I really like the Droid, and I have a profound respect for the Android platform and I really like what Google is doing to continuously improve the feature-set and general user experience.
I don't know, though... It's just something about the iPhone. I think it's the elegance and cleanliness of the UI, in addition to the intuitiveness of the general experience and sheer number of apps that still give Apple the edge over Android.
Wanted a smart phone and already have an iPod Touch so getting an iPhone seemed completely redundant and if I was going to have a $100 a month phone bill I might as well get the best phone out there. iPhone aside, the Droid was the only clear option. The first few days were very strange. The Droid definitely doesn't fit into your hand as nice as an iPhone does and it really takes some time to get used to it. Not as user friendly as the iPhone, but a pure power-house of a mobile device. Love it.
Droid vs iPhone is all good and well, but one thing that impressed me with Verizon is that they offered insurance on my phone. AT&T never did. If two carriers are offering good phones, but one is willing to give me a way to protect a 200 dollar investment, I'm gonna go with that one.

I got the Motorola Droid last month, and have friends with the iPhone. I also have an iPod Touch. I prefer the droid hands down. Its extremely fast, fully customizeable, and the app store is coming around quite nicely, and fast. I have compared browsing speeds between my droid and the iPhone (3g test), droid won by an average of 20-30 seconds each time. Also, Droid 3g vs iPod Touch wifi, and the droid's 3g won again. That just goes to show you how fast this phone is.
Apple did not make iPhone for you to compare with Droid, iphone has a great music player, nice internet connection and lots of functionalities! What else do you need? A fancy hardware with bigger screen?
Both the Droid and Nexus One have larger screens, far better resolution, longer lasting and user removable batteries, higher MP cameras w/ flash, faster processor (Snapdragon on Nexus), offer far more customization, better build quality, Droid runs on a far better Verizon network (AT&T sucks), and Android is an open platform market growing by leaps and bounds. The hardware is superior, the OS is better (Google), the network is better,,,,,,,,,,,let's see, anything else?? LOLOL
The iPhone itself it a great phone, but from what I understand, the reason for the bad service is because the service is carrier is often overwhelemed by the vast amount of users downloading/browsing, texting and so on. This is one of the speculations on why some AT&T carriers stopped selling iPhones altogether.

the solution is simple. ATT sucks, verizon is the best, just get an ipod touch if you are not willing to completley let go of the iphone. But as far as phone service, and hardware, DROID wins. Pretty much the only thing about the iphone is that it has more(useless storefilling) apps. + the iphone was first, and its been ou tso long, people have attachments to it that are hard to get rid of. Anyway, I think the Droid might have better hardware but its not going to be able to catch up to the iPhone in regards to the app store and things it can do now. I won't be switching, that's for sure. Plus I'm too used to working with iTunes and my iPhone is my iPod. Its nice having everything in one device.

Android has a soft-keyboard as well as the physical one, so you could use that, As for games on Android, there aren't many good games at the moment, but I'm sure that will change. :)

In my area (Houston) it is the best service and has the largest service area. I know this because I carried an AT&T phone and a Verizon phone around with me everywhere I went, and the Verizon service rocked no matter where I was at. AT&T on the other hand.... Epic Fail!
If you mean coverage it's got solid coverage. It's pricey though. But, no more expensive than At&t. The only real downside is that the phones aren't really all that great up until now.
I've had Verizon for almost 6years. I've been afraid to switch because I heard that everyone else's coverage is shitty. So I might be getting the droid now, but I was going to get the iPhone cuz it was sexy. But the droid is super sexy too.

I'm a big fan of these open source OS's such as Android and Maemo, and even though I would want a phone powered by one of them over the iPhone OS, Apple and there iPhone have my repect. People can talk about hardware and software all they want, but as long as people have the image of the iPhone in their head, it will always be dominant in that sense.

But yes, the Droid does have a higher screen resolution, camera flash, and physical keyboard (if you prefer that over the iPhone's virtual one, unlike me). It's also uglier and has little space for apps without unrooting. It's not an iPhone killer, but it's a nice alternative.
Regardless of the SD card size, apps aren't can't be stored on them. You're stuck with a few hundred MB.

the solution is simple. ATT sucks, verizon is the best, just get an ipod touch if you are not willing to completley let go of the iphone. But as far as phone service, and hardware, DROID wins. Pretty much the only thing about the iphone is that it has more(useless storefilling) apps. + the iphone was first, and its been ou tso long, people have attachments to it that are hard to get rid of. So like I said before, get the droid(better phone an service) and get an ipod touch.

Anyway, I think the Droid might have better hardware but its not going to be able to catch up to the iPhone in regards to the app store and things it can do now. I won't be switching, that's for sure. Plus I'm too used to working with iTunes and my iPhone is my iPod. Its nice having everything in one device.

Android has a soft-keyboard as well as the physical one, so you could use that, As for games on Android, there aren't many good games at the moment, but I'm sure that will change. :)

In my area (Houston) it is the best service and has the largest service area. I know this because I carried an AT&T phone and a Verizon phone around with me everywhere I went, and the Verizon service rocked no matter where I was at. AT&T on the other hand.... Epic Fail!

If you mean coverage it's got solid coverage. It's pricey though. But, no more expensive than At&t. The only real downside is that the phones aren't really all that great up until now.

I've had Verizon for almost 6years. I've been afraid to switch because I heard that everyone else's coverage is shitty. So I might be getting the droid now, but I was going to get the iPhone cuz it was sexy. But the droid is super sexy too.

Kind of sucks that the droid is only on verizon because I happen to like ATT and not ready to change my service. I do have a iPhone right now and getting pretty tired of it and the more I look at the droid the better it looks to me. I mean it's got a flash camera on a cell phone and the big major differance for me is I would get a real key board. I don't know I love my iPhone but would willing to change if the droid was on ATT. Might change anyways... who knows

they both run totally different.
droid has SLIGHTLY upgraded most of the iphone features, but hasn't one over it. small upgrades compared to the iphone wont matter much though because-shit i forgot....

Personally, the iPhone commands the entire cell phone market mainly because Apple was first to the scene -- plus it offers the convenience of iTunes (can the Droid interface with iTunes?)...
My opinion is that the iPhone (while it has some competition) has nothing to worry about.

I'm a big fan of these open source OS's such as Android and Maemo, and even though I would want a phone powered by one of them over the iPhone OS, Apple and there iPhone have my repect. People can talk about hardware and software all they want, but as long as people have the image of the iPhone in their head, it will always be dominant in that sense.

And megapixels aren't everything. I'd like to see quality comparisons of pictures and videos taken with both once it's released.
But yes, the Droid does have a higher screen resolution, camera flash, and physical keyboard (if you prefer that over the iPhone's virtual one, unlike me). It's also uglier and has little space for apps without unrooting. It's not an iPhone killer, but it's a nice alternative.

Regardless of the SD card size, apps aren't can't be stored on them. You're stuck with a few hundred MB.
