Those last few seconds of this song should repeat forever.... it sounds like it never should end. That chord with the swells behind it and Steve's slide guitar... it pulsates as it were a heart beat. The perfect ending to that album. I still can't define the emotion it gives me.
the guitar finale 6:57 thou that from the original TFTO version, is for me one of the more outstanding and more inspirational and creative passages in history of rock music.
nobody commands a bass like chris squire. I have have seen YES at least 25 times and he allways steals the show. BRAVO. my all time favorite band from day 1. squire is the reason I play the bass.
Saw Alan do this full song with his band "White" last year at a small theatre here in Tacoma (Temple Theatre)... with the Synergia Orchestra... and The Seattle Seahawks marching band...BlueThunder ! Was FRONT ROW ! A little TOO CLOSE !!!! The stage was floor level and the marching band was literally 2 feet in front of me. Was intense to say the least!
I have a video of it but it's 18 min... so I guess I need to split it.
OMG this is great! THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! The album is a work of art that I hold close to my heart (maybe it had something to do all the acid I was on while I discovered the album in 1978). My neighbors will be hating me cause I may play the shit outa this over the next few days
What a magnificent amalgam of aural pleasures.........real musicians performing real music............pure serenity dancing on the air...........with tense, dissonant tones building to a climax of of impossible beauty...................Thank God this exists, and that He gave me the ability to appreciate it. Peace:-)
there are no words for the feeling the end of tales from topographic oceans gives the finale of ritual is beautiful melancholic and brings out emotion that no other music can
This is my favourite Yes live performance of all time, there are no better guitarists in tandem than Chris Squires and Steve Howe: by the way whose the girl percussionist at 00:15, I think she's gorgeous.
@larrydart13 She is one of the string players in the European Festival Orchestra; during the orchestral tour (2001), all the orchestras joined in on certain pieces when they weren't playing the string & brass parts. And she is adorable, isn't she?
This song used to get me from Durango Colorado to points south in New Mexico very nicely ... i.e. i love this song

Great, but Steve's guitar solo at the end is very slow and weak compared to the 1970's. Watch the version from Queens Park 1975 to see what I mean!
