Another building called Ping'an International Finance Center in Shenzhen China which is currently under construction will surpass Shanghai Tower as the tallest building in China upon its completion in 2015.. That building will be 648 meters tall, 16 meters taller than Shanghai Tower.
I like the design of the building, its like an enclosed cylindrical tube with different sections. Good thing too that its environmentally sustainable...thats the way for most new skyscrapers from now I think

Beautiful building, at 636 meters, it will be the second tallest in the world after Dubai. It's ironic that the Chinese are building their third skyscraper in Shanghai already, while in NYC we still have a hole at ground zero=at least it still looks like a hole!! But even the designs for Freedom Tower look outdated compared to this.
@45petrus Ya I hear ya. In the US there is a lot of politics. Who knows when they are going to get things done. There is the mosque thing that will linger forever. And you go to the front lines contractors can take forever to build it. In my city of 400,000 people, it takes 2 years to fix a part of the road, b/c they ran out of money. There is no problems like that in China. Thats for sure.
The view from the World Financial Center's 100th floor observation deck is damn amazing. but the Tower...OMG. I can't wait to see it when it finishes. But of course construction has to wait until after the EXPO. and won't be done before I am out of school here :(

I am French and also European and Human and when I see what we are able to do right now, how tall we can build, I am very proud no matter if it is in UAE, China, States or wherever. I am Taiwanese and I believe that China is handing towards a bright and prosperous future. I might be flamed or be labeled as a "traitor" from other Taiwanese ppl, but there is no shame of been Chinese as it does necessarily mean you are born or come from China. Regardless one should not deny their blood and heritage... The people in Taiwan should be proud to call themselves Taiwanese AND Chinese. The spotlight is now on you China. =)
Meh. The English term Chinese is too ambigous. It means both Chinese nationality and ethnicity. While many Taiwanese would definitely be opposed to being called 中國人(people of Chinese nationality), they won't object to being called 華人(of Han Chinese ethnicity and culture).

@xXJackyLooXx Shanghai Tower will be the tallest building in China for about a year once the construction is finished in 2014... Another building called Ping'an International Finance Center in Shenzhen China which is currently under construction will surpass Shanghai Tower as the tallest building in China upon its completion in 2015.. That building will be 648 meters tall, 16 meters taller than Shanghai Tower.

I like the design of the building, its like an enclosed cylindrical tube with different sections. Good thing too that its environmentally sustainable...thats the way for most new skyscrapers from now I think

Beautiful building, at 636 meters, it will be the second tallest in the world after Dubai. It's ironic that the Chinese are building their third skyscraper in Shanghai already, while in NYC we still have a hole at ground zero=at least it still looks like a hole!! But even the designs for Freedom Tower look outdated compared to this.

@45petrus Ya I hear ya. In the US there is a lot of politics. Who knows when they are going to get things done. There is the mosque thing that will linger forever. And you go to the front lines contractors can take forever to build it. In my city of 400,000 people, it takes 2 years to fix a part of the road, b/c they ran out of money. There is no problems like that in China. Thats for sure.

Beautiful design.
As an engineer I'm really interested in the details of this building, very eco friendly.
Love the double skin and wind turbines. The internal concept picture looks amazing, green planting and spectacular views.
It'll be a wonderful place to work, shop an eat.

The view from the World Financial Center's 100th floor observation deck is damn amazing. but the Tower...OMG. I can't wait to see it when it finishes. But of course construction has to wait until after the EXPO. and won't be done before I am out of school here :(

Sorry guys, but I don t understand why we are talking about who is the best and blablabla... I am French and also European and Human and when I see what we are able to do right now, how tall we can build, I am very proud no matter if it is in UAE, China, States or wherever. One of my hope is that will be able to build and develop efficently and ecologicly and China has a big challenge like any other country developped or not. I am really happy to see that will have a new vision of how to build.

@Ju75019 .......The lead architect for this building is an American- Marshall Strabala. He owns the architecture firm that is designing it as well- 2 Design Architecture. Marshall also did the Burj Dubai / Khalifa.

United States is the strongest country in the World. We have a Limit in the height of our Sky scrapers, that height is 2000ft tall Which is the Chicago Spire. The Empire State Building was built to help new yorkers during the Great Depression in 1931.

Emil1787 honestly i am really concerned for the US. Its a big knockout that the US owes china money. While china on the other hand is developing in every way and quietly. US is no more the worlds leader in the GNP. The European is the leader and china's own is coming up at a rapid rate which means that by 2020 & 2030 the US will have to give up its throne, except if Americans start working hard Today like the Chinese.

@101andrewj US spending on military is a bottomless pit. It raises the GDP, but it doesn't really help the economy. China is catching up fast building up the economy. It may be 40 years behind the US, but these past 20 years China has made a huge leap. In the 90's you laugh about China. But now they see that China is on her way to super power. Yes US military is impressive. Can't argue with that. It'd be a lose-lose situation if the US go to war with China. (Vietnam, Iraq, you get my point.)

I am Taiwanese and I believe that China is handing towards a bright and prosperous future. I might be flamed or be labeled as a "traitor" from other Taiwanese ppl, but there is no shame of been Chinese as it does necessarily mean you are born or come from China. Regardless one should not deny their blood and heritage... The people in Taiwan should be proud to call themselves Taiwanese AND Chinese. The spotlight is now on you China. =)

Meh. The English term Chinese is too ambigous. It means both Chinese nationality and ethnicity. While many Taiwanese would definitely be opposed to being called 中國人(people of Chinese nationality), they won't object to being called 華人(of Han Chinese ethnicity and culture).
