The track used for this video is the original 1993 recording of "Calling to You" from "Fate of Nations", later re-released on "Nine Lives" and "66 to Timbuktu". Pete Thompson was the drummer for most of the tracks on "Fate of Nations". Michael Lee (R.I.P.) and the rest of the cast is miming to the original.
I know the reason why this wasn't massively commericially successful. They were in the throes of grunge, and as far as the record companies were concerned, if you weren't a whiny bitch who can't play or sing for your life, then they're not interested in promoting.
To me this is great music. Now why wasn't this a huge billboard hit?? I just don't get why his solo stuff hasn't been massively commercially successful. Musically and artistically its amazing.
Calling to you was his last powerfull gasp at was once the beast that was Led Zep.I love this song, brings me back to '76.He is and always will be rocks golden god.
Awesome song, oddly enough its the only good track from FATE OF NATIONS. After such a great CD as MANIC NIRVANA this was the beginning of the end of my affair with his career... Great swang song, though.
@trinitario99 His work with The Strange Sensation is fantastic.
His vocals over the last few years are stronger & purer than ever before--even stronger than his days with Zeppelin. He sounds phenomenal these days...
Shortly after seeing Plant tour Fate of Nations, I became aware of Francis Dunnery. Take note of the name, and search him out. You'll see why Plant sought him out for guitar duty. Dunnery already enjoyed a healthy, yet somewhat obscure musical history through the prog-rock band It Bites, as well as solo work.
By the way, this song and video kick butt! Thank you, MusicHead, for posting it!!!
After aquianting myself with Plant's solo albums, I began to recollect a vague memory of seeing this video on MTV when I was only 13. I wasn't even sure if it was Plant. I only had a dim memory of a flaming ball.
Finally, someone put it up. After 16 years my search is finally over...Thank you.

@trinitario99 I like their solo albums, but i agree "fate of nations' lacks the bombastic energy of "manic nirvana."
