LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!!!! We used to take school buses there for "Valley Day", when Conneaut Valley Elementary took whoever wanted to go and let us loose!! Our prom was there in 1976.
SHE OPENS FOR THE SEASON FRIDAY MAY, 28 2010!!!!!!!!! THUMBS UP AND SPREAD THE WORD, VOLUNTEER AND PATRONIZE THIS LOVELY AND BEAUTIFUL PARK! KEEP CLP FROM ENDING UP LIKE IDORA, BUSHILL, JOYLAND, AND MONARCH! Keep it alive forever
Oh crap, I should really do some spellcheck before click on "post" - that should be Geneva-on-the-Lake - writeroffthelake at Geneva-on-the-Lake (Ohio) - and this time I spelled GOTL right - LOL!
I have some incredible photos I took after the fire this last June if anyone would like to see them. Some of them are pretty sad...everything is falling apart. So sad.
You can get the Park's fries at the Beach Club, the Beach Club is open along with the Park Fry Stand in the front of the Beach Club, I had them on Saturday and they were goooooooood!! Also, the Hotel Conneaut is open for business too, hopefully more to come next year.
I hope that this wonderful old park is saved and can see another 100 years. I have many a fond memories of summers I spent riding the rides in this great park. The old walk through fun house, long since gone, Devils Den, the Blue Streak, Wild Mouse, and the Turtle, all were great fun when I was a kid.
Wow, what a great video! I especially love the shots of the old Moon Rocket ride and the pictures showing the ferris wheel and Scramble when they were by Dodgem. The Fairyland Forest pics were great too. Thanks for the wonderful memories!
This video is absolutely awesome! Thank you for sharing it with so many that love the park. I have the Conneaut Lake Park Fans site and hope that you will post a link there for everyone to see this.
I know what you all must be going through. I live in Orlando, FL and was sad to see Cypress Gardens which was known world wide for their gardens and ski shows close in 2001. Fortunately Kent Buschler Bought it in 2004 and turned and it into Cypress Gardens Adventure Park by adding some thrill rides and some coasters. It went through it's rough patches but now it's back thankfully. I just hope some one does the same thing for Conneaut Lake Park. If not, then I hope those old rides are saved.
This is a wonderful video! It made me cry, but it is wonderful. I grew up going to the park every summer & know what it was like in it's heyday & what it's like now because of years of mismanagement/no management & neglect.
I believe that the decline of Conneaut Lake Park all started with the removal of Fairyland Forest. And then in 1989 the sale of the original Carousel horses, and then in 1992 with the demolition of the Midway Buildings. The less attractions you have in an amusement park, the lower the attendance will be.
Great job..In trying to keep up with the news about this park living in Cleveland, its been tough to read about and see the pictures and videos of what has happened to such a great place. It feels similar to a person close to you that doesn't have much time left with us and no matter how optimistic you are and how much you don't want to believe it, you know deep down this is probably the end.
