  • Yes folks back then that song helped instill a little national pride in young and old alike on the end of the broadcasting day . Couldn't have that now the A.C.L.U wouldn't stand for it and it may offend all our illegal citizens.

  • On another subject, does anyone have the KTVU sign on circa 1980? If I remember correctly, it was a montage of pics being shown during Gaye's What's Going On. It wast actually pretty thought provoking and fit in nicely with the station's socially-minded programming,

    Someone must have it :)

  • Yes boys and girls, back in my day stations really DID go off the air. We didnt have spray on hair informercials. And since video tape players cost as much as personal computers do now, we either went to bed or to a disco.

Still doubt me? Watch Poltergeist. Would Spielberg lie?

  • holy whoa!!!

  • it was a beautiful innocence to all of this that was swallowed by the robot digital 01 01... I don't know maybe because it was all about magnetism and we are magnetic NOT binary,,,

  • I Really Miss The Old Channel 2.

    Were Did It Go?

  • after Barney Miller and Benny Hill....good nite.

  • With all the infomercials and reality crap on TV, I think it's time to bring back the Television Code.

  • @jpx08 Amen to that!

  • I wish that Good Night scene was a wallpaper, looks sweet..!

  • instead of this, they play infomercials now

  • I was only 3 years old and didn't know what was going on. But wow!!! talk about nostalgia.

  • "Miami Broadcasting" How many years was this before Cox TV own KTVU?

  • @recto89 Miami Valley Broadcasting was a TV subsidiary of Cox Enterprises. They had owned KTVU since '64.

  • what is it about all these things we love to go here on youtube to search out and watch again? I guess we really miss how things used to be after all and those who weren't born yet are also loving watching all this too. Is it because the new things are just too glossy and polished for everyone's tastes or is there a pure appeal to pre-computerised graphics which I was lucky enough to have seen evolve in my 30 yrs of life yet still dig this.

  • Watched this many a night when I had to stay up late to study for an exam.

  • I miss the old KTVU days...

  • I miss Ron Boltz of KTLA doing the VO work for KTVU
