I just bought the Gretsch G5120, but I noticed at the neck pickup (PU) is twice as loud as the bridge PU. I tried lowering the neck PU and rasing the Bridge PU. But, there is very little movement. I even raised the string screws on the bridge PU - no change. What do you recommend? If I put on new pick ups, what brand name, and will it fit existing pickup screw holes.
ive played this guitar and let me tell ya ..its sounds like SHIT compared to a REAL GRETSCH...meaning a vintage one..which I had a chance to get in NYC at RUDYS for $19000....what a guitar a real 50s original all these tribute and reliced fakes truly stink!
does anybody else notice that he looks a lot like Joe Strummer?, especially when he was younger like in the live show of rock this town that vh1 classic plays from time to time.
@TheJaybrone shows ya how much BS the us music industry is,,, we like crooks and killers here no talent garbage! Brian has more talent than anyone here Oh wait the new justin beiber cd is being delivered gotta answer the ups guy! HA
i can understand why an artist would ask for a guitar made already broken in, but if im gonna spend a lot on one it better be as brand new as possible! lol
The 2 hardest shows I ever saw were Nirvana in 91 and the Stray cats in Asbury Park NJ in 93' -96' something like that. I did not think that they rocked that hard, but they did not stop,, they wore us out. I'll never forget that show
oh and if you want a Setzer signature Gretsch.. theyre selling at around $4,000, a TRIBUTE Setzer 6120 ( only 59 made by the custom shop ) will start around $22,000.
Go for the Fulltone Tape echo..its cheaper then trying to buy a very expensive , very wanted Roland....The TTE is fantastic and cant really be duplicated with a pedal.. no.. the tape doesnt break.. its not really under any stress, but it does wear out over time like normal metal tape does.. but there are replacement tapes cheap.. you can even find replacements for the Roland's and echo plex's...The Fulltone TTE is about $1000. I play mine all the time.
With these Gretsch guitars , alot of tube amps can make them sound too tight with mud on the bottom end . Thats what i found after going through alot of current Fender amps . But when you plug it into a 63 Bassman it's like magic . Got the Roland/Boss reissue tape echo pedal but one day gotta get the real Roland tape echo with all that VCR looking tape running through those heads . Bet that breaks down alot ?
Great video , Setz is a guitar master with the tone to boot ! The Gretsch signature Nashville is a great guitar . Signature models like this and Claptons cost alot but are worth it , in the long run ,cause you don't have to do much work with the guitar , the tone is there . I have a studio Gibson Les Paul and it was good but a pickup change made it great !
Why didn't you post the other chapters of this DVD where Brian shows his guitar cabinet, his garage and his beautiful Palm Springs property and introduces his whole family?
Love you Brian Setzer! You're a classy-bad-ass rocker & will always be one of my favs!

what does that "mud switch" do
sichadeb 1 year ago
@sichadeb its pretty much a 3 position tone switch.
alot of Gretsch guitars have 3 volume controls (one of each pickup and a master) a pickup switch and a tone switch.
MitchPTV 1 year ago
ahh
sichadeb 1 year ago
It lets you chouse what capacitor is in the tone circuit, difrent values of capacitor changes what frequences are attenuated.
