I like the way they use the vibes (vibraphone) to create the mood for this song. I wonder if current artists even know what vibes are. Smokey sings each note very well and musicians have tight playing. I wonder how does a song writer arrange the instruments and vocals for a song. I mean, how do you figure out what comes first, second, etc? How do you decide what instruments to use? You have to be very creative to have that kind of job. This song floats and is perfect in so many ways.

this song took me into high school when smokey left the group i thought it was over but this album came out i bought when i heard baby come close but when i bought the album wow holly was tight and my favorite cut was a silent partner in a three way love affair everybodys gone though that in their life in high school

Hey guys I've been trying to find this song for some months. Funny my 20 year old daughter is a academic scholar and is suddenly headed down this path. It didn't come out of no where. I saw it and brought it to her attention months ago. I had to remember WE ARE NOT OUR CHILDRENS ONLY INFLUENCE. I know I raised her right, good morals, church, being a good example. In between the tears, and anger I just keep praying. Thanks for reading and getting this off my chest.

I remember when this album came out. Smokey's first album solo. This song and Just My Soul Responding were my favorites. As a man I took the same trip for 32 years. Ten different chemicals ruled my life. What a learning experience. For 14 years now I have been off that spaceship.

One of his very best there is no doubt about it. This and and sweet harmony are off his first solo album simply called SMOKEY it came out in 1973.

$200 bucks???? I just bought a mint copy for $8. Is your version gold plated or something. you might be having trouble searching for it b/c its self-titled and smokey has a bizillion albums. I just saw 10 copies on ebay for under $20
