  • The real reason for this call to the post is that prior to 1997 Keeneland did not have a public address system! It was the last track to do so! What is not shown is that Bucky has a second call when the horses reach the gate!

  • Bucky the Bugler is an icon love that call I always know its Keeneland

  • Buddy the Bugler is an icon love that call I always know its Keeneland

  • The call is: "Boots & Saddles"

  • In fact, that is "Boots & Saddles", not "Call To The Post". Maybe Keeneland does it differently, which to me is like whatever they want to do (they've don't even have real dirt anymore) but most tracks prefer "Call To The Post" to signal the post parade and ten minutes to the start of the race.

  • I'm glad you think so newman1521 but if you look at history, every racetrack across the country since 1885 has used "first call" as the call to the post standard. You say it's unique to the track, it's ignorant. It's not even the correct song and he's not even a bugler, he's a sax player. You should do your research on him. And BTW - if you have seem the movie "Dreamer" which is a horse racing film about the Breeders Cup, the call to the post is dubbed in and played correctly. Worth looking at.

  • We don't care. don't you understand? If you don't like it don't come to our track with has 100,000 people come every weekend during season.

  • Thats exactly the problem, you don't care. I heard his live broadcast of the Lexington Stakes and wow, just plain bad. Oh and also, I'm sure there are not 100,000 people every weekend at the track. The track is too small. Either way, he should retire after 40 something years and let a REAL bugler play there. Racing deserves better than him as a bugler.

  • @ampiet3 exactly as you say............. Keeneland and it's traditions are what we want...those who do not like it are welcome to go elsewhere....

  • Really, he doesn't even play the call correctly. Its not even the right tune, he plays Boots and Saddles. Someone should mention to management that he does it incorrectly. Its really a shame that he gets away with it.

  • Bucky (the bugler) has been playing that for years. Keeneland (the track he plays for) usually does it's own thing, and that tune is "uniquely keeneland" I have heard Bucky play the traditional call to the post at a funeral and it was flawless. If you've never seen live racing at Keeneland I suggest that you do so.

  • So much to say here, to continue - you see Bucky in the movie but the he is covered up by the correct call, obvoiusly not him. Also, Seabiscuit with Jay Cohen's bugle call also correct. And if anyone was ever in doubt, check out the All-Star Buglers, always correct. It pays to do your research once in a while. So it looks like your out-numbered. Please refer to the other videos on youtube to hear it done right.

    Thanks.

  • the greatest sound in all of horse Racing bucky the bugler
