Yeah, sure, blame the actions of Saddam and Bin Laden on the US, the Great Satan. The US didn't "start" Saddam (who began by nationalizing a Western-owned oil company) or Bin Laden. Bin Laden wasn't funded by the US (see Wikipedia). Both the US and Bin Laden helped fund Afghan resistance to the USSR, but Bin Laden was anti-American even then. The US didn't support the later Taliban either. The Taliban overthrew the groups that the US had supported.

The US did support Saddam against Khomeini's Iran to make sure it didn't take over Iraq. It also supported Stalin against Hitler during WWII, a good decision. That didn't make the US the "root" of everything Stalin or Saddam did then or later. The US reduced its support of Saddam when the threat from Khomeini diminished (many other countries didn't). What matters now, though, isn't the root (whatever misled persons may believe that the root is) but whom to support now.

Saddam killed hundreds of thousands of Shiite and Kurd dissidents (Sunni too) and his ambition and stupidity caused the deaths of about a million persons. The Taliban regime was one of the most bigoted and oppressive in the modern world. Not content with oppressing the people themselves, it destroyed an ancient Buddhist monument. It also allowed Al Qaeda to train openly after 9/11. Both regimes are gone and good riddance. Let's support the better regimes that replaced them.

Not a one of those persons would have been killed if it hadn't been for the stupid and oppressive deeds done by Saddam and the Taliban. Also, as for the technique of fighting itself, the US makes mistakes but its policy is to take considerable risks to try to avoid killing innocent persons, while its enemies use them as shields, and spread terror by intentionally bombing marketplaces and mosques.

They're the ones responsible for the continuing deaths, they and those who favor them over US-supported governments.

The current Iraqi government has passed some laws that reflect aspects of Islam that are important to most of its people. The majority has the right to rule, but if it doesn't show restraint in exercising that power, it becomes a tyranny of the majority. And, remember, we are all minorities on some issues.

A just government lets the majority rule but doesn't oppress minorities. It gives individuals civil rights and lets them control much of what's important to them about their individual lives. This is good for them and good for society as a whole. That way minorities on particular issues will be willing to suffer some setbacks when they lose an election. Democracy can't work, though, if the losers know that losing an election means that they'll be utterly crushed.

The attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki happened over half a century ago, and ended a war that the US entered when it was treacherously attacked at Pearl Harbor. Those attacks saved the many casualties on both sides that would have resulted from an invasion of Japan, which would have been defended as fiercely as Okinawa (the taking of which caused horrific losses). If they also served to frighten Stalin, then that served the cause of peace too.
