There is debate as to how far they went with the saucer shaped crafts they were building in the 40s, some say the nazi's perfected the technology, but it was not a great war machine, hense why you didnt see fleets of saucers in the air...it was more for exploration and such.
US also designed and tested a few models also, but it didnt seem to go much further than test beds over here. (that we know of)
