hey i have it and now I am a nurse and I just got my masters in nurseing os misspink punkykat your right! My advice is never give up and never say they cant do something because they have aspergers. my family never treated me different so I had no idea until I was an adult that I had it! last week I went to my old doctor that told my mom that I was never going to be normal because I had aspergers showed him my masters and his face truned white.
I have AS (although technicaly I'm probably HFA), I'm 25 and still find it hard to use utensils...well maybe Western utensils. I've found chopsticks much easier to manipulate once I learned how to use them. Obsessions have always been my strongest autistic trait. Maybe your son wanted to learn WHY people start war, not war itself.
Thanks for posting this video! Your first son must be quite an interesting dude. Four years is a young age to be officially diagnosed.
I have Asperger's Syndrome and I don't like vague responses either.
My late brother, who died 11 years ago, was similar to your first son. He was interested in excavators and cars, and as a teen he was into muscle cars and [unfortunately] heavy metal music.
It takes people quite a while to admit to such a condition, as it's hard to explain without scaring.
to get your baby to stop pulling your hair, you have to be serious with him, you can't laugh when you say stop, or he will think it is ok to do, and will repeat it over and over. just to let you know.
@AwsomeChick82 From my understanding babies do not understand the word no till and older age at the age he was in this video he is just exploring everything. I never had to get firm with him and now he does not pull hair that was about a 1 week stage. Every person's parenting style is different and that is just mine thank you for letting me know though.
@31correlli No as far as I know he does not have OCD but I do know alot of people with Aspergers also have something else such as OCD my son's "something else" is developmental coordination disorder
You are SO sweet to do this video!! And, thank you for shouting me out!! Is the hand movement called Hand Posturing? Augustine still does not use utensils correctly!! But, it is more because of the feeding issues!! This is SO informative and I SO happy you made this!! I feel blessed to have met you and connect with you!!
@alandamandamama they explained the hand thing as "stimming" he gets so much input it overwhelms him so he needs a way to "release" it can come from overstiimulation ie. noises, sights, touch etc. He still does it just not as noticably I think he gets made fun of alot in school he does stim alot right before bed when he lays dow kind of releasing the input from the day.
Great video!!! We need more like this one and Amanda's. We as parents have so many questions and sometimes our doctors just don't listen and don't help.

Augustine does not really play with his toys... he "swims" in them and/or dumps toys. Super interesting and this makes me think more too!!
