1/2 the problem was google checkout refusing at accept maesto cards as used by 50% or Europe for purchases of apps priced in $

Googles response was to stop Meastro cards being accepted on Google checkout, thus anoying 50% of Europe.

Android apps are generally free = no purchasing fee= lower revenue than the apple apps

The one Android phone I've seen someone using in Japan so far was completely useless as a phone. No infrared for exchanging contacts. Has Bluetooth, but can't use it for file or contact exchange. Couldn't do much more than check gmail.

If there are apps that prove my impression wrong, I'm curious as hell to learn more about them.
