  • Only just under 2k. XD

  • Alot of old school V8s are going turbo now, and the scary part is, for engines designed for NA, you can sure put a lot of pressure into those damn things, i think 1.4 BAR, I seen even a economy slant six take up to 24 PSI STOCK.

  • The 588ci version of this motor made 750hp at 5250rpm NA, on 87 octane.

  • A 572 What? It's hard to be impressed if you dont know what your looking at. Seems to run good. Chevy,Ford,Mopar.

    A little help please!

  • None of the above. Google true power llc dohc and you'll find their website. It is an original, all new, much heavier duty design than anything ever before.

  • @scuferrari It's none of those. Why would a brand name matter for you to be impressed?

This is a True Power/ Schubeck motor. It's right in the beginning of the video.

  • @StabyMcStabsFace

A brand name matters , Is it made from OEM aftermarket parts everyone can Buy Build and Race?.if so Yes it's impressive. Or a one of a kind ,every piece hand built, top secret, CNC machined Block made from a solid block of magnesium by NASA, that costs$600000.00 with Formula One heads that cant be bought for any price. Then it's not so impressive. I'm sure it's probably based on a OEM engine though.

  • @scuferrari It was loosely based on the 426 Hemi. It's a ground-up motor though. Nothing OEM, but the block is cast, and most have full water jackets. There's a Schubeck dyno mule for sale for $48500, so it's not NASA expensive. But that is without blowner. It made 750hp at 5250rpm NA on 87 octane, btw.

  • what base is this engine? chevy...ford.... i dono. can some one tell me?

  • @racecardriver467 Schubeck

  • How old are you people 12?

  • Yeah, a 400hp B18a is gonna get great gas mileage because gas mileage, much like horsepower, is a direct reflection how many acronyms are in your motor. Acronyms determine technology. A B18A has DOHC and VTEC and SH-AWD. 3 times the acronyms and three times the technology of an LS1.

Also the dyno chart won't basically be a peaky 400 rpm little spike near 8000 rpm. And it won't cost $15k to build and tune and also won't dump the bottom end on the pavement after 3 months of driving it around.

  • the cammer was indeed a feat of technology for it's day.

well guys i guess the new motto for honda is "effciently slow."

  • your fucking arrogant. any one can throw a big ass engine in a car to make it fast in a straight line... ive never seen a car comparable to a civic go as fast around some auto cross cones... even then, last night, fucking miatias with ONLY suspension were throwing laps down ten seconds faster then a BIG OLE V8 MOOSTANGS... your a fucking douche.. go fuck your mom in her dodge cause thats all about what your good for

  • and your the dipshit who acts like volumetric effciency wins races, well i got front page news for your ass.

  • i said that american engines are shit... thats my point im getting at you fucking douche... and also, yes, having good engine background DOES in races... go to any real race and look for an american V8 beating other cars around a track... it wont happen

  • you must be living under a rock to shoot out all these blanket statements left and right. go to any race track and watch the last two generations of corvette walking all over bmws, porsches, and dear god almost any 4 cylinder car on the planet. your backgrounds, effciencies, and lack of any usable torque doesn't do shit to keep up with easily the most mod friendly engine class to date.

  • corvette... thats it right? cause that was the ONLY car at the track ive ever seen come close to beating anything... there was a BMW 2002 kicking a viper ACR's ass... that things got 105 hp dude with a 1.5 liter engine... it has nothing to do with torque. and this vette the other day as a enormous wing with a 50 shot of nos, full suspension, exhaust and slicks with offset wheels... hmm. american cars suck balls- one fucking example. no lemans cars either.. street only.

  • i highly doubt anyone would track a stock bmw from 1966 to begin with not to mention the over 1000 lb. difference in the two cars, you're comparing apples to oranges bud and it's the only argument you have.

american cars suck but somehow we have produced the fastest vehicle in the world, the top performing car in it's price range, and countless hypercars from silva, mosler and the like. all street cars!

  • can i say 1 thing?viper douchebag

  • Toreyjw1, NOTHING to do with Torque? I wondered what was so bad about your bullshit comment until I read that.

    Torque is EVERYTHING.

    Horsepower = Torque X Engine RPM / 5,252.

Without producing Torque, the god damn engine would not even run. Torque is needed to twist the crankshaft, transmission, driveshaft, rear differential, and you've got it, the axle!

Man, I know your comment is from a very long time ago, but, you're a clueless little ricer.

    "Torque don matta!"

    Dipshit..

  • THANK GOD REALITY CAME! I think you destroyed his world. :p

  • I don't see why everyone's bickering about Hondas here... the old Ford DOHC Cammer 427 would waste the hell outta the Hondas and the Chevy! And it was made in the sixties!

  • The Ford was SOHC, and old news when it came out. Look up Miller/Offerhauser.

  • Sorry - SOHC's what I meant - I've been working on too many Taurus' lately lol.

It wasn't necessarily considered "old news" considering that the dual-quad version put out 657hp @ 7,500 rpm and 575ft/lbs @ 4,200 rpm ... out of the box.

  • Ford agreed not to race it when they saw the A-925 DOHC Hemi, so it wasn't god-like. That's all I'm saying. Nearly every brand had played with OHC, in a big block, by the end of the sixties. The Miller/Offys were rocking DOHC and intercooled superchargers all the way back in 1927. 380hp out of 183ci in 1927 wasn't too shabby.

  • The badass V8!!! Fuck gas mileage, I want power, and a B18 will never make the same power as a 454. No way in Hell!!!

  • yes it will if u can figure a way to make it run at 30,000 rpm

    it all caled physics

  • your a dumb ass... ive seen a b18 put down 750 wheel horsepower... now compare the volumetric efficiency between the two engines and then come back and try to talk shit on honda engines... liter per liter, the b18 will kick this things fucking ass... ALL DAY. douche bag

  • Displacement is completely pointless. The GM LS7 engine has a whopping seven liter displacement, but only weighs a bit over four hundred pounds, but produces 500 horsepower. In comparison, the Nissan VQ35DE v6 is a 3.5 liter V6 producing 300 horsepower, but weighs 350 lbs.

There are only three attributes that matter for an engine: Horsepower, torque, and weight.

  • no, horsepower per liter... 350 divided by 3.5 = 100 hp per

    liter

500 hp divided by 7 = 71 hp per liter... making the nissan 29.9 percent MORE efficient per unites of volume than the chevy engine

  • If it's turbo/super charged, this saying is null and void

  • There's more to it than that. Breadth of powerband (area under the curve). A cracked out little 4 banger turbo with a 500 rpm powerband between 7500 and 8000 rpm usually won't be as fast as a tractable engine.

  • in most 4 cyl engines theres more than 500 rpm of powerband.. more like 3-4k.. from 4-8k rpm theres the power.. the amount of our power band is how much rpm ur engines can handle before they hit redline.. wats the point of having SO much hatred directed at A TYPE OF ENGINE.. thats one of the dumbest things ive ever heard of in a long time...

  • You hit the nail on head.

  • No, just Torque and Weight, Torque makes the Horsepower.

  • What about money? a 454 with headers and a bigger intake (cost me $400) will dominate any honda with 2 grand in it, but it is pretty amazing to get that much power out of a 2.0, i give that props

  • how much did that 454 cost you originally... cause i know it cost waay more than two grand in running condition

  • No, it cost 300 bucks...back in 1965, it was a spare dirt track motor, and it still runs great!

  • in 65....

  • can you not understand the cost effectiveness of an american v8 yet either? blocks are and will be dirt cheap unless you go and buy some all aluminum stroker

  • AMEN

  • You can get a 454 Motorhome motor and trans and rear end for like 75 dollars, and the rest is there. Lol Stop trying to make it look hard, we use ANY THING 454 related, well, for me 440 related, mopar or nocar.

  • but it will still be slower than this you dumb son of a bitch lol

  • Heh. At how many million RPM and under how much boost? And even in a stripped out rollerskate with lexan windows it still won't break out of the 10s? Yeah. We had a "500 hp" B18 turbo guy running his trap up at thunder valley near OKC. Couldn't break out of the mid 14's. I beat him with my 1980 small block chevy tow rig.

  • well he must have been 1 bad driver.. im sure most hondas w/500 hp at 2000 lbs can break out of the 14 sec range...

  • Some one's never seen a 70 SuperBird on an oval.

Due to NASCAR and EPA, the Super Bird was outlawed in 1971, or 1972,m whichever works, Now the question is, Why would it be outlawed during NASCAR's Heyday, the fact is this: It was too much, nothing could beat mopar's ace. If fitted with the right tires the goddamn thing could reach 250 MPH on a super speedway, BTW..THATS VERY FAST!

It can already reach 200 MPH, Why stop there?!

  • Try a 426 Hemi from a Superbird :O

  • The big ass domestic V8 anyday, that is if it is just for kicks. For everyday, I still take

    an unmodified Chevy V8.

  • The state of "ejikayshun" these days! It's downright Orwellian! Dumb them down, mis-educate them, confuse them really good, then they won't be a threat to the powers-that-be anymore.

  • I'll take the domestic V8, thank you. You need to update your brains knowledge of current V8 technology, and delete the stereotypes of engines of yesteryear. Yes, huge cams with lots of overlap drink lots of gas. But that's only one of many approaches to building a powerful engine.

  • That's actually quite an easy task, with a pushrod motor the same size.

  • Yes a stock american V8 will eat gas. That same V8 dry sumped and with an electric water pump, needle bearing shaft rockers, etc will give you an easy 550hp+ with great mileage and no turbo lag. Besides, a B18's no good for rear wheel drive because they rotate backwards...

  • Now maybe if you could have put some HP and torque numbers from the readout on a split screen - - what kind of power did this beastie make?

  • I'd guestimate 2500hp+. It's 904 cubic inches (yes, you read it right, 904cid or 15L) and the NA version makes 1200lb-ft of torque on pump gas...

  • What are you talking about?? Did I miss something. 575 Cubic inches, not 904

  • @r4y30n This is not a Schubeck 904

  • sure the vid is boring, but it sure makes nice music... plus imagine this thing stuffed in a 3rd gen Z28.... :)

  • oh wow OMG this is so damn ...AW not haha this shit as .. boring

  • Ah, well. I guess those of us with little or no mechanical inclination WOULD find this a tad bit boring. Silly me.

  • And apparently Hooked on Phonics didn't work for you either...

  • This is the stupidest thing i've ever seen. How exciting!
