I also LOVE Jim Carrey's serious acting, although that's not his "bread and butter"....but he is an amazing actor. "Majestic" is another movie that he had a serious role in...and he was brilliant in that, too. He pours his heart and soul into every role, and I respect that of him.

it does somewhat follow the allegory of the cave, however the important difference is that one of the points of the allegory is that people still inside the cave would never be able to comprehend or believe the person who left the cave. Here, everyone else in the proverbial cave is there to keep Truman inside. Either way, it's a good point to note the similarities. The Matrix also borrows some ideas from the same allegory.

this movie has a very beautiful revelation in it, it's about how all those people walking around, don't know there are angels watching everything they do, and if they found out, it would change them, change how they behave, it would mess them up, so it's better if they don't know. There are two kinds of atheists, the ones who see all the hurt and pain in this world and question how there could be a God. That kind of atheism can be beautiful in a way, even though it's ignorant.

He wants out now, he doesn't like the idea that all his thoughts, his most private moments have all been known to legions of angels, to God.
