  • I'm in 2 bands, a dubstep project and friends in bands and i found this funny. XD

  • Has anyone ever turned up for a gig some many miles away from home, and the venue had no idea that A: you were coming, and B: there were any bands on that night at all?

A stressful evening, but we played on regardless.

  • the most my band has ever gotten payed at a big venue was 30 dollars haha

we played with blind witness, Dr. Acula, and Attila

  • truth!

  • I couldn't laugh at this. It all fucking true and that saddens me. We don't need them, they need us. Fucking promoters charge bands for tickets, and then make the band sell said tickets. And then the promoter gets the fucking money!!! They should do their fucking jobs and PROMOTE!!! I'm in Arizona. If anyone knows a state or country where this isn't the norm, fucking tell me, I'll move there tomorrow, lol!

  • Haha Im playing a gig where i have to sell 15 dollar tickets and i dont get to know the time i pay till we figure out how many tickets weve sold. im not gettin paid and i dont even get to play the big venue unless we sell 50 tickets

  • @crazyape515 Pay to play is bullshit. It's usually a sign of a bad promoter.

  • 8 people are promoters.

  • I've been apart of it. Almost every single fucking thing. I swear when I get mugged I will have gone through everything in this video. This isn't a comedy sketch. It's a goddamn documentary.

  • They got free drinks?!

    Dream gig.

  • This is SOOOOOO true ha ha perfect!

  • Awesome! I'm actually in pain from laughing so much!

  • hahahahahahaha!!!!

  • AMEN!

  • THIS is what being in a band is like. You won't get laid and you won't get wasted. You'll travel miles to play at a pub and you might get petrol money. Then if you're lucky, you'll have an uncomfortable night's sleep on some dude's floor and go home (that's if you didn't just drive straight back home anyway). THAT is rock and roll.

  • @Szaam Petrol money's a dream!

  • @Szaam I toured last summer,& you describe it decently well. Slept in the van. Sometimes got a house from a booker of a show,or a fan of the band. I don't think I showered the entire time. But what's funny is,it was easily the funnest month of my life.

  • @Szaam true story, bro. I've played enough shows even before 20 yrs old to know that! xD

  • @Szaam You still get laid. Just not like Motley Crue makes it look.

  • @Szaam whoa speak for yourself on getting laid and wasted

  • oh man, so so so accurate! hahaha

  • sounds about right.

this guy has obviously gone through the joy of trying to become a successful musician

  • warm carlsbad! haha. finally an honest promoter

  • Thats well funny, lmfao! That would hit a nerve with a few promoters out there lol

  • I'm stupid to really understand all of this...

    >_<

  • I know that guy - I worked for him all through the 70's. He got mugged on his way from a meeting. .... we think.... not sure....

  • lmao soo true with those asshole promoters promising you a good time slot/ crowed. also about saying there will be the same genre and then actually being all diff types of music. and not doing any promotion at all. haha this is great and so true!

  • Fucking spot on!

  • God it's so true. Anyone ever met a promoter that actually promoted a gig?

  • This reminds me of the Varsity in Wolverhampton, SO much! -.-

  • HELP!

Singers and rappers need for the tracks I write and produce..

    Check out my channel :o)

  • so true

  • Sounds like On Fire Booking

  • THIS IS SOOOOOOOOO SOOOOOOOOO TRUE hahahahahah

  • Too true. I remember playing a gig years ago where my band were supposed to be the opening act supporting Mendeed in Glasgow. We were told we'd have a 25 minute set and that we didn't need to bring any equipment. As soon as we arrived, the promoter asked us where our equipment was. He then moved us upstairs to play and cut our set to 15 minutes. We managed 4 songs, all played twice as fast. To be fair though, the promoter gave us a gig a few months later which went a lot better.

  • LOL priceless. We all know this is not even a parody, it's just really happens out there lol

  • HA! ;) And double-ha. Not to say that there aren't a few lovely promoters out there... emphasis on the FEW. But those few know who they are. I love you.

  • HA! ;) And double-ha. Not to say that there aren't a few lovely promoters out there... emphasis on the FEW. But those few know who they are. I love you.

  • HA! ;) And double-ha. Not to say that there aren't a few lovely promoters out there... emphasis on the FEW. But those few know who they are. I love you.

  • This sure sums it up. Our non musician friends think we can't get a gig because we never do anything but parties. We are tired of explaining this is why and that we refuse to do P2P BS

  • ACCURATE

  • Ha ha. Sad but true.

  • MLG PRESENTS.

  • 2:25 CARFYU

  • so true...........

  • this isn't funny at all....because it's true :(

  • Ahhh it's too painfully true.

  • "you will be expected to lend them all your gear"... Just as we were leaving the rehearsal space, a guy walked up to me and said "Uh, I didn't bring my guitar, can I use yours?" I told him it was a bass. "I'll just tune it an octave higher, don't worry" W...T...F?

  • Bwahahaha!

  • I was LOLing hard... I remember chatting to this guy at the Bullet Bar a few years ago :-D - you missed having to send a £50 deposit pre-gig though

  • Have yiloubseen the mastering one with the cracked waves plugin set? Gotme bro? Yougotme?

  • Some promoters are just like this. Haven't dealt with them but i sure know theyre out there D:

  • @Shornoo

Just come to Los Angeles and/or Hollywood!

  • YOU MUST BE THICK IF YOU DEAL WITH IDIOTS LIKE THIS, AND WHAT DOES IT SAY ABOUT YOU, HA HA.

  • You only missed one thing "it's for the exposure" and a friend of mine is fond of saying "in Canada, we DIE from exposure!"

  • sensual pounding

  • THINGS HAVE GONE QUIET IN MANCHESTER. BUT 15-20 YRS AGO, WE WERE THE MOST CREATIVE CITY, WHEN IT CAME TO MUSIC. IF YOU ARE MANCUNIAN, YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT OUR SCENE.

  • @leedumett444 Im not mancunian, and I know your scene.

    Its shit.

  • ,MANCHESTER WE HAVE ALL THE TOP GROUPS, STONE ROSES, HAPPY MONDAYS, NEWORDER, THE SMITHS, THESE GROUPS PUT MANCHESTER ON THE MAP, FACT.

  • IN MANCHESTER, WE HAVE THE BEST MUSIC SCENE IN THE WORLD. ITS THE OUTSIDERS THAT DONT UNDERSTAND.

  • @leedumett444 lol are u joking? when was the last time you gigged in manchester, seriously go out there, go to the roadhouse, go to academy, go to the ruby lounge and ask the 'promoter' if they'll pay you....if u can find a guy called vman, please kill him too, ever heard of 'pay to play'? You need a reality check, I've been gigging in manchester for 5 years so I think I know how it works. oh, and I'm from manchester, have lived here all my life.

  • THIS IS NOT REALISTIC, ONLY A RETARD WOULD DEAL WITH A PROMOTER AS BAD AS THIS.

  • NO IN MANCHESTER, THIS IS NOT HOW IT IS. YOU JUST DEAL WITH IDIOTS.

  • this is so fuckin spot on!

  • this is exactly how it is! so so true

  • YOU MUST HAVE DEALT WITH SOME IDIOT PROMOTERS, IF THIS IS HOW IT IS.

  • @leedumett444 in manchester this is how they all are

  • I just pissed myself. This is the London scene to a word!!!

  • so true!

  • This= London scene, about 90% of this has happened to me directly lool

  • fucking amazing. this is exactly why i never use the word "promoter". i "put gigs on".

  • Totally accurate. Made me cry.

  • Comment removed

  • all my gigs are like this. every single one.

  • Sensual pounding rocks!

  • got out of the rock scene because of this EXACT SHIT right here.

  • why use the same voice for both characters?

makes for a terrible presentation, despite the great idea behind it

  • This is exactly how 70% of our gigs went.

  • this is truly hilarious.

  • THIS IS STUPID.

  • wow...so then seriously, how or what should we do, as musicians/bands, if all promoters are assholes like this?

  • Comment removed

  • This video is such BS! Most promoters don't even wear beanies!

  • This could almost be a story about our last London gig. Farce.

  • pretty close to the truth

  • THIS IS SO FUCKING TRUE.

  • Comment removed

  • ..have never laughed so hard... its a shit business...

  • Warm Carling hahaha

  • Oh WOW! This is SO spot on! lol

  • im glad i dont act like that to my bands

  • He forgot to mention there's only supposed to be 3 minutes between bands.

  • ahaha so true. Like all of the things he said happen for almost every gig ive ever played :') best spot is never headlining its always main support (y)

  • yes in deed you rock.

  • Yep! That's "show business". LMFAO

  • Sounds like promoters I had to deal with in the past!

  • Hi Youtube friends,

So my video has hit over 100,000 views. I'd like to say thanks for all the positive comments and thanks to all who shared it with friends. Makes me happy that I bought a smile to a few people's faces.

Guess in a way I'm sad to find that so many people can relate to this video. Obviously a lot of sh*tty promoters out there! But I also agree with the people who've made alternative videos to this, there's equally a lot of idiots playing in bands. Sensual Pounding?

    Chris x

  • @Cheesemonster11

Great video mate right on the money with this haha

  • Wonderful !!! Hahaha

  • On The Button that is.

  • OH MY GOD!!! Who is the genius that made this. So freiking true!

  • I think this needs 'what is VAT? I have never had to pay a band VAT before?' and 'what's this PRS form you show me? I have never seen one of those before.' and don't forget 'buy out? You mean you need to eat? I hadn't planned for this cost.'

Apart from that, I have met this guy a few times before.

  • so true

  • Emergenza, Supernova, any BOTB or any gig where you are playing for the first time for that matter. Promoters are cunts.

  • Bands that don't care whether they get paid or not are Paying To Play. This is 100% true!

Don't pay good money to see a fucking amateur hour with pro sound and posters.

  • Who makes these vids? I LOVE them! Laughed so hard I cried with this one!

  • LOL This sounds like EMERGENZA!

  • The indies dirty little secret. I got beat up on a forum by bands defending this practice when I excoriated it . I couldn't believe it.

Not a chance in hell we will ever do a P2P show. We'd rather not play at all.

  • Brahhaaaaa! Awesome!!

  • I've played a gig for this guy before. Damn you, Sensual Pounding.

  • "Your band kicks MY bands ass in every venue I put you in, therefore I can't book you anymore"

"I'll keep making excuses until you quit calling me for bookings"

"I'll tell all the good clubs that your just okay, and keep the money low to discourage you until you quit calling me" "Your my wifes favorite band, and that really crushes my ego" Bono Saunders -Drummer/agent

  • uh huh

  • Yep..so true

  • Memories..........

  • This is absolutely fuckin' true!

  • THIS HAS HAPPEND TO ME A GRIP

  • AHHHH HA HA HA so completely true!

  • Oh God, it's true! It's ALL TRUE!!!

  • I hate my life... stay in school boys n girls.

  • man, so true it hurts

  • Wow. But leaving at midnight sounds early to me. I usually left around 1:30 or later...

  • @davecipriani cool guy.

  • Was this filmed at LADEDA?

  • "Will you be doing much promotion for the gig?"

"No. Just because I'm a promoter doesn't mean that I have to promote. That is your job."

Sadly, this is almost always the case.

  • Haha. This is so true. I'm an acoustic act but acoustic nights are very similar to this. They want you to be there 3 hours early, miles away, no local crowd and you have to bring 30 people....as an unknown solo act thats pretty impossible! The best part is you sometimes get paid some of the "door money" if you bring enough people, but all this means is that your taking money off your own friends and family!

  • lol!!! Been there sooooo many times!

How much we will get paid?

    Nothing.

  • 90% the truth here. Seriously.

after working with so many promoters, especially in the NYC area, there is nothing i feel the maker of this video missed.

  • haha "my cousins 8 piece samba band with three drummers.. they are caled sensual pounding." thats the best.

this is so classic. glad i dont have to deal with promoters anymore haha.

  • hahaha epic.

  • Hahahahahahahahahahaha

  • this isnt even a joke. 100% true

  • you got that spot on 90% of so called Promoters are just like that

  • epic...

  • ...warm Carling. I've totally been there. Exactly there.

  • LO effing L.

  • this is so true.

  • made me cry and throw up a little bit

  • hahahaha

  • that was funny

  • There's a soundman? The sound gear is already there? They got BEER? Sounds better than what's being offered on the West Coast. I showed up for an unpaid "benefit" at one of the better clubs, to get bitched out by the promoter for not hauling along my own system and soundman. At another one, they didn't even buy us each a beer. Hell, not even a coke. This vid is sooooo true.

  • promoters....LOL......lowest scum

  • Sensual pounding ....HA! Totally epic.

  • I've done his gig before- it's epic.

  • Dude with the goatee has a mangina!

  • Comment removed

  • You'll be setting up your lighting system during the others bands sets. We expect you to rock hard, but don't exceed 92dB on the managers meter or he will cut the power to the stage. Oh yeah, the owners wife wants to sit in and sing Crazy, but only after her liquid courage kicks in.

  • Omg -- I've had this conversation before.....

  • What did you use to make this?

  • EPIC!

  • ah so true.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! SO TRUE!

  • OH - this is so painfully real. I used to work for clubs like this; then I opened my own club designed to actually help musicians instead of exploit them. And, yes, there are similar predators in the music biz, not all promoters are scum - there are a few who really do care and do a good job, for example, Bob Stane at the Coffee Gallery in Altadena, CA.

  • brilliant

  • C'mon, that's bullshit.......I mean, the 1 Carling each sounds too good to be true!

  • Will you be doing any promotion? No.

Every line is so spot on. No room on stage, 2 hour sound checks of just drums, middle of nowhere... funny because it's true.

  • Fucking. Ay. I've haven't experienced a promoter who had all of these bad qualities at once, but this vid is fucking brilliant, very true. And the Microsoft Sam inflection adds a ton of hilarity.

  • so true

  • Oh man! This is exactly how it is. So fucking sad. Promoters are SCUM

  • Ain't it the truth......

  • Comment removed

  • oh man... you gotta do it because you love it!

  • I felt great when I woke this morning, I feel very, very different to that now

  • Why do I recognise this man? Oh, I know why.

That is a badly-disguised Manchester accent.

  • Well done. :)

  • Only traveling musicians have heard all of this....

  • Amazing

  • Brilliant!
