@zipacna1980 The exhaust defusers crack a lot and are problematic. It does have an IR jammer on it. It's just behind the main transmission area. It's the "Spunka". And yes, Manpads seem to be everywhere these days.
When I was stationed with the Iraqi Police Acadmey and CPATT at Camp Delta these Hinds were kept a few hundred yards from us. One afternoon I heard them doing multiple fly bys so I went outside with my camera to watch. For about 20 minutes or so I had a private air show as the Polish pilots spotted me by the runway and purposely "posed" for pictures. It was wild having Apaches and Hinds sitting on the tarmac next to each other. It felt good when they were in the air supporting us.
I promise to do so when I find it. Keep posted too, I'll be uploading a lot of my MH-53 Pave Low videos when I have time. I flew them for almost 10 years. Thanks for the comment!!!
Thanks! They put on quite a show for us for about 30 minutes. I'll have to upload one of the take-offs they did where they rolled for about 100 yards on the nose gear.
No, the Iraqis aren't flying them and probably won't anytime soon if ever. (Sorry, I accidentally deleted your last comment!) Keep your eyes peeled for my postings. I did take a ton of pictures during the "performance" if you'd like to see them. Just let me know. While I was there this last time (for a year :o( ) I flew on UH-1H Hueys and Mi-17s with the Iraqis.
Where are their stock exhaust coolers and ir jamming pods? Don't they insurgents have any manpads?
