  • His voice is croaky and not loud enough.

  • His new gear sucks.

  • Mr. Howard Jones, still got it !!! the voice has not changed one bit ♥

  • He looks wonderful! Love the white spiky hair!

  • @1:10 it looks like Howard Jones replaced his dancing gimp with Guy Fieri

  • i was gay too. now im not. thanks howard

  • I was clinically depressed for much of 1983.....this song helped me to come out of my depression, and accept who and what I was, a gay man.. I took the advice in the song, and I threw off my mental chains....something I will be eternally grateful to Mr. Jones for......

  • yes sounds like the rercord single mmm great what the punk looking guy got to with it wasn't there then,,

  • FANTASTIC VERSION!

  • He can't quite hit those high notes like he did back in '83, but he's still got it.

  • who is that pretty girl presenting him ?

  • @thenicedudejay Denise van Outen

  • Saw Howard the other day at Freemont Street Experience in Las Vegas (it was a free show by the way, attended by many). I was really surprised, for an older guy etc. he's really rocking. One could learn a lot from this guy esp. as far music the writing itself goes. Great sounds off that keyboard, great vocals too.

  • I flew to London from Sweden last year, inNovember 2010 only to see his anniversary concert at the IndigO2. BEST concert memory of my life! Howard Jones deserves his status as a synt pop icon.

  • excellent artist, blast from the past

  • just brilliant = 2:55 - 3:29

  • fantastic years on, how can you say a bad word about a real positive track.loved it then love it now.

Feel sorry for the kids now, cos u got ta b street blud.if it aint fra ma clik aint kool.

  • Una extraordinaria versión de "new song"...saludos desde Perú

  • Okay, I'm a 15 year old emo girl, but I love him and this song!! xD

  • the same great sound, the same great song. it's simply timeless!

  • he was great at our town festival, plays live too, how many can say the same now?

  • Where's the loony dancer Jed

  • I wanted to 'throw off my mental chains' so I thought I'd look at vids of the music I grew up with. And 1983 was a happy year for me. I think Howard looks good here-I want a hug from him:)

  • At least he's not all wrinkly though

  • he is just one of those artist's that make me smile whenever I hear him on radio or telly. Cheers for the upload!

  • Howard Jones wrote some of the best, smartest, catchiest songs of the 80s New Wave era. Even people who didn't like New Wave like his music. He has a great library of work, and is still putting out great songs. Got to see him live a few years ago, and he still sounded as good as he was in the 80s.

  • Great, Great artist, excellent composer, those were the original people, so creative. What the time it was! I remember i was studying political sciences in my college at Lahore (Pakistan) and this song was like hottest one, I used to play it with full volume on my Akai tape deck!

  • he sounds great live, which is more than can be said for a lot of 'singers' today

  • he s still got more hair than me

  • Met the guy in Manchester at Picadilly radio a long time ago. Always had time for people and a totally all round great guy. ronin 147800 is dead on.

  • 25 lat później ....::)czas jak rzeka....

  • a timeless legend,

  • SHOUDNT IT BE CALLED 'OLD SONG' BY NOW?

  • Shit..it's Timmy Mallet playing keyboards wide awakers

  • i like the previous intro

  • Love His Music and Lyrics! Not a bad business role model! Stay Happy Howard we loved your positive upbeat style and enjoy all your songs.....Me, myself and I at least!!!

  • Super performance ! Finalement, Howard Jones demeure un vrai artiste, même 25 ans après...

  • Their song should tribute to the SUPERGIRL series Hope, Helen Slater will like this. This song celebrates Superman's Cousin Kara arriving to Planet Earth in her youth years to live with her cousin and she becomes Linda Lee Danvers

  • @DannyLovesOregon I must be one of the few people in the word who actually knows what you mean!

  • Thank you for understanding

  • This man made synthesizers cool.

  • you still got in in you howard ... was the best then and still are now :-) xxxx

  • I am proud to say that 1983 was the year I was born :)

  • he was a classically-trained musician, so I guess he is different from the rest of the musicians.... HE COULD THINK!!!! But yeah, 80s music was one of the best ever!!!!

  • This is 26 years since the SUPERGIRL movie was released back in 1984 and Helen Slater and the casting crew should've been there

  • Teach them kids how its done howard! Fucking legend!

  • Everyone has got the lyrics wrong so far.. it's not "man to chains", no "metal chain" it's "Throw off your mental chains"... such a powerful song. I always get goosebumps

  • Comment removed

  • I used to thinkt he said "Grow up you're meant to change"!!

  • WELL AINT ....you the silly one....aahh ..iam only kidding ,hey what a tune man

  • it was actually ,throw of your man to chains, but i guess thats just another example of DUMBING down

  • Howard Jones,sooo goood

  • He still looks good! Go Howard!

  • I think he even looks better with age and a tad more to him.. lol.. ;-) Yum

  • The tag is not deceiving, the actual title of the track is "New Song"

  • blow it out your bawtam

  • he should do a concert with only only analog synths like jupiter 8 instead of digital synths like fantom

  • howard jones useing digital synthesizers just is not right...

  • That's easy for you to say!

  • great artist:) but he is old today, unfortunately:( but still handsome;)

  • this song meant so much to me back when it came out

    Throw off your metal chains

  • fantastica lo mejor de lomejor.

  • Very good live performance, good Howard!

  • Now listen to Solsbury Hill by Peter Gabriel. Spot the difference? No, thought not!

  • What!?!

  • What doing actually howard jones????

    Is a musican extraordinary

  • I watched all of this show and Howard and Nick Heyward were the only ones that had live music as well as vocals! Great stuff Howard, Robbie and Laura!!!

  • Howard Jones is great, always was and always will be. Besides that he's damn smart too. He's one of the few new wave artists who isn't broke and destitute. He saved and invested his money wisely. I suppose if he was a burnout loser who had blown all his fame & fortune on coke, booze and hookers he'd be more appealing, right? To all the moronic jackasses slamming him on here, do yourselves a favor and think before you say something stupid.

  • @ronin147800 Yeah! The media doesnt like him because he didnt end up like Boy George, the media only likes it when artist become rich and blow it all on drugs because they like to show that only the born rich can handle money, can I also add that Thomas Dolby was also anther smart investor from the 80s, :)

  • @FalineWhiteTailDoe Is that an insult towards george?

  • @boygeorgebaby84 Oh no!! I love Boy George! The media have been setting him up since day one! And I feel sad about all the negative why that he’s always portrayed, I don’t believe anything bad I’ve read about him in the news because I know its all lies.

  • @boygeorgebaby84 I’m very sad to hear the news about ex Japan bassist who now has stage 4 cancer, Midge Ure is planning to do a concert to help rise money for his treatment as his family are struggling with supporting him, all the details are on Mick Karn’s website,

  • @FalineWhiteTailDoe Sadly, Mick Karn like countless others before him could not be saved from the clutches of cancer. The world's politicians should spend less on guns and warfare and more on eradicating cancer...the world would be a happier place

  • @FalineWhiteTailDoe Well said!

  • @ronin147800 i agree most people r retarded. Howard Jones is a music master. all that digital music he did back int he 80's was so complicating especially cuz it was all analog to know what ur doing when to do it and keep ur timing in the entire song and sing, with a real voice, is just amazing. I love and play heavy metal but if u dont know or like howard jones u dont know anything about music. originality is also somethen u dont se in music today.

  • @ronin147800 hear hear

  • Duh, he´s NOT playing on a switched off Phantom you imbecill!

  • Grey and balding who gives a shit. The song is more relevant than anything the "artists" of today offer.

  • @bakic21156 At least he still has enough hair on his head to spike it up the way he did back in the early 80s

  • I love you The New Song

  • Love it! one of the best songs ever! this old song is always the "new song" for me! It can never be forgot! and Howard jones still looks cool!

  • this was only shown in Scotland in December 27th!

  • gran cancion adelatada a su epoca totalmete tecno -electronico saludos desde Puebla Mexico , uhhhh, uhhhh, uhhhhh¡

  • Lol.. playing on a switched off Roland Fantom.....

  • what is she playing at the back

  • It's a vocal harmoniser or something.

google Laura Clapp and you'll see her demonstrating it an an electronics show

  • Geez, I wish I would've known about this when it aired on TV!!

Howard's voice still has that charm it did back in his days!

  • Saw Howard on the Big Rewind Tour in Chicago, and while we all wanted to see Culture Club, it just seemed like we had more love for him, and more fun with him. Thanks for the great memories Howard!

  • You guys in UK are so lucky to have this program on TV!

How can I get this show? Is it released on DVD?

  • his voice had def. changed, sounds like his singing in a lower octive. love the song tho... it's unique and has a positive idea.

  • Been a fan since the mid-80's and think Howard Jones is one of the most talented artists still... Look forward to him visiting New York again so I can see him live! Love all of his music old and new, and look forward to another great album soon...

  • Great performance Howard. Always were and still are the best.

  • If you go on the ITV website they have footage of "What is Love" from this event.

  • Brilliant - I missed this at the time so thanks so much for uploading. Howard still stands head and shoulders above other artists of that time (and now!)

  • Howard is THE artist from the eighties era.

    Top!!!!

  • Howard Jones is still the Tops!! Fantastic keyboard/synth player, amazing!!

  • wow! Thanks for uploading this!!! I had no idea that this was on tv till the next day when my friend told me about it! I'm so glad I got to see it here! Thanks for uploading it!

Mr. Jones, you are the greatest!
