  • hello, i am about 6"3, 160lbs, only bikes i have taken off road are Honda CUB70 and MT50 and as you can imagine i have little to no experience off-roading however i would like to start to do it. Would this bike be a good choice for me? Also, i know being a 2 stroke means its not going to be very efficient, but what sort of range do you get from a tank of fuel?

  • Awesome find! You totally lucked out. I still think the KDX line should be around. Great 2-stroke all-around enduro bikes. Enjoy!

  • awesome vid

  • I am 5'11 and 170 pounds and i was wondering if i could take handle the bike? How powerful is the power band? thanks

  • @BackyardAirsoftPros The curb weight on a KDX 200 is 253. If you check out more websites, you will find more information on your question. I would suggest to check out mbike. com . i hope this is helpful to you!

  • u cant weels it u suck fag

  • @shanehurlbert And you can't spell haha. Why insult someones riding ability, if you can't even form a proper sentence....

  • my xr600 takes craps bigger than kdx200's

  • i live in portland OR. and ive been looking on craigslist for a kdx 200 that is newer that the year 2000 and i cant find any with in my price range of $1900 any suggestions?

  • If this is your first bike you'll get hurt

  • How does this bike hold up on dirt roads and just riding a little jumps?

  • @BuffaloBillCody987 The KDX will cope with that easily! Its a great little bike with loads of power and really good suspension when set up right!

  • iv never rode a dirt bike be4. would this be a good starter. im turning 16yo and am 5ft 9 weighing 142lbs

  • @spunkflunk I am 16 and have a 2004 kdx200. If this is your first bike you will probably hurt yourself. The guy I bought it from got his leg caught inbetween the rear wheel and the shock guard, nearly took his foot off.

  • @spunkflunk It would be a bad decision to start off riding a 200 of any sort. its way to much power for never riding. check out a klx 140 or somthing.

  • @spunkflunk Wow, youre a biggen, lol! It would be a good bike to learn on as long as you dont twist the throttle too much, cause they have heaps of power!

  • hahaha smoka!!!! thats comedy

  • i love this bike

  • where abouts is this us or uk

  • are the kdx 200's a big bike im only 5'5 would i fit on this bike?? and are they heavy

  • @gujada9776 I'm 5'10" 170lbs and I bought mine off a buddy thats a few inches shorter than I am, so he had the height adjusted to suit him and he loved it. So as long as you have it adjusted to your specific height, no doubt youll love this bike. They weigh about 220lbs.

  • LUCKY! bike looks great!! im stuck w/ an old xr100 im about to drop a lifan into due to small budget (college), but what is that bike w/ the big tires? i think it was red- 1:04

  • @berett315 i think it might be a honda fat cat but im not 100% sure.

  • kawasaki FOR EVER!!! verry nice movie

  • them KDX200s' only make like 27hp. i never really found them to be that great

  • the kdx 200 is the best trail bike ever

  • MICHIGAN TRAILS :) where do you ride I live in Michigan. I could tell from the sign in the beginning.

  • cool bike but looks waaaaaaaaay higher than my friends 89

  • Me and my bro had a 95 kdx 200 bored to 275 and he broke the crank in the motor so were in the process of rebuilding it. Now I have a 125 Suzuki RM with a pro kit thats needs a barren replaced in the motor.

  • Just a tip, lean down the oil fuel ratio so it dont smoke like a chimany. i mix bout, 32:1. 32 mls of oil to 1 L of fuel. also i rode like that when i was 5yo.

  • 1:32, need an FMF

  • @SpaceAceTX Yeah me and my bro have an FMF pipe on our 95 200 KDX thats currently getting rebuilt.

  • my 1996 wr 250 2-stroke would eat that bike 4 breakfast lunch and dinner

  • i have a 2006 KDX 200 i love it .

  • i only have one thing to say sweet bike but you still have the kickstand on thats a deffinite no no

  • i got the 220r and i make 5`8 ,180 lbs and its to fun . AND you never got enough juice ; )

  • beautiful one :D

  • Michigan trails are great!

  • i can play the song playing and nice bike

  • @GitarreFuhrer idk man, power chords are really hard to play

  • Very cool video. Imagine my surprise when I saw the Tin Cup sign. I'm a Michgander too, WEST SIDE BOOOOIIIIIII!!! LOLMay end up seeing ya out there this summer. I'll be the one that looks out of place on a KTM 300,...the slow guy!! LOL

  • kawasaki and 2 strokes for life !

  • Enjoyed the video.

    I'm considering a KDX200 - I'm a big guy - 6' 240lbs - think that 200 will be enough juice?

  • if you are a beginner to intermediate, the bike will serve you well especially if you plan on tight dense woods trails.

    otherwise, i would suggest a 300 2-stroke, or a 450 4-stroke.

    bitter

  • @ScoutDadGA its a great bike. im 6' 3" 230 lbs and it is perfect. its an 06. haha and im only 15

  • who the heck covered the song? that is not blink-182. nice video by the way. im a kawi rider myself :)

  • smokey the bear sais "kids, ride a two stroke cus they are smmmmokey"

  • if you hear that knocking, your bearings are probably worn,

  • what the name of the litte bottle from the rear shockss...what the use of that?

  • @asadapa08 thats an oil resevoir (i think thats how its spelled) its just for holding oil for the shocks.

  • Hey im new to the KDX and I have a 2005 KDX 200. In your video at 1:40 were it idles and sounds like it is knocking or tapping is that normal? Mine does the same and I just went through the top end and it sounded the same before I did the work. Bike runs great and sounds good but why does it sound like that? Any help. Thanks

  • Hi mate yes they all make that sound just before they blow the piston and big ends. No sorry just joking it's the KIP valve no worries.Just ride and enjoy .

  • All Kawasaki dirt bikes sound like that. Don't worry about that sound. I'm sure it will give you many many troublefree miles of fun.. Years ago I also owned a Suzuki 400cc 2-stroke "purchased new" that had a little knocking sound but it never had a problem either.

  • just a normal two stroke dude. they all rattle when they idle lowly

  • is his bike good for small jumps like 5-6 feet in the air

  • just no why ask daft questions like tht honeslty ur weird

  • i dont know my kdx is turn in to fmx for jumping but i do it anyway

  • Great video! I too seem to be around your age and my favorite bike is the KDX. I am looking to get my first bike, this will be the one. Nothing beats riding in the fall.

  • im 14 and im getting a kdx soon. ive got a crf230 atm .

  • Haha I Have A Kdx 200 Too And Im 14 ! But I Woudnt COnsider IT man. Stay With The 230. Its Way Better. :)

  • sweet im 14 and just got rid of my 230. it was way too heavy. traded it for KTM 125 sx. GREAT DEAL/

  • hey bitterangst i have a kdx220r and i was wondering if there is suppose to be a tube connected on the left side of the bike under the carburetor like under the air filter and on the back of where u put the oil??? its kind of hard to see and explain but if u can reply that would be great. thankx

  • kdx 200 is a great bike, i have one. i can fly through the woods with it. but when i got on my step dads friends KTM 250 2 stroke i was doubling my speed through the woods. kdx is good for new 2 stroke riders i think, but theres a certain point where you have step it up to a 250. nice bike tho great shape :)

  • i love kdx's i have a kdx 250 enduro 1991 model it fucking fly's i sometimes have trouble starting it when it's cold but i figured out how to start second or third kick now.

  • nice kdx i love the look of them but would they be ok with a 240lb fully kitted with gear rider

  • YES. for open or desert riding, you may want a 450.

the KDX is a great tight woods bike and will haul you around just fine.

    bitter

  • Would this kind of bike fit good for me if i'm 6'5''?

  • YES!!! seat height for all serious trail bikes is from about 37 inches to 39 inches!!! even the 4 stroke 450's have this type of seat height. most trail riding requires you to stand or be off your seat for the technical stuff. also these bikes range in the 200-250 pound range.

you will have to adjust the suspension/springs to your weight and style of riding. other than that, these trail bikes will fit you like a glove.

just make sure you pick a bike that fits your riding needs.

    bitter

  • Likely you should be on something bigger. The 200 will have a tough time hauling around someone your size in any really hilly terrain unless you are only about 180lbs. You might look at a KTM 300. The KDX 250's were never as good as the 200/220's later on.

  • i think for tight woods riding the KDX 200 is right on. for open desert riding and big hills. you cant go wrong with a 4 stroke 450, or the beloved KTM 2 stroke 300 BEAST. so, ya, i would agree. make sure you get the bike that fits your riding niche. if you ride both tight woods and open desert/hills, error on the big side.

    bitter

  • lol bitter angst productions /slitwrists

cool little video I am way smaller than you and am getting a 220 today (hopefully) hopefully its as fun as that looks.

  • FUN???

you will have FUN. this bike is perfect for tight trails. you will not be disappointed.

    bitter

  • The first bike I ever rode was an 89 KDX200 with an FMF fatty pipe. It was a serious champ. Good all-around bike for starters and it also carried me for a very long time.

  • yea i guess i get your drift.

  • whats the seat height of a kdx

  • just a smidge under 37 inches.

    bitter

  • also looks like you might wanna rejet. but to be honest i dont care if my smoker smokes, lol. all my buddies get mad at me when i passem though lol

  • with the set-up i have, fredette (kdx guru) does not recommend a re-jet. needless to say, i need to go 3-up on the rear sprocket to improve my 2nd gear. other than that, i dont for-see too many mods in the future. i am thinking about a steering dampener next season.

i like the smoke too. plugs are not fouling, and she is very responsive and performs well on the trail.

    bitter

  • rememeber when i said i was gonna sell my 94 kx 250 for a kdx?

i sold it for 1500 cash, bought a 04 kx 250 for 1500. took it to the track, broke my collar bone, and now im sellin the 04 for a 2006 kdx 200 possibly tomorrow! its got kx forks and a 3.9 tank!

  • that tank makes it look way badass! im sellin my 94 kx 250 and getting a kdx hopefully. i feel like im gonna get on it and fall in love

  • thre too slow for me, thats why i got a kx250f =]

  • ya, some guys that have the skill can ride a MX bike in the trails. i can not keep a MX bike in the powerband in the tight twisty stuff.

    bitter

  • not about speed.

im trading my kx 250 for a kdx. the kdx well be my enduro bike. its not about power in the woods! i smoked my buddy on his 250f and i was on his bros 85!

  • well it is definitely not about top end speed in the tight deep woods. it is about torque. its about smooth/predictable low and mid range hits of useable power. the KDX delivers this.

if you are a trail rider, then get a trail bike. thats all the KDX is. if you have the skill set to ride a track bike in the trails, that is OK too.

the KDX is easy and forgiving in the trails. i know, i have logged several hundred miles in the trails for the last 2 seasons. its all the bike i need.

    bitter

  • a little know secret that KDX in japanese means

2 stroke that wants to be a 4 stroke

  • a crf250r is faster than a kdx in a drag, but the kdx has a real quick start!!

  • indeed it is. different types of bikes. i would think that a CRF250X is comparable to a KDX 200 though.

    bitter

  • those are sweet bikes they handle the trails so well. good video

  • good song,

    and nice bike.

i might get the crf 230f

  • Just bought a used one today has carb problem but runs.Really like it rode for a hour and fixing to go back

  • i ride a kx250f =]

  • Very nice bike. I'm seriously thinking about selling my KX 125 (it's a really nice bike) and picking up a KDX 200. I also have a CRF 250R. I want to keep the 4 stoke and 2 stoke combo but I need something better on the hills than the KX. I think a KDX would be perfect and it's stature is somewhat comparable to the TTR 250 I recently sold ,but it would be a lot quicker and lighter than the TTR was.

  • Love the vid.... thanks a bunch

  • Sweet bike!

  • tip for video's. Don't fast forward your footage.

  • tip for douche bags...ya, thats right...dont be one!!!

  • is that bike any good, say compared to a ktm exc 250 or rmx 250?

  • ya, the bike is good. KTM is a notch above the KDX, i am not sure about a RM though. i thought a RM was a MX bike.

  • its a great bike i have a 1990 kdx 200 the only year they made the white ones. my favorite bike

  • is the bike fast like say you put it up against a cr 125 or 250?

  • bone stock it will run with a 125, but is forced into the 250 class per AMA rules. It has more torque than 125. The 125 is a lil quicker in a drag race( but not off the line). My tip is put an FMF gnarly pipe w/ FMF silencer huge power gains.

  • i put a torque/woods pipe on her in the form of a platinum 2 pro circuit. i kept the stock silencer since i dont like her too loud. plenty of torque in the low range. mid range is a hoot. the bike makes me feel like superman in the trails. so light, so forgiving.

  • Nice video bitterangst,

really enjoyed it :P are the kdx 200 as powerful as a 250? Because im looking for a new bike and i if its as powerful at a 250 then im not going to consider it. But if not, maybe. Because im 14 yrs old. And 5'4.

    cheers.

  • KDX is a perfect bike! Not as powerfull as a 250 more compareable to a 125 MX bike. LOTS OF FUN!

  • ya, 125 MX has about 30+ HP. my KDX has about that, but is tuned for the low and mid range. trail bikes are different than MX. 125 MX is wound tight. KDX is mellow in comparison.

  • Does any one know where to get a front number plate for an '03 kdx200? Mines broken and I want a new one. UFO makes one, but its not like the stock one, so if anyone knows where to get one please tell me.

    Thanks

  • I have a KDX220 and I like it.

  • hey i got a kdx 220 cuz i never new when i bought mine there was a 200 but neeless to say it is the best bike i have ever had firts kick all the time even if i left it all winter with out fireing up keep riding kawasaki

  • KDX's? Weak? your retarded. Most KDX's could put 250's to shame.

  • can it compare to a suzuki rmx or ktm exc?

  • i think the KDX is an outstanding trail bike. i have never ridden a EXC or a RMX, but i think those bikes are higher performance out of the box. for me, probably too high strung for the tight single track.

  • KDXs are weak, and that pipe at 1:45 SUCKSSS.

  • pipe is now platinum pro series 2. needless to say, you are a douche bag cuz KDX's ROCK. are you compensating for a small penis???

  • kdx's suck? are you high? have you even driven one? they are a crazy bike. maybe you're just pissed off because you're weak and couldn't control the bike?

  • HI im 15 and i have a kdx 200. I love it

  • Did you have service manual for 1997-2005 Kawasaki KDX220R?

  • ya, i have the manual

  • I've owned a KDX 200 new, back in the day. They are great for trail riding as long if you never jumped it. The forks were rubish.

  • ya i know, thats why the new one im getting has full factory connections suspention

  • i just beefed up the front fork springs from fredette. i dont jump but the springs really do help for my weight.

  • Ah i love that bike i have a '06 KDX to she's beauty too. Take it from me , once u get that fmf powercore 2 silencer and the fmf gnarly pipe on her, remove the airlid under the seat , and put a racing sparkplug and race airfilter, and do the jetting , its a DIFFIRENT green monster!!! later maybe get an o-ring chain too coz she'll have way more grunt. Keep riding man ! Wonderfull vid !!

  • thts awsome i have a KDX 200 too...mines a 2003...its pretty nice...

  • Thankyou, this has convinced me to part with my hard earned money this weekend and join the fun.... Nice vid.....

  • there are so many good bikes to choose from. this was a no brainer...3K brand new!!! me like...me like alot.

  • Get a power pipe like an fmf kit and it will wake it up ALOT!!

  • ya, one of my buds is a "KDX" specialist. he is going to hook me up with jetting, expansion chamber, and opening up the air-box. this bike has got some zip fo sho!!!

  • i have the same bike amazing.

  • are any of these type of bikes road legal? Was thinking about getting one while abroad!

  • ya, in michigan it is easy to legalize it. DOT tires, Baja kit, and you are good to go.

  • im 13 and getting a kdx 200 are they good rtail bikes and do you think they could beat my dads kx250 haha

  • KDX 200 is a formidable trail bike. in the tight trails it will do damage to any KX bike with comparable riders. remember, low and mid range power band with a wide ratio is KEY in tight trails. KX is for the track.

  • i thought Kawasaki stopped making 2strokes

  • same

  • he said his kdx was a 2005 model

  • yo guys i have the fmf gnarly and fmf powercore 2 exhaust system. it gives the bike alot of attitude and i love this bike. best bike out there.

  • thx i got the bike and love it wheelies on this bike rule

  • welcome my brother, welcome to KDX FEVER!!!

  • im 13 and getting this bike and wondering if u had any suggestions

  • my bike is all stock. bark busters are a must if you ride in tight trails. i would ride it stock and make changes as needed...(ie. jetting, open up air box, exhaust mods.) the front suspension is a little soft if you weigh over 120 pounds. i dont ride hard so the stock bike is good enough for me right now. i do plan to put a baja kit on the bike though.

    bitter

  • try leaning your oil mixture out a bit its smoking a bit much

  • ya, the rich mixture was for break-in (as per recs from the dealer.)

  • wtf you almost lost it at 1:00 lol

  • ya, that was almost a biff. big al had a nice save. going up the hill in about 6-12 inches of sand is a little tough. but he gave it throttle, regained his balance, and kept his man card.

  • ya know smoka aint the best thing, but nice bike its wat i actually wanted and i ended up with a honda crf150r... still even now i want that kdx200 :P

  • me love smoke. i have KTM 300 on the mind since it is the only company that makes current enduro 2-strokes. i may still just get the CRF 450X or KLX 450R in the future. but it is time to run the KDX for at least a season or 2.

    bitter

  • im 5'4 could i fit

  • YES!!!

  • yeah you could im 5'5 its a challenge but you can do it. try adjusting the suspension to its softest setting so that your weight can lover the bike wen u hope on it

  • Hit me once more with that awesome brand spankin' new throttle response. I love that when you rap it. My KDX will easily pull the front wheel at speed with just rolling on the throttle.

  • XR6598 (ie BIG AL)...um, ya, your KDX is a little green bitch.

    this bike hauls ass.

twist the throttle, i grin. front wheel comes up effortlessly.

the sense of power and acceleration are there, fo real, fo sho...DAWG.

RAP IT!!! there is NO HESITATION!!! NONE, I SAY!!!. it kind of makes me crave more...(KTM 300...the last of the 2-stroke MONSTERS.)

    bitter

  • Does the KDX have enough power to break the rear wheel loose when it hits the powerband? Hows the gas mileage like on trails?

  • i dont know if i can break the tire loose in the powerband. the trails i ride are just so tight, and i dont crank on the throttle. what i do know is that she pulls just fine in the DEEP sand...just twist the throttle, and i am on plane. riding in the sand is effortless.

About 20-25 miles/gallon on the trails. she sucks fuel.

    bitter

  • Does the KDX have decent top-end power? Will it pull wheelies without using the clutch?

  • i would say NO. the bike has great mid-end. the bike has good low-end. the top-end is fair.

the bike wheelies with no clutch. throttle response is crisp. even though she will wheelie with no clutch, the response is predictable and forgiving.

she is perfect for the tight trails. in the right hands and with the appropriate mods, she can be a high performance machine.

for the average joe...just a great enduro.

    bitter

  • Nice bike! I myself have always been a Yamaha Kinda-Guy, but a few days ago I bought a 1989 KDX200. Now im a Kawasaki Kinda-Guy. lol

    Good luck and safe riding!

  • hell, i am a honda, yamaha, and kawasaki man. i own all three. even suzuki makes great bikes.

  • Lovely bike! I was forced to get myself a Suzuki RMX250. Not quite the same bike. A lot more aggressive, but who the hell gives a damn with the stock market rubbish.

  • Dude! That is vintage!

  • I was glad to see that there was no hills for you to climb in this video!!!!

  • its on, i repeat its on. operation grand slam has been re-activated. please acknowledge, i repeat, please acknowledge. the nissan is fixed.

    bitter
