  • I hate Phoebus D;< The stupid jock.

  • Let me hang him D:

  • Gringoire's face is sooooo adorable at 7:27-7:37! I would marry him!

  • they make gysys act retarded ! why!!!!

  • I'm so glad Esmeralda doesn't hook up with Phoebus in this movie (is he even a main character?). That's part I hated most in the silent version- them going gaga over each other all the time!

  • @StellianAriolus It was in the book, though.

  • Damn...that guy really wanted to hang him

  • 4:19 Michael Palin's immortal soul on the right?

  • penny sir?

  • love gringoire!!

  • I hate Phoebus in this film, the disney Phoebus is much better!

I love that guy, who keeps saying: "Let me hang him!"

  • Oh my gosh. Gringoire is kind of adorable. You know, in a hopelessly inept sort of way.

  • Gringoire is cute! Lol i love him!

  • "Never wait for a man, my dear." hahaha yep that woman sure got that right.

  • fantastic , i read this novel in 2000, when I finished my higher sec school, but this novel is still in mind.............after 10 years i find it back. I am also writer dats y i have many things to learn from this classic literature.

  • Gringoire is a good looking guy,

  • Immortal Classic.

  • I love Clopin. He's so raw. "I'm above that sort of thing. I cut throats! I don't cut-purses." And I love this scene. Poor Gringoire, I feel sorry for that lovely poor fool all the time.

  • I love Edmond O'Brien! He's really young in this too!! Thanks for posting.

  • LOL

King: Try to take a purse out of that pocket... if one single bell jingles... you'll fail. :D

    Gringore: And then what happens?

    King: Then ya' hang. :D

  • I love Gringoire in this !!!

He'll probably end up being a total ass in the end, like he was in the book, but he's so funny here.

  • @insaneforstuff254 I like Gringoire in the book

  • @ripthefranks

I know! He's funny as hell. My favoirite part is where he's getting so exited about telling Frollo about his love for stones ((:

  • gringoire reminds me of jude law :S

  • come to think about it, there isnt a single movie starring Charles L that i dont like, he is an amazing classical actor

  • I would have taken Gringoire in a second. It would be nice to have someone to philosophize with for all enternity.

  • At 1:23 that would freaked me out more than the huchback would haved.

  • lol "my rope"

that was such a passionate cry^^

  • Isn't this the same actor who played Gerald O'Hara in "Gone With The Wind"?

  • @southfieldmo Yep, Thomas Mitchell.

  • I get why she was scared but like did she have to run away like that

  • What would you do?

  • dont get me wrong i love this movie i guess frollo would have creped me out 2 and a man apparing from the dark is scary i just feel sori for quazi

  • plus i love maureen o hara so if she wants to run screamin thats fine with me

  • man! the story would have been better if frollo had got her back to the cathedral.

  • love charles laughton

  • He's a doctor! XD

  • "Let me hang him!"

  • i always found this intresting if esmeralda dies at 16 and the book lats 5years and there marrage lasts 4 that means esmeralda wound be 12 when the book starts which means that frollo liked a child creepy

  • book lasts for half a year (Jan 6 1482 - July 1482)

  • and anyway, esme was 16 when frollo first saw her dancing.

  • @Funnychicks89- LOL what made you think that the book lasts 5 years?

  • @Funnychicks89 she would actually be 11

  • at 1:39 I love that guys laugh!

"I'm above that sort of thing... I cut throats not purses!" XD

  • oh my god did you get a load of the way Phoebus spoke , that's even worse than Kevin Costner as robin hood.peeeyooou (holds nose) :P

  • The scene where the beggars stalk Gringoire reminds me of that South Park episode where homeless people overrun the city like zombies.

Fuckin' emo Gringoire, Phoebus ain't laughing WITH you, he's laughing AT YOU!!! XDD~~~!

  • GET OFF THE STAGE, GRINGORE!

  • the king of beggars looks like Jack Black

  • esme is cute. grengoire too. don;t you think that frollo looks a little like the Disney Frollo. at least the little curls above the years. still, dear grey haired Judge is more charming.

  • Totally, naly! Imagine Tony Jay answering Esme's "Do you like animals?" "Yes." BWAHAHA!!!

  • XD XD XD

I laughed so hard, you have no idea.

  • LOL Gringroire is speaking the lyrics! "Where the lame can talk! And the blind can see! But the dead don't talk!.." La la laXD Why is Clopin fat? lolXD

  • You're sooo used to happy little Disney.

  • @TwistedSister09 - Esmerelda's dance here was pretty tame compared to the Disney one.

  • @joyhorse13 its where the lame can walk

  • It kind of makes me laugh that she has super tweezed eyebrows before people had tweezers. Why does Gringoire get stalked by a bunch of creepy beggars for no reason? Ooohhhh, to show where the Court of Miracles is! "I cut throats, I don't cut purses!" Poor little emo Gringoire.

  • Before people had tweezers??? If you ever come across to Europe, where we've been civilised for quite some time now, and check out the right museums, you'll find that the Romans had just about all the bathroom stuff that ladies have now - including tweezers - more than two thousand years ago :-)
