  • When I was a kid, I used the tank for one arm and the helicopter for the other. That way, he would have the tank's gun on one side and a spinning propeller on the other.

I wanted him to be able to fuck shit up!

  • I've just recently saw one of the episodes of the Combaticons and I like this review you did! Swindle's my favorite of the group in both G1 and Animated!

  • Not to be annoying, but the title is spelled wrong. Great review, as usual, simon.

  • u have got to be kidding me

  • actually TFW2005.com says "Blast Off" is Movor

  • are you gonna review the NEW Bruticus?

  • Don't forget, Silverbolt, Onslaught also gets another lease of life as part of the Classics 2.0 Universe line as an Ultra Class figure. Nice toy too.

  • this was before that came out...like 2 years before XD

  • I was actually reminding him. I know when it came out. Silverbolt already knows perhaps.

  • lol sorry XD

  • We're cool.

  • that part about their minds locked in a computer but they are fully aware of their surroundings.

Besides swindle being one of the main 'cons in the TFA episode S.U.V, the device he builds (that ultimately causes his demise) is a homage to the combaticons minds locked away in the CPU, because one of the effects of the device is disabling your enemies and have them still aware of their surroundings.

  • military vehicles plus decepticon affiliation should be a knock out combination but he fails.

horrible back story, and horrible transformation mode.

he just looks boring. and really two huge rail guns and they no imagination for its uses but to make it part of his back?

  • The Combaticons were some of the most evil Decepticons out there. Swindle's my favorite one. Good review here.

  • and yet you being the uber guy makes himself feel "tough" by making infantile comments on peoples videos

  • Just ingore these types of comments Simon. You do great work explaining the characters, their histories and the different generations all while being entertaining. Just remember you got alot of fans out here. Chris

PS High Score is finally coming.

  • starscream did not find a space shuttle

  • True, Blast Off was an old WWII plane to my best knowledge. I don't see how space shuttles are part of the military though.

  • You don't like the way he looks because you have set him up wrong. With Onslaught, his arms should be pointing backwards, not down as you have them. This will ensure Bruticus' chest plate stays on correctly and will also give him 'shoulders' and a better profile because the arm modules will be higher up. Also, turn Brawl the other way round so his turret is at the front. AAARRRRGGHH....I can't stand when people don't assemble their gestalts correctly! Try what I said. He'll look much better!

  • RID ruination has brawl/armorhide with the turret at the back. I have my turret in the back because I am used to transforming it the RID way, that the holes in brawl/armorhide (I have ruination), became wider and easier to put the peg for the left foot in. If I turned it around, the other hole isn't really widened enough, and my peg is already stressed enough

And for the love of god. His transformer, his way of transforming it.

  • Yes I know what you're saying. But to me, there is a right way of doing things. The poster says he doesn't like the way he looks...and that IS because he is not set up correctly! Most people that own this toy for example, always put Onslaught's arms facing down, then complain because they think the chest plate doesn't fit correctly. Of course it won't! The way the toy is set on this video makes the arms lower which is why it looks ridiculous.

  • But, to make a transformer look nice, just fiddle it around to make it nice. If having the top of the space shuttle and helicopter facing forward and as feet makes it look "cooler" then so be it. Instructions tell you one way of transforming it. I played with a friend's sinnertwin and rippersnapper, and although the instructions might say one way, I find my own way as effective.

But I do agree he has it wrong.

  • Yes some people do like their own way of setting these things up...but to get the perfect set-up for this toy (not Ruination) look at the cartoon. Brawl's turret is always at the front. If it's pointing the other way, you can see the underside of the tank which doesn't look right. The biggest mess people make though, is with Menasor. Cars in all the wrong places. And you'd surely admit, that with Abominus, putting Blot as a leg, or Cutthroat as an arm just wouldn't look right at all.

  • I put armorhide/brawl the bruticus way, and compared it with the ruination way. For display purposes, I put it the ruination way although I think it looks cooler the bruticus way. Reason why? I find that doing the bruticus way, one tiny nudge to the chest, the whole thing falls backwards, while if you do it the ruination way, it stays standing even with a tiny nudge, and even if the joints are loose.

With menasor, Dead end is left arm on TV while instruction says to put breakdown as left arm

  • I have a black and grey army type repaint

  • That repaint is from the Robots in Disguise line. Bruticus(the Combaticons) were repainted into a character called "Ruination". I have the same.

  • The episode you are reffering to isnt called "The Key To Metroplex" its called "The Ultimate Weapon"

  • yes it is

  • Yes it is what tcot0663?

  • I like Bruitcus I like his head to

  • good review mate-i wished the g1 toy could move like bruticus does in the cartoon.he does in energon-but the g1 toy looks better

  • Also, shade26000.

If you don't like them, get off of tour computer, go uotside, and get some exercize.

  • Trust me I get plenty of exercize. I hike, rockclimb, kayak, paintball, and teach submission grappling. I get plenty! When the rest of my family is watching TV I like to get on the computer instead. You could use spell check.

  • Dude, you misspelled Bruticus...FYI

  • Why watch them then?

  • I don't, I just stumbled across it trying to show my son what he would wind up being like if he doens't grow up. I have to say I was a bit locked into watching it. I was just confused, you know waiting on a punch line or something. This guy is for real....lol It's almost scary. tho think some one like this could be living right next door and talking with your kids. You know.

  • Just because someone collects toys doesn't make them a pervert who's out to get your kids.

Toys such as Transformers are extremely collectable/valuable therefore it's good such a bad hobby

It should be noted that Silverbolt displays most of his Transformers.

Would you say that same thing about someone who makes models?

  • dude try running 3,000 meters in under 7minute and 43 seconds!!shade26000 i love transformers i always will.i dont care what you think or anybody else for that matter.

  • u are a fucking fag

  • Dude...what the HELL are you babbling about? You are claiming to be a fan, yet your poorly downing another Transfan in one of the most IGNORANT ways Ive personally ever seen. Shut up. For the love of god. Please.

  • lol! showing your kid what he'll be like if he doesnt grow up and then making fun of someone? i think you need to grow up

  • shut up what does it matter to you anyway

  • Was that addressed to me or Shade26000?

  • it was directed to shade26000 no not you topgunSGA you have a good point

  • Ok just wanted to be sure

  • you missed out battle gaia from operation combination, which is a nice repaint. Good review though

  • You made a comment about Bruticus's torso being too square. That's because you actually don't have him transformed properly. Onslaught's arms do not lay at the sides of Bruticus's torso. Onslaught's arms are supposed to be swung upward, so that the grill of his truck mode is facing behind Bruticus; forming his shoulder blades. In this manner, Brutcus has a shaped torso, having "lats." You can see many examples on Japanese gift se box art, etc. Regardless, your reviews are entertaining!

  • Have you considered the Sticker Upgrade set from reprolabels? I do agree that he looks very bland. At the very least they could have put some stickers on his chest.

Still, out of all the scrable-city combiners, he's my choice for the one I'm getting. I am getting the regular-sized KO for about $6, and I'm hoping its okay. I'm still getting the original regardless.

  • They actually look better as the combaticons because of the really nice colors on the stickers!

  • Swindles a man whore!

  • Bruticus was one of my favorite combiners. I actually own the all metal chest version today and I would never give him up! Bruticus was not very intelligent but, he could really kick some ass case in point shockwave!

  • could ya do a review on G1 galvatron??

  • "Worse then the generation 2 devastator" What?...the g2 devastator is a nice yellow variant which depicts an accurate color sceme in reference to our 'earth' construction vehicles. The first lime green devestator is quite questionable. And the second variant of bruticus is also not that bad, its better then the desert strike ruination. This just proves that your poor british opinions and reviews on g1 and current day transformers merchandise is highly quesitonable and inaccurate. Good day.

  • wow..dude, its OPINION leave silverbolt alone

  • I don't know but for ruination, the instructions said to put mega octane/onslaught's arms backwards when transforming into ruination/bruticus to give it a "thinner feel", but I guess that you don't want to turn him into a "silverbolt", aka the very skinny aerialbot.

Is Bruticus transformed like that? I don't own any G1 stuff so I don't really know, as in with the onslaught arms positioned downwards compared to backwards?

  • The G2 bruticus. Here's my opinion.

    OH HELLLLS NO.

  • When Starcream created the Combaticons, Blast Off and Vortex were both WWII airplanes before the personality components were put into them.

  • I want a Brawl but its 40 quid which is bloody dear even though its a VERY nice toy

  • Well.... you know by now that Brawl got called Devastator in the DVD... :D At least he was in mine.

  • Do you have Devastator

  • Your reviews are really great. I really enjoy watching them. I have a review request for Darkwing and Dreadwind. Those would be really great!

  • The episode that you refer too with Swindle selling the parts of the other combaticons is B.O.T. and was the last episode recorded before the TF:TM. So, By watching this episode, We realise that the writers of TF:TM had no idea what they wanted yet.

  • Do you have G1 devastator?

  • not yet now i but i will do

  • can you do beast wars rattrap, quikstrike and tarantulas review

  • I got a knock-off of Bruticus from Walgreens this week, and it is freakin WIERD!! It's got G2 Blast-off, Car robots Swindle, Car Robots Ruination pieces, and the rest is RID colored!(The series is called Transformable Motorbots, and there other Knock offs are good, in case someones interested.)

  • walgreen sell transformer and KO?

  • the other Maximus looks exactly like Superion Maximus as he appears for 10 seconds at the end of Superion's fight with the others

  • You know. If they ever put in the other Combaticons in future Transformers movies, I wonder how they are going to pull off some of other ones, especially Blast Off, who transforms into a Space Shuttle.

  • does bruticus appear in toys r us? i really want to get him

  • nope, hes long off the shelves

  • good review, I have the Universe desert camo version of Bruticus (or Ruination as he's called). Can you do a classics Devastator or Universe Devastator review?

  • Cool! I used to have the space shuttle. Forgot his name.

Any chance of reviewing G1 Cyclonus? I used to have him as a kid.

  • blast-off was his name.he was a space shuttle next to astrotrain.

  • hey lov ur reviews man can u do a review on movie verison Signal Flare plz

  • what type of camera do u use is it a web cam

  • hey silverbolt cud u do a review on fortress maximus

  • i would if i could i havent got him

  • thats ashame

  • do u have armada prime? ive had the unicron triligies armada optimus. i want armada megatron/Galvatron.

  • wuldnt it be cool if he reviewed cybertron optimus prime

  • i guess but i dont like cybertron prime. i like energon and armada prime. ive had armada prime loveds him untill my older sis killed him.

  • u kno i heard da combaticons will be on da nex transformers movie i also heard da dinobots nd soudwave will 2

  • jazz will be brought back as smokescreen i think.

  • I know The Combaticons first featured on Starscream's Brigade but why were they seen ambushing The Aerialbots in an earlier episode (I forget the name) on the new dvd series release?

  • dude get hired by the BBC to do editorials and shit on transformers cause that would rage hard

  • cool review

  • Greetings from Singapore, Alex here. May I request a review on Insecticons? Possibly all 3 of them ?

Bombshell , Kickback and Sharpnel, thanxs!

  • Agreed, I'd also like to see the Insecticons featured. But a more logical progression would probably be the Constructicons (seeing as you've covered the other Season 1/2 combiner teams)

  • hey Dyansis, are you planning on getting the new starscream repaint? I hear its going to be a walmart exclusive.

  • Nope, theres a TomyTakara release as well. Basically its the same packaging as US hasbro but with a stupid sticker in Japanese on it. :)

  • you put brawl on backwords

  • y'know, i like that it's been repainted so many times. i can pick 'n choose, even though i agree that the toy really seems to lack play-ability being such a square and not really functional toy because of stiff joints and lack of knees and elbows, i do really like the walmart "camo" color schemes, and the price is right for what's essentially a shelf-toy.

  • can u do a review of g1 galvatron and/ or powermaster optimus prime

  • I'd second that. I love Powermaster Prime and have wanted Galvatron since forever, even though they're both clunky, malproportioned and Galvatron is colored all wrong.

  • if u get takara reissue they have him with the colors all right.

  • dont ever get rodimus prime. i got him for my birthday,(4 days after feb 18 07) mine never came with the trailers sticker that goes around that rubby autobot symbol and the head light stickers. never came with gun, his yellow spoiller is rediculus and his stickers are all worn out. so never get rodimus, his legs dont move. i would take G1HotRod

  • I got Rodimus for my birthday, too. The legs may not move, but as a child I always loved him for his trailor.

"Okay, Galvatron, you wanna play rough? Say "hello" to my little friend!"

  • lol

  • Yeah if they retroactively fix brawls name on the DVD it'll be because they realized how bad they shot themselves in the foot in using the most recognisable gesalt name on some random decepticon. It would also be an indicator they want to make another film (using the gesalts somewhere because they're a great hook.)

  • I must say that Ruination (bruticus XD) has a Gay Cowboy look going on about him T.T i would know I use to have him >> then he broke and ive been tyring to get the rid repaint ever since

  • great review silverbolt. Bruticus is a great Decepticon. My favorite combaticon is Onslaught. How I display my own Bruticus is that I make Onslaught's arms face towards the back, that way Bruticus doesn't look so "square".

  • Can't say I like the gestalts, but Silverbolt seems to like them. I just never liked them that much because the big robots rarely look good. They always look like they have cars for legs (Menasor, Defensor) or they have Airplanes for arms (Superion, Computron). Even in the cartoons they looked terrible. I think the only ones I liked were Devastator and Predaking.

  • Hey Dyansis,

I swear I saw a Leader class movie Brawl/Devastator in Woolworths this morning. I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure there was one.

    Good review as always.

  • Yes, they did make one & they are making a repaint of it called Desert Attack Brawl

  • excellent review as always. just bought the transformers ultimate guide- omega supreme looks awesome (page 37?) if there is a toy and you have him he would make an excellent review. cheers!!

  • a book i heartily intend to buy

  • "it's like queer eye for the straight guy got their hands on him" - gold!

it's been a while since you did a g1 gesalt review, but it was well worth the wait. u r so funny

  • its a sonic stun gun

  • Great vid as usual. I've watched most of your reviews and you have rekindled my interest in the Transformers. Your knowledge of the characters is quite impressive. Do you research before you make a vid, or is this all from memory? If so, you should look into teaching this at a university. I mean, if they have courses on "The histroy of comic book heros" and "How to speak Klingon", why not Transformers? Ha! Keep up the good work!

  • now theres a plan lol, most of it is from memory but some things i have to research, especially the smaller stories from the comics

  • looks goood

has a cool name being a brute and all

  • Another great review Silverbolt, I like your personal touch with each character you review. When it comes to Combiners I could never get the complete Giftsets, my local independent toystore during the 80's/early 90's never stocked them. It was always the individual TFs and that put me off as I new I could never complete a Combiner. :(

  • Nice review, but yeah, he is -bland- colorwise. I have his G2 arms & legs (never found Onslaught back then) and I myself love the camouflage colors.

  • He very big! Cool! I want!

  • I would have liked to see the individual vehicles but other than that, another great review!

  • SWINDLE!!! SWINDLE!!! SWINDLE!!! Swindle Rocks! He's so freakin great!!!!!! SWINDLE! SWINDLE! SWIIIIIIINNNNDDDLLLLEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The best Transformer out of any combiner squad!!!!

  • Best thing about Bruticus is the Scramble city tech of swapping arms and legs really matters with his toy form and in Robots in Disguise, different formations give him different abilities.

  • You should fold onslaughts arms back so bruticus has a waist instead of looking like arms and legs stuck on a refrigerator. It makes a huge difference in my opinion.

  • Excellent review, by the way - I don't suppose you could feature any figures from the latter half of G1 ie: 1987 - 1990 (Headmasters, Targetmasters, Powermasters etc...) in your next review?

  • there is a review of Targetmaster HotRod and Headmaster ChromeDome if you look deeper.

  • A rather trivial issue, I know, but you've repeatedly mispronounced this word.

    ge·stalt /gəˈʃtɑlt, -ˈʃtɔlt, -ˈstɑlt, -ˈstɔlt/

    [guh-shtahlt, -shtawlt, -stahlt, -stawlt]

    w w w DOT thefreedictionary DOT com / gestalt

(has a recording of the word being intoned etc...)

  • Also vortex was a spitfire plane.

  • Blast Off wasn't originally a space shuttle he was a bomber plane. He was just rebuilt offscreen into the shuttle.

  • Blackout was known as Vortex in early scripts.

    -PYO

  • that repaint pic you put up is* the G2 one. i dont konw the year on it but yeah it's G2. they got all the pics on TFU

  • i seem to remember that they defied megatron in the story in the cartoons too... only reason i say is because i remember this aspect of the story but i have never read a transformers comic, only seen the cartoons

  • Nice...

  • Btw you don't quite have Bruticus transformed properly. You need to swing up Onslaughts arms, that way Brutics has a much thinner waist and a more "upmf" feeling too him and he doesn't look like a square brick.

  • great as always

  • I feel the same way about Bruticus; to me, there's just something about him that feels unfinished.

  • Bruticus has been recoloured numeruous times. G.1 Bruticus, G.1 Japanese Battle Gaia, G.2 Bruticus, Car Robots Baldigus, RiD Ruination & Walmart Ruination Desert camouflage & Walmart Ruination Urban camouflage - 7 repaints. I'm not sure if I forgot one.

  • Bruticus had 6 Hasbor/Takara recolors there was the G1 version, the Operation Comibination, recolor the G2 version, RID Runination, and 2 diffenent Transformers Universe recolors. Then there were all those knock off's. The most reused of the combiners.

  • i did know there was more recolours but wasnt too sure on the reasons behind tehm (comics, marketing, carttoons etc)

  • Nice shirt

  • great revieww as always

    /5 stars

  • Kool video, though I have to say I do prefer the Generation 2 color scheme for the combaticons. But G1 Bruticus himself looks great.

  • You mean you prefer Fruiticus ? hehe

  • Awesome review as always..

  • they all started out as world war 2 vehicles. after they had their put personalities in the vehicles they all gained new modern vehicle modes

  • cool

  • alright first to watch!

  • cool
