I used to be a mod for tech tv, then when they became G4 i became very un happy and my friend who was a fellow mod of the G4 forums got together and banned Tommy (Tallarico?) and some other show host from the forums and banned a few lame forum members as well late at night. Granted they revoked my moderator rights, it was worth it. Sonce the G4 admins and mods treated us Tech tv mods like shit after the merge.

They are not "brutally honest". Basically, whenever they praise a game its always about how "the graphics are soooo good!" or "Insert something here* never felt this good/satisfying/etc, without any logic or reasoning to back up their praise.

The same goes for their "scorn"-- which is not really scorn, but rather bitching and moaning about "lack of innovation" or "TEH GEEAM IZ TOO HARD!".

I prefer the new X-Play to the old one. They still have comedy but it's not as ridiculous. They have hands on, interviews, previews and of course reviews. It's a more well-rounded gaming show now. (Extended Play is still the best though)

Judgment Day used to be the serious side of gaming reviews and X-play the entertaining wacky game reviews. They should have kept X-play the same and just revived Judgment Day to be the serous game review show. It probably would have still had x-play be more popular but it would have made every body happy. Now x-play is like watching a movie remake, it maybe new and flashy but it just doesn't have the same impacted of the original or is just unsatisfying...I choose the latter

I have not watched x-play in years not since G-4 became a spike clone and lil to do with gaming. Even before tech-TV merge brought X-play and AFTS G4 captured the my inner geek. I enjoyed shows like cheat, portal and icons. X-play was the icing on the cake of win.

To me the "Brutally Honest game reviews" seems to have gone. There new reviews that I last saw that make me think old x-play would have not been so neutral with.

X-play was full of zany comedy and pop-culture references. Not only were the review informative but they added some entertainment. They even did skits in between reviews with jokes for the geeky inner gamer in all of us to enjoy. Now it's like a gameboy you can play it but you can't enjoy like you used to and you end up getting bored.

X-Play is not brutally honest. It's shock-TV a'la MTV that riles the viewers up - except X-Play does it by raising controversy surrounding games, like trashing perfectly good games, for example. So what if a game has an excellent score, or has great graphics and storyline - no, if Suessler and crew don't like it, it's getting low ratings, and that throws all the fanboys into a fury, meaning better ratings for them. Period. Poor programming, period.

I know, I used to defend G4 from people who were constantly saying it sucked, but in the past year and half, Jesus, they've gone so fucking downhill. I think only about 10 shows actually play regularly on G4 now, and only 2 are about video games, or even electronics if I can remember. X-play, AOTS... I never wanted to sit through all of AOTS(I just liked certain segments, and X play has become so bland. Sure, it was just stupid humor back then, but at least it was something I could enjoy.
