@dumbfk12 As everything that King Midus touched turned to gold, everything that Tiertex touched turned to crap. They worked their same crappy magic on "Strider Returns" for Sega Genesis.
@MewtwoGenetic God I hated it when I bought it, I was expected an arcade port. I was in denial and kept playing it and eventually it grew on me. One glorious day, I beat it and was shocked. Mainly because I never finish games.
@rockfistus That it does, with the almost-identical Sega Genesis version coming in at a close second. Damn, I can't believe 2 years have passed since I posted that comment! Where goes the time?
This version it's just terrible. Even for a 8 bit system. Ninja Gaiden was much better and was 8 bit. I'm not saying that the console is terrible but this Strider version was so horribly programmed that kept me thinking why SEGA released it.
They don't acknowledge it anywhere, but this is at least completely based on the Tiertex version, with the same horrible flaws and omissions as every home computer version (No interactive music, no proper hill run scene, no proper shuttle ride, no gravity switching, boring boss battles, etc). It isn't quite in the same league of shame as the C64 port, although that one was at least bad enough to be funny ...
Sure. Not to mention every strider would be unlockable. Even this Strider on Master system, along with the horrid Strider 2 for Genesis. why not include them?
i like so much from this version, because i used play this when i was a kid.. mega drive version is very hard, and i dont play this so much, but i play mega drive version many years after ive played master system
For a long time, this was the only version of Strider I knew, and I was completely baffled what all the fuss was about. One may imagine my surprise at finally playing the Genesis version... Thanks, however, for reaching the end - such as it is - of this version (something I never had the patience to achieve).

I grew up with the Master System, but this version of the game should never have happened.

Ruined by the loud volume and the "unregistered Hypercam" watermark. The Master System version of Strider is obviously a piece of shit.

Amazing, looks like the Amiga one but its faster and smoother.. go figure!

@wawawis It flies. The Gen port kicked ass!

@wawawis Check out comparison pics of the arcade/gen versions and it's surprising how different they are though.

The "reprogrammed by SEGA" is misleading. they basically ported the (horrible) Amiga version, made by Tiertex, to the Master System.

I played through Strider I & II on PS1 and think it needs a 360/PS3 'reimagining' really bad.

How about a Smash Bros 3D sidescroller approach using 2D high res sprites.

Like Bionic Commando Rearmed and a sequel in full 3D as a Prince of Persia-style platformer

time limite is a problem in strider, you cannot explore the levels very well because time :(
cristfc 4 years ago
I had this game on my master system, it could have been such a great game if there wasn´t that fucking ass time limit in all over the game.

i have hear too much this music :) and i dont know other strider games when i was kid :) this game is very funny :)

This one looks a bit Crappy, and you have to listen to the same Music. But It's good.
