@del0griffith lol we never stop, not at stop signs and not at red lights: most people pull over and cross traffic stops before they can actually see us, and the be blast through red lights and intersection with hardly slowing down, and still driving safe: Except from some scratches as we parked one of our trucks on scene, we didn't had an accident for at least 5 years
@rex09able Its better to be parked on solid ground such as a road, parking lot, or in this case the driveway. If they tried parking in the grass, it could be to soft for the heavy truck, or while they are parked there pumping, the water could soften up the ground and then you have another problem to deal with. We had this happen to us when we were doing a training burn and it wouldnt have been a good thing had it happened during an actual emergency.
@Jakdc21 it could very possibly be a non hydranted area. in that case many Departments SOP's mandate the line be dropped at the end of the driveway for a tanker to hook into.
@Jakdc21 They dropped LDH at the end of the driveway so the second engine could park there, set up a fold-a-tank, then pump water from that up to the primary engine. That way its easier for the tenders shuttling water.
all of the engines in my county have limiters that only let the truck max out at 70 mph...any faster, and you can't control the engine in evasive maneuvers.
It gives them that much of a safer path to get through, big heavy vehicle at high speeds, who really wants to be close to that. Nice to see all the respect for emergency vehicles.
Anyone who has been waiting when seconds literally matter will gladly sacrifice a few seconds and give them all the space they need to respond safely. Thanks to all who do. Thanks to the men and women who respond to our calls for help.
@hermadur Not sure where you live but it is state law in most if not all states that you must pull to the right and stop for emergency vehicles not matter what side of the road you are on. Providing a clear path. Pulling over and stopping for oncoming emergency vehicles does not apply to divided roads/highways.
Just being the Chief that I am, but I heard ICS being established attack and so forth; but I did not hear anything about accountability or prime search. Just wondering? Keep pushing forward!
I would have led off with a 2 1/2 line being that yous were the first engine in with fire showing, but im sure you guys got it done just fine.. Nice Vid! 5*
As the truck stops for a moment at the driveway entrance, focus on the building at the end of the driveway on the left side. Smoke from top floor, flames visible as they approach.
Wow people actually pull over there! I have always wondered what happens if a fire truck gets to a railroad crossing and a train is going like 5MPH over it and they need to get to an emergency what do they do? Can anyone answer me that would be great! Nice vids man!
There are quite a few videos on youtube of that very thing happening and the fire apparatus usually shuts down their siren and waits for the train to pass, they then (depending on the department) notify dispatch that they are delayed by train and will automatically tone another unit in a different location to begin responding. That is what we do in our county. Dispatch has it set up that if the engine gets delayed, they dispatch engine 304 which is on a different side of the tracks and county
@stlouissux9119 If our first engine is stopped, then it just has to wait, but as soon as we know about it, we would radio to the other trucks responding and they would take a different route depending on the location of the call. This is something that has only happened once that i know about.
Not stopping at the stop signs? Good way to smash up your fire truck....

When giving an order to do a forward lay ( lay in ) give it to one person directly, not an option as to who the one will be.

That is just one way out of the station, so if train present, the route changes slightly.

I'm guessing based on where the Engine parked, there was no way to turn the camera on scene?
