Love it,great tone. I have a starfire 4 also, very good axe.I wish it had a les paul type tailpiece unto the core though.I play it through a re-wired champ and a fender reverb unit.Your Princeton reverb sounds fantastic.
Great playing, superb tone. I have a '67 Starfire V, I was going to sell it but this video reminded how good it can sound. Mine has the stock smaller (weaker) H'buckers. With the '59's yours sounds more like a 335--which is great. Tempted to do the pu swapout, but don't want to enlarge the holes. Suggestions? Rewind?
Hi there thanks for comments!I should mention that I had frets replaced with jumbo bass model!... sort of a Gibson touch..Guild pick ups are...honest and good enough for rythm,I guess you could find a pick-up maker that has smaller .Bridge&PU change will shoot Fire in this Star and make you forget about the holes right away!
I've put a tune-o-matic bridge, vol and tone pots and put a Guild harp tailpiece since someone stole the BIxby. Tony Nobles, did a great fret job, just need some juicy p.u.'s. I dig your Scofield-like licks and tone--keep it up.
Thank you for your reply, I have the same guitar and year, and have been struggling with the tone--I enjoyed your playing--I am changing pickups--thank you
The bridge is a gibson type, which means you have to drill as for putting the pick-ups which ar larger, also the tail piece is a Shaller modell very very heavy compare with original
Nice jazz groove.
Know anybody wanting to buy a 1967 cherry color Guild Starfire IV ?

Leave it original and sell it to buy a 335 if that is what you want. Let the Starfire V go to a someone that will love it like it is.

Thank you for you time,
your playing and sound is outstanding,
I will also try a princeton reverb, The last time I played one they sounded alittle bright
to my ears

yeah man Princetons are nice, tried an old 60s one at a shop a few times....the reverb left me soakin wet, best ive ever heard

I'm playing thru the Vox preamp, sounds even better on my ol'Princeton Reverb or a clean MesaBoogie, but the bridge
is essential in the fundamental tone attack & sustain,pick-up changing isn't enough with a floating bridge...
