  • I have a ? for you was this the f3 wedge that ripped apart east chicago that same yr? I know that this waas a long time ago but I just want to find some one who like me saw that tornado I was on 80/ 90 four heading home to gary when i saw it and have been looking for some one who had a video or even just willing to talk about that massave storm thank you and again i am sorry this took for ever to post.

  • Lansing? In Illinois? I thought Lansing was in Michigan? Sorry I am only 10 i am on my sisters account

  • Section 8 already destroyed all those nice suburbs in the South Burbs so Tornado no big deal but great video:)

  • Nice effort; great audio; good dialogue

  • HEY is tht place near old country buffet and target?

  • wow that would of been a big one

  • shit dude i remember this i live not to far from where you are like 2 mins

  • where wuz it cuz i live close to oak glen... when this hit i wuz in a mcdonalds :D i always go to one when there is a tornado :)

  • Tornado is for me the strongest of the wolde

  • it happend in front of my grandma's house

  • it sucked a lot of things

  • the second shot, he was Glenwood-Lansing road, across the street fron Bethel (i think) and behind him was Lansing Municipal airport. The reason I comment on this is because I took an Intro flight at the airport.

  • Good of the approaching ragged clouds. I'm more of a fan of the pre-tornadic conditions (darkening clouds; hail; stacato lightning strikes) than I am of simply watching an already -developed tornado. It's better when both can be seen. Nice job

  • pretty cool man, youll get a tornado sooner or later but you might have to DRIVE for it.

  • is that torrance ave? this funnel cloud was right over my school (illiana)

  • "Its sucking stuff towards it"

lol, had to laugh at that

  • nice vid

  • hello my friend this was one of the scariest times in NW indiana. i dont live far from lansing

  • Sure was, as soon as it crossed into Indiana it seemed to die down. When it was in Illinois though that thing was ready to drop.

  • i would love to do something like this but to bad i would crap my pants

  • I live down the street from College on Henry St.

  • Was that by the airport?

  • Yes, some of it was adjacent to the airport

  • You did better than me. All I received on my first chase was blinding rain, quarter-sized hail, and tons of mosquitoes. Went over 2,000 total on that trip. Missed the tornadoes by 100 miles (7/11/05 - Wilmar, MN. I was in Longville, MN). Fun trip nonetheless.

I'm planning a second chase in May. Looking for a partner. Just need finances.

  • I got lucky with this one, I was actually driving to my parents house that was missed by a tornado by maybe 200 yards. I would love to go, but no can do, hard when you have a wife and 4 kids. Sorry

  • No problem. I'm just asking around for people to come with me.

I'm running into problems for my May chase.

  • i was in school when this happended and everyone was freaking out everyone was just like todays the day cause our local forcast was just like today Rain hail and a possable tornado in your area and i just statred freaking out !! lol

  • its funny cuase when u said the wind is goiwing inot sounds like war of the worlds hehehe :(...

  • i here the sirens on volmer road lol

  • oh gee I think I saw clouds as dark as those! I'm not a storm chaser yet I'm too young but righ now I'm studying by watching others.

  • I saw that tornado! I was outside of my house watching it! That shit was awesome!!

  • i live real close to lansing soo i saw the tornado .

  • freaky this was over my house and i was not home

  • My last comment was a reply to dogstar7.

  • This was incredible footage! I grew up right by the Lansing airport, my parents were in the garage watching as the storms were approaching (still live in the same house I grew up in)...I was cowering in my basement in Highland, since the Weather Channel had me freaked out!

  • i cant believe how my house was untouched by the tornado. i live by where u are filming.

  • hey can i get ur chirp number?

  • I don't even know who you are

  • Even though the camera NEVER does justice to a storm like this, you still managed to capture the menacing look and impressive structure.

    Happy hunting and stay safe.

  • OMG, you took the words right out of my mouth. We must be related or something(lol j/k) I did say those exact words, the camera does this storm no justice what so ever. Thanks for the comment and btw this will not be my last. Especially with the first being so invigorating!

  • If you're going to be a regular storm chaser I would advise you to get some storm spotter training as a matter of personal safety. You will also then be able to call in severe weather events when you see them and be of public service at the same time.

  • dude the one that hit the ground was ACROSS THE STREET from my best friend! HE WAS SCARED OUT OF HIS MIND!!! XD I am a big sissy so i was too lol

  • Okay well, at 1:00, I do see whats called a mesocyclone, and then at 1:40 you can surely tell there is pretty impressive rotation, oh and, he never said he saw a tornado on the ground, just to clarify that. HAPPY CHASING!

  • cant believe this happen soon as In moved from lansing.

  • I never said there was a tornado on the ground did I? Hate to burst your bubble

  • hate to burst yours ass..yeah it was.,.were you here???

  • I have a video of it actually touching down wgn news wanted it but naver came by to get it.

  • Hey, i used to live around that area.. more like rte 30 and glendwood dyer road.. in alpin villge.... wow you got some good footage..!!!! be careful next time ..

  • the scond portion is along the airport on glenwood-lansing right? Because I live just right down the road, took some amazing photos!!!!!! Thanks

  • NICE JOB! I MISSED IT ALL..DAMN

  • How???? Man it was on of the best feelings ever. I think it was more of a rush than a fully involved house fire. Words really can't describe it. I will be doing this more often

  • been working nites! hate traffic during the day

  • DOH!

  • Wow, I grew up in Lansing. That was wicked.

  • dang i live about 10 mins away from there too :O

  • Oh gosh! i would be terrified to be there! LOL

  • the tornado actually didn't hit the ground!!

  • Ah, but it did. This is the same system that tore through Richton Park and Monee. I did not get the tornado on the ground this is true, but I never chased before. Sorry to waste your time

  • I live in lansing, We got lucky!!!!!

  • And yes you guys did get lucky. The second potion of the video is along the airport.

  • I knew you would be underneath it somewhere...nice!

  • Nice job.

    Classic cyclone and wall cloud.

At 01:17 we can see smaller tendrils of micro-burst activity.

Dark clouds are actually great masses of water suspended in the shearing effect of the tremendous updraft.

  • Well............ you got the wall cloud bit right.

  • WOW nice filming
