It is him. Sean Altman. The second guy to sing was also part of the original Rockapella but he left before they did the Carmen Sandiego theme in the early 90s. Clearly he isn't as good as Scott Leonard (the current guy).
it's cuz scott leonard's a gem. Sean altman's first verse is such a welcome throwback for me, but i need the combo of scott and sean for this to really be moving.
It was definitely not Steve on Carmen. It was Scott by then. To my knowledge, the only time you'd have seen Steve with Rockapella was on Spike Lee's Do It A Cappella.
However, Sean has become FAR more online accessible to his fans since leaving the group. I still miss him, though! (And, er, they were ALL very accessible in person.)
you guys need to loosen up. I used to watch the original show back in the early nineties and it sounds just as good and catchy as it did then. Stop being so crytical and appreciate talent when you hear it. Its not like they all sound like sanjai or something.
You can sure tell Sean from RP does the arranging here; the harmony is spot-on to how they sounded on the show back in the 90s

This would have been much better without the Beatbox. Totally unnecessary. Not appealing either. Love Sean and Charlie!!

yah - steve keyes to scott leonard was a MAJOR upgrade

i've since changed my mind (about my comment below). after watching some more vids of The Goovebarbers, they pretty much rule!!!

Is it or did the first guy to sing look like an older version of the dude with the dreads who was in Rockapella during the Show.

Yes. Scott is the king of high tenors!

@KTKore The guy on bass was also from the original Rockapella group, but he left before Steve (the second guy did)

These are ok, but Rockapella has a certain way of singing this these guys don't exactly have

kinda feel sorry for steve. its kinda impossible not to compare him to scott who is a freak at singing. but he still does a good job

I liked that.

Just not the same as Rockapella's original, nor the current Rockapella.
The Groovebarbers just don't have that "punch" that the current Rockapella has now, and I'm not talking Jeff's drums.

Yep. Steve (the high tenor here) has the range, but not the voice. Scott Leonard has the range and a great voice.

Not bad.

Actually, only Sean was on Carmen Sandiego. Steve and Charlie left Rockapella before then.

It sounds very very similar to the original...
If you did it all by yourself with no backing track, then you've done an incredible job!

at least 3 members of groovebarbers were in rockapella

No...
a) Steve used to be able to sing back in the early nineties, but his voice is absolutely gone
b) Scott is a way better singer than Steve ever was.
ArthurVandalay44 4 years ago 3
From what I've seen Steve's always sounded like that...

This is not Rockapella, this is the Groovebarbers. Sean retired in 97' and Steve in 91'. Nice version though.
