they hate us only and that makes it hard to like they and frenchys are very very arrogant ....thats make it realy hard to like they.....

  • @freak4388 Only " frenchys" are arrogant, real french aren't. And I don't think that the " conflict " Sweden-Finland is like Beetween you and me =) But i like germany ... But I prefer France ;)

  • @freak4388 we finnish and our brothers in sweden mostly just hate each other in a friendly way (its a very big deal if its a Finland vs Sweden match) but otherwise we are friendly towards each other

  • Comment removed

  • Almost perfect swedish! :D Awesome song, perhaps even better than the original.

  • Sareth987 dont fucking judge a whole nation by someone's actions

  • Why hate each other? The whole Scandinavian area creates the best metal in the world. Though to my knowledge Finland isn't Scandinavian, none the less that part of the world ROCKS!

  • @Philter123456789 Finland is part of Scandinavia, Island ain't though.

Norden= Sverige, Danmark, Norge, Finland, Island.

    Skandinavien= Sverige, Danmark, Norge, Finland.

  • @Arachnomen actually Finland is part of Fennoscandia, only Northern Finland is part of "real" Scandinavia.

  • What, Týr singer Heri???? :D:D:

  • Comment removed

  • This is a fucking awesome song. I've heard the original, the Ultima Thule version, and this one. They're all epic.

  • yeah I just have heard this song from nordman but metal version is much better

  • awesome music but i prefer Amon Amarth

  • Is either Markus or Sami singing this?

  • @dannyboi1612

    Heri Joensen from Tyr.

  • Comment removed

  • sounds like Tyr O_o

  • @Noir7045 Maybe because Heri Joensen is singing? ;)

  • @Thorondor123 yeah thats what I was thinkingXD but why is heri singing on a song that ensiferum is coveringXD

  • @Noir7045 I don't know the whole story, but they have toured and made a lot of other stuff together.

  • @Thorondor123 oh ^^ didn´t know that until now^^ but it sounds fucking good^^

  • At least i don´t understand a word of it.

Buit i like the language, (They had done some songs in Faroe Island language.)

Some say that an Islander can read very old books without problems, but in the non island northern contries it takes a lot of traning to understand, and going back to the viking age it´s not even sounds like the same langugae.

  • About that language thing (this song is in Swedish)

Faroe Islands and Island has their very own languages, probably the oldest living languages of the North. I read some runes on an aincient stone and recognised that some runes are still in (phonetic) use there. Think it´s a part of the origin of all the modern Nordic languages (exept Finland, wich belongs to the Finland-ugrian languages)

Finnish accent is easy to recognise, but Faroe accent are seldom heard outside.

  • @sheep1ewe I'm not too sure about runes being the source for nordic languages but I am sure that all the nordic languages *except finnish* spawned from old norse which is part of the germanic subgroup in indo-european languages. As a matter of fact norwegian fall under the same phonetic cathergory as icelandic and faroese.

  • @borjeman Possible, Norwegian of today is a bit divided in 2 written languages; "Nynorsk" and "Bokmål" tha1 one is a more modern reconstruction of many words.

  • @borjeman

The "viking language" Fornnordiska(i dont know the english name) vas divided in undecategories belonged to resp. areas where thay was spoken, Modern Nothern languages outside the Islands was later infuenced by modern danish (wich had some elements from other central euopean languages as i guess) and Nedderdüütsch. But Island and Faroe Islands, etc languages remained intact and divided into their own languages.

  • Svara på det här videoklippet... Sorry for my english....

  • ... This sucks, I forgot my set of headphones at home and this pair I found sucks, It'll let me hear music but not vocals.... :((((

  • I'd say I wished that this was in English, but then it probably wouldn't sound as good. Instead I'll say I WISH I COULD SPEAK THAT LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Deanzumwalt All the nordic languages are so beautyful as lyrics in songs. It's a shame that almost everyone chooses to sing in english even though it's not as good to sing in...

  • @Rqoiz my fav languages are finish, german and swedish :D

  • @Rqoiz A crying shame ; ' (

  • @Rqoiz I'm not so sure that I agree... I'm Swedish but I prefer some raw English, but this is a classic! :P

  • So many arguing about the language ;P The song is sung in Swedish by Týrs singer Heri Joensen who comes from Faroe Islands. And as we all know Ensiferum comes from Finland ;P

Awsome cover of an awsome song. ;D

  • Comment removed

  • @justmevlad1994 It's in swedish, I guarantee it (me being swedish and all. ;D

  • ahh oh my god i just got chills on every inch of my body

  • A wonderful cover of a fantastic song by my dear neighbours to the east (and a färöbo)

Thanks alot Finland for creating such awesome band as Ensiferum!
